Alright well the mods deleted my other country TD, but I'm a slow learner so I'm doing it again. This time will be different, though. Instead of just listing your favorite artists let's change it up and list your favorite songs. Three per argument. Eric Church is trendy right now and any fool on the street knows who he is. Doesn't take a real fan to say they like him. So for this TD, Outlaw would be the perfect opponent since he's a real fan. However I haven't seen him around here in a while so I'm gonna leave it open. Now for the nitty gritty:
Beautiful song. It's about not giving a **** what people think about your music. It's about priorities; understanding family is infinitely more important than reputation or anything else. I love it. This song descibes me pretty well.
Best. Love. Song. Ever. Sounds like it was written about my wife and I. Perfect song.
Jamey is the best singer on the planet, and this song is perfect for anybody who is/was a lonesome drifter.

I'm not sure if the is all time or recent. To be safe, I'll only use songs from the past 5 or so years in the first argument just in case, if allowed, I'll use classics in the second.
Love the idea MF, wish we could TD on non sports subjects without worry of the TD being deleted, and thanks for holding this one for me Nerb.
Like the Justin Moore version, but I had to go with the original. I've been fortunate to have two amazing grandpa's, so this song has significant meaning to me.
A life lesson that works on many levels. From rodeos to relationships(redundant maybe). Great song written and sang by a 2x world champion bull rider.
I can't in good faith make a list and not include Hank 3. A bit slower than most of his songs, but I love songs that pay homage to the legends that came before them. Nice to know there's a few out there that knows who Waylon Jennings is.

I hear ya brother; it's be awesome if we could do these things all the time without the mods infringing upon our fun. So far, so good. Let's hope I didn't jinx it just now. BTW, I love that Rhett Akins song. Great choice!
One of the prettiest songs of all time. Kind George is obviously a really hard guy to pick one song from, but this particular song has always struck a chord with me. Anyone familiar with love and loss can relate to this song, and the music/vocals fit the words beautifully.
Another beautiful love song. Randy may have destroyed his reputation over the past several months but his music is forever and this song is his best. This is another song my wife and I played at our wedding, and the firmness of Travis' promises of unending fidelity is something any marriage could use.
Easily the best 9/11 song of all time. Jackson has the perfect country voice and his lyrics are outstanding in this song. This tune makes me openly weep each and every time I hear it.

Not bad, not bad.
Shockingly out of George Strait's 50 or so number 1's, Marina del Ray isn't one of them. Hard to figure.
My all time favorite song. Nobody has yet to match Waylon's voice, best of all time. True outlaw country song about drifting and drug use.
As far as I'm concerned, Kris Kristofferson is the greatest songwriter to ever live. While Me and Bobby McGee is probably his most famous piece, this one has always been one of my favorites.
A song that still has meaning today. Once you're a prisoner, you're pretty much branded for life and don't get a chance to prove yourself. It's a problem with society. Merle actually did some time in San Quentin, and while there are a lot of prison songs out there, Merle's are by far the best. Ronald Reagan's greatest accomplishment was pardoning Merle when he was governor of California.

I'm running out of room to add all my favorite songs so I need to find a way to condense this list. I think maybe I'll just try to spotlight the artists I love the most with some songs that folks have heard of before. Starting with Willie and Waylon, two of the strongest pillars of country music.
It has become a little cliche over the years but it's still an iconic song featuring two of the most iconic country artists. The way they describe the allure of the cowboy life (and the repercussions that life brings others) is as poignant as it's ever been and it's just a timeless song, overall.
Another timeless song which has become cliched over the years, but Hank Sr. (the BEST Williams; sorry Outlaw!) absolutely deserves to be on this list and it's probably my favorite Sr. song. I enjoyed listening to this as a little kid with my grandpa and now I enjoy singing it to my wife.
Wasn't gonna double up on any of the artists but this might be the most clever song of all time.

Not bad, bot bad.
No matter who's singing this song, I've always loved it. Kris Kristofferson wrote it, but I have to say nobody sang it better than Johnny Cash.
Keith Whitley died much too young. I have to believe that he'd still be out there making great music today had he not overdosed. His voice is perfect for country music, and his voice was perfect for this song. I love this song.
The title track from the Red Headed Stranger album is one of Willie's most underrated songs of all time, off of an album that I would call top 5 all time, not a bad song on the entire cd. Willie was also an amazing songwriter, maybe not as good as Kristofferson, but he's up there. Now I've used all 4 members of the Highway Men.
Excellent TD MF, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've got a hard head
I get that from my Dad
And I can overreact,
Maybe just a tad
I put up walls
To show the world I'm tough
When I don't get my way,
I get difficult
But when it comes to loving me,
Baby you make it look so easy
You're my refuge from the road,
A safe place to go
When I'm out here living on this ledge.
And when I'm circling the drain,
You make my crazy sane,
And quiet all the voices in my head
I'm probably wrong, more than I say
And I'd point that out if you were that way,
Yeah I'm hard to love,
And even harder to live with
And I know there's days,
Where you just want to up and quit
But when it comes to loving me,
Baby you make it look so easy.
I got a hard head,
I was born that way
And that makes me wrong,
More than I say
But I thank God
You've got a hard head, too
I guess He must've known,
You'd need that to get us through
'Cause when it comes to loving me,
Baby you make it look so easy.

For all the perfectionists: Yes, I realize I skipped a verse or two. I just wanted to post the parts that really stick out to me.
That particular song is one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced in life.
Do yourself a favor and check it out, especially if you're a married guy who knows you sometimes make life hard for your wife. You'll appreciate the honesty of these lyrics, and the music/vocals are simply superb. Perfect song for a guy like me.

glad you included Jamey Johnson on the jump off MF, one of the best writers in the business and best voice since Waylon. He also has a sense of humor: "it ain't the high cost of livin' it's the cost of livin' high"

Brad would be all right if he didn't come out with some many stupid songs.
I'm Gonna Miss Her
Celebrity
Camouflage
Southern Comfort
etc
I can understand a couple novelty songs in a career, but he has a ton.

Maybe not one is as ridiculous as Achy Breaky Heart, but collectively, Brad Paisley blows Achy Breaky Heart out of the water when it comes to novelty music.

Don't forget Online and Start a Band.
You're right; when Brad gets it right he's really something special. But he drops so many stupid gimmick songs it's sort of hard to take him serious.

That one is really amazing too, but isn't it a cover?
I could be wrong but I thought that was an old R&B song or something.

That song is awesome.
My whole life went through my head, laying in that motel bed, watching as the cops kicked in the door
I had a job and a piece of land, and my sweet wife was my best friend, but I traded that for cocaine and a wh0re
With my newfound sobriety, I've got the time to sit and think, of all the things I had but threw away
This prison is much colder than the one that I was locked up in just yesterday
Awsome lyrics, especially since they're true.
