realistically...

cont: from the title ^

I've got Saul Canelo

a.k.a the Red Headed Mexican.

With Manny out of the sweepstakes in most boxing fans' eyes, I think Saul Canelo COULD step up to the challenge, and conquer the mighty Mayweather.

Canelo has supreme power, and solid head movement.

Canelo's resume speaks loudly because he's undefeated, but as far as the competition he's faced, not so much.

Beating up an old Sugar Shane is something, but not something to ride home about, even if Sugar's a future hall of famer.

Canelo has youth on his side, he's only 22 years of age.

Canelo is a HUGE welterweight, and I think in a fight with Floyd, Floyd better keep his chin tight, very tight. Floyd def. could be Canelo at the same time, I could see him outpointing him, but IF, and the keyword is "IF", Canelo lands a punishing blow, Pretty boy aint looking so pretty. Like my Dad says, "it would sad song singing time". Mayweather is more than likely going to fight Robert "the Ghost" Guerrero on May 4th, who's a solid boxer, but I don't see Mayweather losing. Mayweather and Canelo will more than likely happen in September, and it will fill the void.

First Canelo isn't a welterweight, he is a jr middleweight and at 5'9" a decent sized one but not huge. The fight would take place at 154 if it does happen.

Canelo has made his name by beating guys who are half his size. Josesito Lopez spent most of his career fighting at 140, Mosley was washed up and undersized at 154, Cintron was a career welterweight and washed up, Alfonso Gomez is again a smaller fighter who is a small at welterweight and than you have Carlos Baldomir, old and washed up.

What exactly has Canelo even done to even deserve a shot with Floyd? Nothing. Not one victory vs a fighter that would even be a top #10 at jr. middleweight other than Ryan Rhodes and he is no world better either. Canelo isn't ready for this fight and Floyd knows it, it will be a complete shout out.

Guerrero has a much better chance at beating Floyd, far more seasoned and has fought against opposition but he isn't my choice. The guy that can beat Floyd and has said he would drop down as low as 150 to fight him is Sergio Martinez. Sergio is looking a little vulnerable and to be slowing down and I think Floyd might give him a shot. It is the biggest fight he can make.

it will be a complete shout out.

To think it would be a complete shut out is stupid.

Canelo's good my friend.

I understand he's a jr. middle weight, that easily could go down to welter, but he's built like a ford truck.

I stated he hasn't fought too many GREAT people, but his next fight will be a tune up for September.

You said Guererro has a better chance of beating Floyd? lmfao.

are you kidding me?

Sure, Guerrero's only lost 1 fight, and he's got a heart of a lion, but Floyd outskills this dude easily.

Victor Ortiz beat Berto too. That's why Guerrero's sitting pretty right now. haha

Gurrero might make a couple rounds interesting but there's no way he can handle Floyd's speed. Floyd versus Canelo, floyd wouldn't be as quick to pull the trigger, dude has POWER.. Don't underestimate that for a second.

30 ko's outta 41 wins for Canelo. To think Floyd won't get hit, not smart either. And Canelo's power is knee shaking, Mayweather gets hit, it might be done. I think Mayweather would win points easy, but Canelo hits that chin right, nighty night. Weird to say for Mayweather, but the REd Head's strength is unmatched in their dvision/commonop

It is stupid to think Floyd wouldn't shut out Canelo, he has lost very few rounds vs much better fighters. Only 2 or 3 vs Cotto, 1 vs Mosley and 1 if that vs Marquez. All these guys have been in far tougher and are for more seasoned than Canelo.

Floyd will look to dominate from the start knowing Canelo is the bigger man. He isn't going to give Alvarez the chance to land anything meaningful. Canelo doesn't have the hand speed to surprise Floyd like Mosley did that 1 [and only 1 time] and has nothing in his arsenal that is deceiving or tricky. If he doesn't get the shutout it he will only give up at most a round.

You don't beat great fighters like Floyd with power alone, it is stupid to think you can. He has never had an official knockdown and know this kid is going to knock him out? Good luck with that.

