Robert Griffin deserves the rookie of the year over Luck as of right now.
Robert Griffin had a 93% completion rate last week. The Eagles might suck, but they do have some names in the secondary.
Last night's showing of the RG3 show, unbelievable.
Romo and the Cowboys were .500 at the time, nothing to brag about, but, Romo does have an incredible winning percentage in the month of November, and hadn't lost a turkey special yet.
Rob Ryan said the games slows down for him, it does! Robert Griffin might be leading a team with a 5-6 record, versus Luck's 6-4 record, but the East reigns supreme over that crayola division the Colts are in, minus the red hot Texans, with DOY candidate, JJ Watts.

Is this Griffin vs. Luck or just ROY? I've got someone who's more deserving than both these QBs.
Doug Martin
Ranked 3rd in the NFL with 1,000 yards rushing
Ranked 2nd in the NFL with 7 rushing TDs
Ranked 2nd in the NFL with 9 runs of 20+ yards
Averaging 5.1 yards per carry, which is good enough for #3 among players with 150+ carries
Fumbled the football once all season
Tampa Bay is 2nd in the NFC South and in position for a wildcard spot
Robert Griffin III
Ranked 20th in the NFL with 2,193 passing yards
Ranked 17th in the NFL with 12 passing TDs
Ranked 1st in the NFL with 8.21 yds/attempt
Has thrown only 3 INTs but has the most fumbles in the league with 7
Washington is currently 2nd in their division but is behind 5 other teams in the NFC (including Tampa Bay) for a wildcard spot
There's no denying that Robert Griffin III is having an outstanding season. However, all things considered, Doug Martin is more deserving of Rookie of the Year honors.

Can you do the dougie?
Anyways...
W 40-32 @ Saints
L 28-31 @ Rams
L 31-38 vs Bengals.. AJ Green goes off for a180 somethinng yards..
W 24-22 vs TAMPA
W 24-17 vs ATL If it wasn't for Griffin's concussion, they probably woulda pulled out the W, on the, at the time, undefeated Falcons
W 38-26 ... vs Minnesota A.P.?
L 27-23 vs NY Giants lost on a last second play to Victor Cruz
L 12-27 vs Pittsburgh
L 13-21 vs Cam and the Panthers.
W 31-6 vs Philly .. Griffin's 14-15 on the pass..
W 38-31 vs the 5-5 Cowboys.. unreal first half!
Look at those games. Rg3's biggest loss, by 15, and to the Steelers with a healthy Big Ben, and of course the Panther's game stands out. Other than that, RG3 has kept his team in the GAME. LOOK at the scores, pretty much ALL close. With that being said, look at the Skin's passing D this year, ranked 30th, outta 32 teams. It's not Rg3's fault they're 5-6. I personally saw this guy play against Atlanta, he woulda probably beat us, if it wasn't for Sean Weatherspoon giving Rg3 his first concussion.

Cam Newton and Adrian Peterson were the last 2 players to win the ROY at the QB and RB positions respectively. Let's see what they did...
Cam Newton
4,051 Yds Passing
21 TD; 17 INTs; 5 Fum
706 Yds Rushing; 4 TD
Adrian Peterson
1,341 yards rushing
12 TD; 4 Fum
19 Rec; 268 Yds; 1 TD
In comparing RG3 and Doug Martin to their counterparts, who's coming closer to living up to the standard for winning ROY at their position?
With 1,000 yards rushing through 10 games, Doug Martin is on pace to crack 1,600 yards for the season. Do you know the last rookie running back to run for 1,600+ yards in a season? Eric Dickerson in 1983.
Not only are Martin's rushing stats outstanding for a rookie RB (or any RB for that matter), but he is also the 3rd leading receiver on his team with 27 catches for 319 yards. That puts him on pace for 510 receiving yards.
1,600 + 510? Can you do the math? 2,110 yards from scrimmage. I realize these are just projections, but isn't that what this argument is? Projecting who will win ROY.
I don't envy the decision the voters have to make in RG3 vs. Luck vs. Martin... They're all great. I just think Martin is the greatest.
XXPCHXX-HOME ALONE said 11/24, 02:20 AM
RG3 has 16 td's, to ONLY 4 int's.
Since when have the SKINS, had a francise qb?
Rypien?
Lets be real..
LIke I showed you above, Griffin has yet to have his as* kicked, minus the weatherspoon hit, and the Steeler beatdown that was IN the burgh.
Jimmy Johnson, who I def. respect in the football world, said at Halftime of the Cowboys game, that Rg3's playing like the MVP.
YEAH BUDDY... that's a lil overhyped, but I'll listen to 'em, and won't agree too much. I mean, he did pump up extenze. hahaa
literally,, he used! lol j/k
Anywho, the Muscle hamster is awesome for sure, but he did get that 250 yards on the pitiful RAIDERS, and he does have BALANCE on his team,. more so than Rg3 does. Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams ring a bell?
Rg3 hasn't had Pierre Garcon all season long, his #1. And Rg3 right now has 600 yards rushing, and 6 td's. He'll smash Cam's record on that.
Muscle Hamster deserves his props, but you can't help but love the Rg3 show.
Donovan McNabb doesn't even like covering the guy on NFL network.
hahah good td.
DO_WORK_SON said 11/24, 07:09 PM
I can't take anything away from RG3 and the year he has had. I can only make the case for Doug Martin.
The fact that Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams are catching balls for the Bucs makes it all that more impressive that Martin has 27 catches for 319 yards.
Sure, a good passing game opens up the run, but I guess the same can be said for the run setting up the pass; Alfred Morris has 982 yards on the season, so I would say that RG3 definitely has some balance around him as well.
As I said, I can't take anything away from RG3, BUT we saw exactly what he's been doing just last year in Cam Newton. What Doug Martin is accomplishing hasn't been seen in nearly 30 years!
RG3 won the Heisman; he's doing what he was expected to do, but he still doesn't look like he can get his team in the playoffs. Doug Martin was not largely hyped coming out of college, but he's got his team that was 4-12 last season in playoff contention.
To put it in boxing terms for you Peach, RG3 can take Doug Martin the full 12 rounds, but after looking at the body of work, the decision has to go to Martin.

I didn't realize the TD-INT differential for RGIII. Last time I looked at the statistics, RGIII was rather close with TDs and INTs, but after 8 TDs and 1 INT in the last 2 games, I can't see why RGIII wouldn't be the Rookie of the Year, especially with Luck turning the ball over 20 times on the season (INTs + fumbles).

His RGIII stats are a little outdated though. He's missing 311 passing yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT and 2 fumbles.
The passing stats can be explained by not including yesterday's game vs Dallas. The fumbles are a mystery.

Technically only 17 turnovers. 3 of those fumbles were recovered by the Colts.

Fumbles are an odd stat, in terms of holding the player responsible.
RGIII has fumbled 9 times but Washington has recovered 7 of them.
Luck has fumbled 8 times but Indianapolis has recovered 3 of them.
So Luck has actually turned the ball over via fumble more times than RGIII... even though RGIII has technically fumbled the ball more. So who's worse? Depends how you look at it. Probably also depends on who recovered the fumble - the QB who put the ball on the ground or his teammates.

I was using ESPN.com for stats. After further evaluation, the stats for the Dallas-Washington game haven't posted to the site yet. Nice catch.

That's a pretty good measuring stick for greatness, Yoda. Be sure to take their squat and deadlift into consideration as well.

Where'd you happen to come across how many fumbles were recovered by the players' own team? Doesn't look like ESPN has those statistics available.

Fumbles can also occur while being knocked out of bounds too, making them basically a wash at times, but just make your statistics look a little more dinged up.
