After he takes them to the Rose bowl. Could be a couple years.
And the Prophecy Read said 08/30, 03:19 AM
The hell is this?
Anyway Ubran will be there a while. His family is from Ohio and he feels at home. It will be more than 5 years.
Urban has a QB that fits his system in Braxton Miller and a damn good defense this year. Recruits are lining up and the Big 10 is honestly pretty weak. The Ohio State will be at the top of the Big 10 for the forseeable future.
XXPCHXX-HOME ALONE said 08/30, 03:44 PM
"MORE THAN FIVE YEARS"
????
Since he's been coaching, he's never lasted OVER 5 years.
1990-95 Colorado St. WR's coach
1996-00 Notre Dame WR's coach
2001-02 Bowling Green Head coach..
2003-04 Utah's head coach...
2005-10 Florida's head coach..
See, the fact of the mattter is. Urban Meyer comes in, revamps the football team, then dips... It's a known fact.. Urban had his ideal situation at Florida and only lasted 5 years, because of "health problems" and so on..
I don't see Urban being there more than 5 years like you stated. I see him being there tops, 3 or 4 years..
Urban Myer's a great a coach, don't get me wrong, but he's not loyal...
Bring the Pain, Go Dawgs!
And the Prophecy Read said 09/01, 03:55 AM
OSU is like a homecoming to Meyer. If there ever was a point in being loyal that would be a pretty good time.
And come on are we shocked he didn't last as a WR coach at Colorado St? ND? Are we shocked he didn't stay at Utah? Thats what coahces do they move up.
Florida had to have been a tough decision. But now he gets to come back home to Ohio. And you never really said anything about coaching. I could see Meyer staying at Ohio State for life. Not like Joe Pa and PSU but always being a part of the program for many many years even after he is done coaching.
Be honest Meyer wouldn't have taken a gig at a school that is facing sanctions if he didn't plan on staying awhile. By that I mean at least 5 years. I can actually see him being there longer. Quite possibly even double digit years depending on how it goes.
Urban had a great thing at Florida but it wasn't his dream job. His dream job was either coming home to OSU or going to ND. Florida wasn't either. He accomplished plenty at Florida.
XXPCHXX-HOME ALONE said 09/01, 04:03 AM
That's great...
Why don't you draw the white house, and picket fence????
Lets be real, history shows the guy doesn't stay too long.
John Brantley came to Florida, 7-5 season i believe it was, Meyer, also gets a win from JO pa in the bowl that same year, then leaves..
There was good period of time, that i actually thought Meyer would quit and be Tebow's manager. lol
Meyer's career record as coach looks VERY VERY good, but he's not loyal, and NOtre Dame, not OSU, is the goal!
And the Prophecy Read said 09/02, 03:16 PM
What in the hell are you talking about.
And as I said before no one wants to stay a WR coach at Colorado State forever. No one wants to stay in Utah forever.
To think Meyer is going to stay at OSU through what they are going through now for the next couple years then step down after he starts getting full recruting classes and those recruits become juniors and seniors you're insane. Meyer will stay over 5 years and at least see a senior class of his recruits leave the program.
Meyer accomplished plenty at this time in Florida and saw a chance to step away for a year and then take over one of the two schools he has always wanted to coach.
OSU is going to roll in the Big 10 for the next quite a few seasons.

I thought his dream job was Michigan, Ohio State, or Notre Dame.
And he's taking steps to be healthier and not take things so personal. will that last? who knows.
Ya'll may go around saying crap about the Big 10 being down or never as good, but it's an odd little conference. The last time OSU won a national title, Illinois was actually the winner of the Big 10. With the new alignments who knows what will happen in the coming years, but don't just dismiss 11 other teams because you don't care to actually look into something.

Meyer never said that meeeechegen was a dream job of his. The schools he mentioned where OSU & ND.
"The last time OSU won a national title, Illinois was actually the winner of the Big 10."
HUH??????? Please explain. Back in 2002 OSU beat Illinois 23-16 to finish with an 8-0 record in conference. They split with Big Ten title that year with Iowa. They didn't face each other that year. In 2002 Illinois finish at 5-7 (4-4).

does "I'm easily confused" work as a defense? I meant Iowa. too many "I" states in the midwest... (and Illinois did win the Big 10 the year before, so my mistake makes sense in my head if not anywhere else)

What, when did he say that? I'm not taking any pot shots at UF but didn't Meyer say his "dream job" was either OSU or ND? I just don't recall Meyer saying the same thing about the Gators.

You do realize he coached Florida for SIX years though right? Going 65-15 and 5-1 in bowl games.

Meyer said Florida was his dream job during his last press conference after Gators defeated Penn State in the Outback Bowl after his last game at Florida. Google it. Easy enough to find.
