YES.. true statement.
Goldberg was, "jack hammering", (finishing manuever), the Giant, a.k.a the Big Show.
Ryback couldn't even lift Lord Tensai...
Golberg's intensity coming out the gate was a lot more too. Ryback's first BIG match, he did he got screwed over. He fought CM PUNK for the title last month @ Hell in the Cell, ATL:GA.
Ironic that I bring up GA, and being from the PCH state, huh?
Goldberg's first BIG BIG match, heayweight title implications of course, he fought Hollywood Hulk Hogan, in the GA dome. Lets just say the ex. atl falcon, and UGA bulldog, won the strap from the best wrestler to date.

I will agree with you that Goldberg was a better investment at the time, but things have changed.
Goldberg (as u said) was a georgia golden boy, with TNT being housed in atlanta so the build up was obvious. Now that WWE owns the scene and they need to learn from their mistakes of not devoloping stories/talent, I think Ryback ends up being better long term.
They have put Ryback in the main conversation quickly, which is what they did with Cena at look how that has carried them. I see Ryback turning heel when he loses this weekend, and having a run like Punk (only as the us/intercontinental champ for over 2 years)

well, possibly in TNA.
He's good, but his gimmick won't be long lived, don't know how it would be.

It's quite possible another roid monger may be shipped away or hurt, but.......cena era is coming to an end, so a face is needed....wwe could do the same with goldberg in the day of drawing a gimmick...

Goldberg beat Hogan, I doubt Ryback could beat John Cena. Nobody would write that script. Ryback's a goldberg imitation, bottom line.

After wrestlemania cena is gone-movies- see his comments of this is my life and ill never leave... i dont think ryback is the answer but i see more longevity and career to be great

I think it's too early to do this TD. You're comparing a wrestler that's been in the Ryback character for months to a wrestler that was Goldberg for years. Or course Goldberg's better at this point!
BUT WWE has a chance to make Ryback the most over wrestler ever and here's how.
Ryback wins the triple threat match at Survivor Series for the title ending the nearing year long reign of Punk. Then Ryback beats the Rock at the Royal Rumble. Next he beats either Cena or The Rock in a rematch at WrestleMania.
However the WWE is so bad at building up new talents that I doubt that they could pul this off. Which is another reason comparing the two just isn't fair at this point!

Unfortunately, it didn't and won't happen. WWE is building Punk-Rock at the Rumble with Rock winning (of course). Ryback AKA Skip Sheffield of the Nexus isn't as good as Goldberg was on Goldberg's worst night but he is getting better. Problem is the talent on Raw and Smackdown isn't as good as it used to be... and now their 'golden boy' Cena is hurt... again! I liken Ryback to Sheamus in a way... a newer talent coming in, causing hell and eventually being a champion. Problem is, Ryback won't be a champ in the near, or distant future.

They made Goldberg unbeatable. At least Ryback can be beat. Goldy's finisher is better plus he had submission moves.

Ryabck said it best in a recent interview. He is not like Goldberg and will go away for the money. He has the passion for wrestling. He will be around for awhile.
Plus, Goldberg really only had a 4 year stint as well...overall.

I got a funny feeling that Rock's rumble match is nothing but promotion for this movie. I hope I'm wrong but I smell a horrible tie-in comming too!

Goldberg was very popular with the fans.....but was a TERRIBLE wrestler. Ryback isn't a great wrestler yet, but at least he has the opportunity to improve and become a good wrestler. Neither guy can talk on the mic. They are poplular because each has "the look" and because crowds like to have something to chant when they go to a live show. It'd be great if Ryback can get to the point where he does more than just his 5 moves and can carry a match instead of having to be carried by whoever his opponent is. However, I think he has a chance. He's more comparable to Batista right now than Goldberg in my opinion. Batista couldn't wrestle when he started and he turned into an ok wrestler.

GI Joe II was ready to be released last summer. The studio that produced it had just had a couple other big budget flops and the person in charge of the studio was about to be fired if they had another flop. Because of this, the producers decided to delay the release of this movie to "add special features" until closer to WrestleMania time......when the Rock could depend on advertising his movie on WWE programming and get the wrestling fans to go see his movie.
