Decline.. Hockey..
I remember when I first moved to the states back in 1998 there was hockey games on Espn..
And now? You can't find it ANYWHERE..
Seems like the lockout in the early 2000s really hurt the sport..
They went from a bunch of tough guys to spoilt brats who need a spanking..
Staying the same? NFL..
It will never catch on globally..
To similar to rugby.. But a more expensive version..
As we rugby players say.. Shoulder pads are for little girls:)
Inclining NBA
OLYPMIC basketball used to be a joke..
Then Argentina came along.. Then Spain.. Germany.. Italy.. Turkey and France OH MY!
More and more countries will get better and better..
Eventually the leagues in Europe will be almost as good as the one in the states.. Mark my words jaba!!
Baseball inclining..
One of the few American sports that is hands down better than its euro alter ego cricket..
While cricket takes 50 hours to play a match..
You guys only need 3 hours of incredible drama..
The sport will only get bigger and bigger..
Inclining.. Rugby, tennis, soccer, Winter Olympics.. Formula one.
Staying the same NASCAR.
Declining, golf, Tour de France.. Summer Olympics..

Decline... hate to say it, but Baseball.
Steriods has rocked the cement for me. I don't know. Seems as if only the HARDCORE fans are the only one's really keeping up.
incline.... UFC/MMA
Dana's deal with Fox is big time. And one day, he hopes to have ALL the shows on cable television. Dana's deal with Fox is huge, for the simple fact that it brings in fans that possibly are just turning the channels, then all the sudden they see a beatdown. Normally, they're hooked after that.
staying the same.. NBA...
I think today was the first day people really watched the highlights thoroughly, NFL's over.
I don't keep up with Golf, Ruby, horse riding or swimming, so, i don't have a comment on those. ha

UFC is an excellent addition..
And it's counter part boxing is in an obvious state of severe decline..
Whilst baseball obviously get hit by the steroid saga..
They have done a fantastic job in cleaning up the mess..
People will get over this hiccup..
And the sport will continue to grow globally..
Just think how many international players have come over in the last 20 years..
The product will only get better and better..
The world baseball classic and the Olympics are a lot of fun to watch and are great for the game..
Plus the little league World Series shows that the youngsters are getting better and better..
I'm 33 and wouldn't have the slightest of chances of getting a hit off some of those 12 year old Japanese pitchers..
Basketball..
Ok.. The regular season lacks drama..
I wish they could do something about it..
But it is what it is.. Essentially a sport where you only need to start paying attention once the playoffs come around.. Barring the exceptions of the Jeremy Lin and Vince Carter's break out seasons..

I saw Bucky's comments below..
What's the World Series ratings the last couple of years?
Of course they can't be too good.
The steriod hit home with ME. 1994 strike didn't help either..
I hope Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa never get in the baseball hall of fame. I know they won't either.
UFC is on the incline. Sure, the pay per views have gone down, but obviously thte ratings on Fox have GONE UP.
Also Froggy, boxing is not on the decline. There are plenty good fighters not named Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio coming up. YOu have just have to investigate a little bit. Gurantee Floyd will smash the pay per view record he already holds when he fights Canelo in September.

I'll put you on game, Froggy.
Andre Ward.. Olympic Gold Medal... seems invincible at the moment. (out w/ injury tho)
Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios. guy put on one of the best fights I've ever seen this past October
Saul Canelo ..a.k.a the Red Headed Mexican. Huge for his division, and took over once the Manny Sweepstakes ended. You know, the matchup with Floyd.
Austin Trout... Just beat Cotto, Cotto last May gave Floyd Mayweather a helluva a fight.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr... Almost knocked out one of the p4p best, Sergio Martinez, 12th rd.
Tyson Fury, heavyweight that want's to decapitate the Klitschko's too, just like David Haye.
Danny Garcia, cold with the left hand, undefeated. Just wooped Eric Moralas into retirement in the States.
The divisions around the welterweight division.. junior middleweight, super lightweight, all good. There's been a shift in the movement, heavyweights don't own **** anymore, it's the 135-155 lb'ers that are putting on fireworks on a regualr these days. People just don't want to open their eyes. Boxing is not dead like disco.
Also, one last thing I disagree with you, the NFL is not staying the same, I think it's getting even b

You don't see NHL games on ESPN because NBC Sports (formerly VERSUS) outbid ESPN for the rights to show NHL games.
So basically, you aren't seeing it on ESPN because it is illegal for ESPN to show hockey games.

If you look at the recent PPV numbers for UFC it is hard to say they are on the incline anymore. The deal with FOX was big but the sport hasn't seen the growth it had 5 years ago, it has peaked. Combat sports have a low ceiling because most people just don't want to see it. People say boxing is on the decline but it has staid the same over the years. Forbes had an interesting article showing the health of the sport looking at its revenue. Its big events out sell UFC the last couple of years.
Baseball is on the incline, look at the numbers. Steroids didn't shake anything, if anything it has given the sport more exposure. Remember baseball before the steroid guys went after the home run record? Sport is far more popular today.
Hockey made a horrible move going off ESPN. The little bit of money they made was easily lost do to the fact no one watches anymore. I have about 2 people I know that watch that sport anymore and I used to a lot back in the 90s.
NFL is still on the incline. It gains in popularity every year and the growth will continue yet.
NBA is probably about the same but I can't understand why anyone watches. There is no parity in that league. Since 1980 they have had only 9 different champions. Don't understand how most teams can sell their fans on the game when they don't ever have a chance of becoming champions.

NASCAR isn't staying the same either. It was very popular about 10 years ago and has been on the decline ever since. There attendance isn't what it used to be and their ratings have also been in decline.

Didn't mention Broner? He is the next American Super Star. Middleweights are making a good comeback right now as well with lots of young guys coming into form. Martinez won't be champion much longer.
Might have an outside chance at a American Heavyweight in Bryant Jennings. Needs some more fights but he is looking the part. Forget Fury, Price is the better prospect coming out of the UK.
