Since there is no clear identity for this Throwdown, I'll simply name players in each position who have been disappointments

I'll keep Gasol and Howard but I'll change the rest

Steve Nash is 39, was injured after 2 games and is on a new team. Should anyone really be disappointed?

Kobe is averaging 29 pts, 5 rebs and 5 assists. Yes, he may not be taking the role of a great leader, but at the least he's going hard every game and trying to keep the team afloat

MWP - 3rd leading scorer and putting up 14pts and 5 rebs a game. He's also playing 35 mins a game

My replacements

Austin Rivers - Yes, he's a rookie but at 23 mins a game, he's only averaging 6pts, 2 assts, shooting 54% FT and 33% overall. He'll be out of the league soon

Andreas Bargnani - Every yr he's supposed to step it up and every yr he doesn't.
As the center he's only averaging 4 rebs a game and 0.7 blocks

Last but not least, Andrew Bynum
The Sixers made a big trade and were expecting to contend with him in the middle. Instead he hasn't played a game all yr.
I know he's supposed to be hurt but something out there makes me think he simply doesn't have the heart

I still don't see the Lakers entire starting roster as being disappointing.

In fact, the situation really isn't all that surprising. I would say the real problems are the coach and the GM who fired the previous coach 5 games into the season.

What did they expect?
New PG who is 39 yrs old and was injured after two games
The center coming off back surgery and missed the preseason
PF who had a bad post season and is always hearing trade rumors and in fact was traded but had it rescinded

I think the guys I chose are players who people expected a lot more out of than they are currently producing

But here's an off the topic question
