Wanderlei Silva is easily a top ten mma fighter of all-time.

Every time this guy's fought, he's brought it. Not like DJ brings the pain, but how pch cracks heads on RASTLIN' td's on fannation.

no offense, amigos.

Wanderlei fights to put on a SHOW. Many fighters need to take note. Wanderlei is "gunz a blazin", nearly everytime he's fought.

Anywho, Wanderlei Silva has beaten MANY notables. Easily one of my favorite fights of his, a loss, but to Chuck Liddell.

The "Axe Murderer"'s a LEGEND. Pride and UFC have been his playground, for the most part. When you say "MMA", when you say "WAR", you say, Wanderlei Silva.

I'm not saying this just because of his victory with Brian Stann, but it helps things.

What the hell, I'll bite. I'll just list my top 10 and let you argue away.

1. Anderson Silva
2. Fedor Emelianenko
3. Georges St. Pierre
4. Dan Henderson
5. Chuck Liddell
6. BJ Penn
7. Matt Hughes
8. Shogun Rua
9. Big Nog
10. Jon Jones

alright...

Nice list, I might add.

I'm taking Shogun Rua off @ #8.

Much respect to Shogun, but I think he's right on the outside of the top ten, looking IN.

my top ten...

1. Anderson
2. Fedor
3.*Dan Henderson
4. *GSP swap^
5. Chuck Liddell
6. BJ Penn
7. Matt Hughes
8. Big Nog
9. Jon Jones
10. WANDERLEI SILVA

I know I said easily, but I was thinking over the whole landscape like I should've been.

Wanderlei, courtesty of wiki,"2004 Knockout of the Decade vs. Quinton Jackson on October 31, 2004", by Sports Illustrated

"Longest undefeated winning-streak in PRIDE FC history"~wiki

20!!!!!!!!!!!fights

quote the raven, nevermore..
"I fight for my fans and they know I give my best. Every time I need to give a good show for them because tickets are so expensive and pay-per-view is so expensive. The fans know which fighters want to give a show. I love my fans and fight for my fans. It's so incredible that I'm from Brazil but when I fight American fighters the crowd is much more for me over the American fighters. They know I'm going to put on a show."

There are a few reasons why Shogun should be included in top 10 over Wanderlei.

1. His 2005 Pride MW Grand Prix run. TKO win over Rampage, win over Lil Nog, TKO win over Alistair Overeem, and KO win over Ricardo Arona. One of the great runs in mixed martial arts history.

2. Shogun was a UFC champion. Something Wanderlei never accomplished. In fact Wanderlei is 5-7 in the UFC. None over any elite fighters.

3. Shogun has wins over former UFC LHW champions in Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Lyoto Machida.

Let's be honest, almost everyone loves Wanderlei Silva, but his resume is littered with cans and simply doesn't match up to the resume of Shogun Rua.

Shogun has the better resume, better wins, held the Pride and UFC belts. He's better than Wanderlei.

It's hard to argue. Both are in different spots in their careers. Shogun has plenty of matches left, and Wanderlei has a couple.

Given that, and that Wanderlei, has produced more MEMORABLE fights, I'd give Wanderlei the edge for now. If Shogun happens to win the lightheavyweight title in the UFC again, then yeah, you got me. With Bone Jones fighting the way he's fighting, I doubt he loses it for a little while. haha

Shogun's the man, can't complain. But when you look at the sport as a whole, Wanderlei sticks out a little more.

Wanderlei, courtesy of wiki, " He holds the record for the most wins, knockouts, title defenses, and longest winning streak in PRIDE history"

That says a WHOLE lot. Pride is a big deal in my book. You can make fun of Wanderlei's record in the UFC all you want, even make fun of the opponents. Wanderlei has FIVE "fight of the nights"... to Shogun's measley 2

Wanderlei's a mudder ****'n bad ass. He's TKO'd/KO'd rampage in their two fights, with the 'ol knees! Rampage has a frkn CHIN. Anywho, he's 2-1 overall against him.

I would just like to apologize to the "natural". I didn't mention him, and neither did you, Jim.

Fedor, Chuck and Wandy don't belong on this list....all 3 compiled records built on beating up bums...when MMA evolved from untrained brawlers to well rounded MMA fighters, they LOST. Some fighters have evolved with the sport (BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva) or have been a cause of the evolution of the sport (Royce Gracie, Matt Hughes)...and some took advantage of a lack of depth in MMA's infancy(Fedor, Road Rage, Chuck, Wandy, Ken Shamrock)...

a guy being a fan favorite does NOT mean he is a top 10 fighter....Wandy isn't even a top 50 fighter...

Peach, If Wanderlei is "easily" a top ten fighter, shouldn't he be higher on your list than 10'th?

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking of my top ten when i blurted out this td, but he's not 10. Randy Couture wasn't mentioned on either one of our top tens. I think we spur of the moment, bud.

*I stand firm on Wanderlei number 10

When you think of fights, it's more than wins and losses. Many players in the hall of fame have never won a superbowl, get my drift?

KO machine for a good stretch, and the height of mma.

height of MMA hasn't arrived yet....this is perhaps the adolescence of MMA as it tries to grow so much....Chuck was during MMA's childhood....
