You bashed my TEAM on a thread. You were really hating on the Falcons, and Matt Ryan. Do you recall?

Playoffs:

Matt Ryan was very close to beating Kurt Warner/Fitz/ and Boldin. They go on to the superbowl, then lose a thriller.

You have Matt Ryan getting demolished by the SUPERBOWL champ, Packers.

THEN, you have the Falcons losing 24-2 to the SUPERBOWL champ, G-Men.

This is a DIFFERENT year my friend.

Falcon's D isn't too shabby either. We have db's for days. Look at Peyton and Drew coming to town, 8 interceptions, buddy ole pal.

I don't like the Falcons. I don't trust Matt Ryan. I love Julio Jones and Roddy White. Tony Gonzalez is an all time great and I would love for him to get a ring. However I dont trust Matt Ryan nor do I trust Turner when the playoffs start.

And the Falcons D lives and dies off the turnover. That also isn't a good recipe once playoff football starts.

Just last year we saw them get 2 points on the Giants. While the Giants have a great D the offense scored less points than the defense that game. Against Green Bay they got down by a ton early and Green Bay didn't let them score points but played more conservative since they had a huge lead.

Atlanta struggles against top teams. Not only top teams but big games. Atlanta gets called out by Carolina and while they don't need a win could have sold their product to many more NFL fans last week. Yet they throw up a clunker against the Panthers. And the Panthers have a improved young defense they aren't great. A serious contender would hang more than 13 against the Panthers at this point in the season. I can accept a shootout type loss but not a beat down to Newton.

Didnt Ryan just throw like 5 INTS as well?

Yeah, the first qb to have 5 int's, and still win the game since Bart Starr.

While you rambled on about the Panthers, who cares. It was only their 2nd loss of the season. Cam Newton had a breakout game for once, 100 and something yards rushing.

Michael turner is slowing down a little bit, but we do have Jaquizz Rogers in the backfield as well, And Lord, don't forget about Jason "powerhouse" snelling. He can move a couch on his own.

Falcon's d has kept the Falcons in games. MattY ice has a new offensive coordinator, and it's showed this year. Matt Ryan is top 5 in passing this year.

Julio is the xfactor. If Julio is catching balls, you know tony g, and rowdy roddy white are.

and there's plenty more where that came from. I posted 3 arguments, this one finally submitted, and I went a little soft on the intro.

Every year I get fooled by a certain team. Sometimes it's the Giants; I think they suck and then they somehow win a Super Bowl. Sometimes it's Pittsburgh surprising the hell out of me. It happens almost every season with some team or other. Last year it was the 49ers; I didn't buy them until the playoffs but then I completely bought in and was all shocked when NY wound up beating them in the NFC Championship game. Point is I am often caught off guard by the (mis)fortunes of any given team.

I don't know if that whole thing is happening to me again with Atlanta or if I'm actually seeing something here, but I kinda buy into the Falcons hype at the moment. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them lose to like the Rams or Redskins or something in the first round of the playoffs, but I still kinda buy the hype. Kinda.

Damn, son!!!

Never seen a quint before. Nicely done.

Marlins, the Falcons are more than likely getting a bye, so I doubt they'll lose to the Skins, and the Rams? lmao

I don't believe their hype of having San Fran's #, and beating Buffalo.

IN all clean fun

As a fan of the Falcons since '91, I'm thinking Matty Ice get his FIRST playoff victory at home, then they'll lose a close one in the NFC championships. New offensive coordinator this year has done wonders for Matthew Ice.

minus the cardinals game. lol still a victory tho.

I hear ya; I was just throwing those teams out there as extreme examples.

In all honesty though I really just don't know what to expect from Atlanta. I'm scared to trust them. They've burned me before, more than once.

I hope so. I like Matt Ryan. ACC guy.

MattY ice was special @ BC.

Until Ryan actually WINS a playoff game the Falcons will still just be paper champions.

Most NFL players were special in college.

Tony Romo threw 5 ints against the Bills a few years ago and still won, so it wasn't since Bart Starr.

I think you meant threw 5 ints and no TD passes and still won. But, if that were against any team other than the Cardinals, the Falcons would have been blown out. Lucky for Ryan the Cardinals couldn't score against a Big 12 team.

December 14, 2012  12:38 PM ET

Considering the Falcons got smoked in the playoffs the last two years - I mean just absolutely humiliated, they didn't even show up to play - it's kind of ridiculous to expect other team's fans to still buy into the hype.

What I will point out though... is that the Falcons last two playoff losses both came against the eventual Super Bowl champs.

So part of it is bad luck. But once again, you at least need to play like you deserve to be on the same field as them.