The way to beat Floyd is work your jab and being a south paw seems to help with landing the left. Canelo is your regular orthodox boxer puncher and brings nothing complex to the table yet, he is still learning his craft.

Martinez is seasoned and has tricks up his sleeve. He can work the jab and just ask P. Williams about his power. He has the left to make Floyd think.

MOSLEY ROCKED MAYWEATHER, made him weak in the knees, what THE **** DO YOU THINK CANELO WILL DO..

HE MIGHT BE A JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT, but HE"S HUGE FOR THAT DIVISION.

KEEP KISSING FLOYD'S ASS. I THOUGHT PERSONALLY, IF IT WASN'T FOR THAT CHEAP SHOT ON ORTIZ, HE MIGHY BEEN IN A WAR LATER IN THAT FIGHT.

Floyd def. could be Canelo at the same time,

def. could BEAT

Also, NO BUCKY please. No offense, Buck, but I want someone different for once.

If Mayweather loses, it will only be to father time...a superior boxer he will never find, but he might slow down enough in his 40's that someone might get lucky...

yeah, watched him beat Lopez recently...but since Canelo hasn't fought anyone even close to the level of Mayweather, it doesn't really translate...he's not slow compared to who he's beaten, but Mayweather is FAR faster than anything he's ever seen. Canelo has beaten people that are inferior to Mayweather in EVERY aspect...

Too bad, didn't see the comment and we haven't TDed in awhile. Who else is going to take this?

I briefly considered putting Triple G up there, but Sergio would have also been my pick. Not sure if GGG would be able to make the weight although for the right paycheck, I'm sure he'd try.

GGG doesn't have the following for Floyd to consider the fight and no one wants a piece of this guy. I just can't envision Floyd taking that risk.

Not that I am 100% he will take Martinez, even at 155 where he could get the middleweight championship, but I do think it might be possible.

January 28, 2013  05:34 AM ET

I doubt Triple G would beat Money May May. Triple doesn't move his head hardly at all. Power's there of course, but Floyd would pick at that guy.

January 28, 2013  05:35 AM ET

Sergio better give Chavez Jr. that rematch. Watched Bam Bam tonight, what a chin!!!!

January 28, 2013  12:54 PM ET

Canelo is a completely unproven fighter Pch. He has done nothing to give an idea if he is anything more than hype. You say he has "supreme" power but how do you know? He couldn't even knock down Mosley who had looked awful in previous fights. Stop just buying into hype and make a guy prove he is great before you gush about him.

I am not kissing Floyd's ass. I am simply stating facts about him. Mosley landed one punch and that was it and you act like he had a chance in that fight. Floyd dominated that fight.

Ortiz? are you seroius? Did you even watch that fight? He was thrashing Ortiz and Ortiz turned dirty out of complete frustration. To say he would have any chance in that fight is ridiculous, he was so out classed it wasn't even funny.

January 28, 2013  12:58 PM ET

Also if Canelo doesn't give Trout a shot in May than he isn't even worth mentioning with Floyd. He has taken far too many easy fights. The kid was rocked by Cotto and we are talking Jose Cotto. He has his flaws and his own people seem to know it. Why do you think they won't put him in with a proper fighter before facing Floyd? Cause they are scared he will lose.

Guys at 154 I think can beat Canelo are Lara [he would win hands down], Carlos Molina [close fight here], and Trout [showed vs Cotto how good he was which is more than Canelo has done].

January 28, 2013  01:05 PM ET

Mosley also knocked out the granite chin Margarito. He has proven power. Canelo has stopped a bunch of guys half his size, nothing proven about him yet.

February 5, 2013  11:36 AM ET

Yeah, I watched Ortiz vs Mayweather. Ortiz was putting that fool in the ropes, making him work.

I agree. Trout vs Canelo is what NEEDS to happen. Who's to say Trout doesn't beat him? I was highly impressed with Trout's performance over Cotto. Canelo tho, havn't seen someone like him in a LONG while.
