Flacco's contract will be too big..
You are going to have to give up some key pieces to keep him..
If he was truly elite, fine pay the man..
But he's not and everyone knows it..
What if they lose one of their key receivers?
Then flacco's numbers go down considerably..

Get smith a lot cheaper and you keep your team..
I know flacco is better..
But smith is an excellent game manager..
Which is all this team needs..
They will make the playoffs with smith..
Heck the AFC is so vulnerable they could probably get to the Super Bowl..
And in the Super Bowl anything can happen..

Please don't show flacco the money..
You are not desperate..
Leave it to the dolphins to give him big bucks..

Why would a defending Superbowl champ go after a QB who didn't even start the game for the team they just beat?

If Smith loses his starting job in SF, why would the Ravens want a guy who can't hold down the job?

You just said "I know Flacco is better"

Then you don't sign the QB who is not as good. That's a bad way to run a business.

1) Flacco just won you a Superbowl and was the MVP. He also helped beat some very impressive teams and put up great numbers against 2 premier defenses (Denver and SF).

In fact, he threw 11 TD's with 0 picks in the playoffs (a record performance).

2) They've probably lost both Ed Reed and Lewis. That's a lot of money to shed. They've got some money to spend. Why take a gamble? Even if you don't like Flacco or his game... the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

Flacco: 17,633 yards. 60.5% completion. 102 TD with 56 INT. 86.3 Career rating. Three consecutive seasons with a playoff passer rating of 90.0 or better. 1 Superbowl.

Smith: 14,280 yards. 59.3% completion. 81 TD with 63 INT. 79.1 Career rating. Has played in 1 postseason.

Flacco sic-k-a worse than Eli manning..
Have fun paying tax flacco dot com..
The taxes come from flacco's greed..
If he played the way he played in the regular season like in the playoffs..
Fine pay him..
But he didn't and he just isn't very good..

Smith would have won at least 11 games..

What's your point?
Do you even have a point?

My point is that Smith has done nothing to justify dumping your Superbowl winning QB to go after him instead.

My point is that Flacco has better career numbers in every way, when compared to Smith.

My point is that you even conceded that Flacco is better than Smith.

Flacco came out this year and said he wanted his dues as a top tier QB. He went on to win the Superbowl, just like Eli did. You can hate him all you want, but he wanted to get paid. He wanted to be called a winner and a champ.

He's gonna get his wish, because he came through on the field.

Do you have anything to back up your arguments other than "he sucks" and strange plays on words that nobody understands?

Sometimes you have to know when to walk away..

Did the pats want to walk away from vinaterri?
NO..
But they had to cause he was asking too much..
And then they replaced him with someone almost as effective at a seriously discounted price..

I could understand if the ravens had no options..
But they do..
Winning 10 games with that defense and all those playmakers..
Deep down I know smith could have won 11 games in flacco's position..

Let flacco go to a really desperate team like Miami..
There it makes sense..
In Baltimore.. You are shooting your self in the foot and losing a potential playmaker..

I've watched some sports shows in the last few days and NOBODY says that the Ravens will walk away from Flacco. They can't and they won't.

What options are you talking about? You do realize that any QB worth getting is still on a team and they'd have to make a trade right? Smith isn't a free agent. Hell, neither is Tebow! If a team isn't going to release Tebow, you think San Fran would release Smith before Baltimore gets a QB?

It doesn't take a rocket science to see that Baltimore needs a QB. Nobody is going to release Smith just so he can sign (potentially) with them. IF they wanted to release him, they'd wait until Baltimore spent the money.

I love his stats at the end..
After I already said overpriced flacco was better..

Sadly he wont go to the right team. He will end up in some dump like Cleveland or KC

comparisons of their stats isn't really fair. should be more a comparison of smiths last 2 years vs flaccos as singletary as we've all seen did not have any clue how to use that team.

The Ravens are about $5 million over the cap without signing one UFA or RFA according to the fan 105.7.

BUT letting Flacco go and trading for Smith and his big contract is not the answer unless you want to sabotage the Ravens.....

Wait a minute....maybe that's not such a bad idea after all (says the Steelers Fan)!!!

QB is the most important position in the NFL. You never downgrade at QB to save $$$.

If Flacco walks the Ravens can always sign Jamarcus Russel. I hear he's available and wants to play again. ;^D

He doesn't put up fantasy numbers so he doesn't get the love he should but Flacco is a damn good qb. He already performs well in playoffs, even on the road, and he doesnt turn it over. He has yet to enter what is typically a qbs prime, and already has a ring. If it wasn't for drops he would have been in at least 1 more SUper Bowl already. When you consider age, talent, production, state of the team and potential I don't know if there are 5 other qbs I would feel more comfortable paying big money too over him.

Agreed.

Flacco has won at least 1 playoff game every season of his career. There's not many QBs who can say that, and definitely not for five seasons.
