I know you love NASCAR even more than I do, so I figured (drunkenly) that I should challenge you to a NASCAR TD.

I'd just like to say that I like Jimmie Johnson, but he's not my favorite driver. I'm a Kasey Kahne fan, but that's another story.

Anyways.... I'm ready to crown Jimmie Johnson with his 6th Sprint Cup Championship. Are you? After a slow start to the season and a disappointing finish last season, Jimmie has really turned up the heat this season.

He JUST now took over the points lead for the Sprint Cup, but has been running extremely strong this year (except for Daytona and Talladega). He's been an unstoppable force that hasn't met its immovable object yet in his career. In my humble opinion, he could go down as the best ever.

I know I didn't use all my characters, but if you disagree with me, let's friggin' throwdown!

BTW Eric Church is awesome (so is Luke Bryan).

Jimmie Johnson has just as good of a shot as anybody, but having the points lead now means nothing. When the Chase starts, the top 12 drivers all close in. Brad Keselowski and Tony Stewart have 3 wins as well. If the Chase started today, Bad Brad and Smoke would be tied for the points lead with JJ.

The odds are against Johnson getting a 6th.

I can't argue for my favorite driver, Harvick because he's been unimpressive this season.

Really the only driver I have confidence in arguing for is Tony Stewart.

Remember last season, we all wrote Smoke off as a non factor in the Chase? He had a rough regular season and barely got in, but I think we all remember what happened last time.

Tony Stewart throughout his career has won the vast majority of his races in the second half of the season, he already has 3 this season, and his performance in the Chase last season shows he still knows how to get it done.

Jimmie had a nice run, 5 in a row will probably never happen again, but in the end I like Smoke to repeat.

Good luck Easy Mac. Eric Church is indeed awesome, can't say the same for Luke Bryan though.

BTW Outlaw, if you want to TD on who wins the Rousey-Kaufman fight, let me know. I think Rousey wins.

Oh and.... Forrest Griffin beats Chael Sonnen. Anyone wanna crack at that?

That would be correct. That account should be inactive and deleted by now... but I guess the mods have taken a couple months off.

6 Time soon come.

Chad and Mr No personalty are nothing but scabs in Nascar, I think France is looking the other way with these 2 creeps.

Go JJ!!!!

August 17, 2012  12:04 PM ET

The timer is broken, so I'm either gonna have to drop this or wait til Sunday to argue.

August 17, 2012  12:09 PM ET

I'll post my first argument now, but I'm only gonna be here today until beer thirty, and if I'm on at all tomorrow it will be a drive by.

So word of warning, I doubt I stay within the 24 hour limit.

It's not part of the TD, but JJ has A LONG way to go to be considered better than Big E, Petty or Pearson.

I say 4-6 on the list are a toss up between Jimmie, Jeff and Cale.

Sorry I'll get to this soon. Family emergency.

Tough TD, hard to vote against JJ, his record speaks for itself but it could be one of several. Probably will be a Hendrick driver though. They are always up front ( even JR. this year is doing well but I personally think he is WAY overrated. ) That said, completely agree with Eric Church over Luke Bryan, Eric has brought REAL country music back.

It won't be Gordon, considering he all but assured himself of not making the Chase with a 28th place finish today.

That gift wrapped win at Pocono helps his chances.

Now all he needs is to get one more win and stay in the top 20, and he's good to go with a wild card.

Realistically, I'd say the 3 you would have to consider the favorites to win it all this year though are JJ, simply because of what he's done in the past, Smoke, second half driver, and will most likely start the Chase tied for the lead. And Brad K. Been very consistent all season. has 3 wins that he will actually get to use, and has grown up a lot in just one year's time.

I think Richard is putting more effort into his grandkid's rides in Nationwide and the trucks this season. Because his Nationwide and Truck teams have been unstoppable, while his Cup team has largely been a non factor. Very disappointing season for Harvick. I'm hoping he can go on a Stewart like run in the Chase.
