Bill Russell is the greatest winner of all time. He won 8 championships in a row and 11 total. His rival, Wilt Chamberlain, only won two.

Bill Russell should be considered the better player right?

Greatness is determined by how much you help/lead your team to a championship.

Greatness isn't determined by how many points you can score, or how many rebounds you can grab.

Since this is true, Bill Russell is obviously the greater player than Wilt Chamberlain.

Exactly..bums like Marino are NOTHING too..if you cant get it done in the play-off's, your career matters not. Marino would trade his entire regular season career to have " Elite Joe Flacco's " SuperBowl Ring.

Flacco > Marino

Seriously who wants to go down as just a regular season performer ??

Karl Malone and John Stockton are bums too while we're at it. Since Chris Bosh has a Championship, that makes him better than those 2 useless bums.

Bosh > Malone
Bosh > Stockton

I'll move on to the NHL..Jarome Iginla doesnt have a Stanely Cup to his resume either..yup, that makes him a bum.

Last years Stanley Cup Champs are the LA Kings...yup..everybody on that team is better than Iggy too.

Jarret Stoll > Iginla
Dustin Penner > Iginla

You picking up what im putting down ?? Yes, even passengers on championship teams are infinitely better than the so called "greats"......

Regular season accomplishments mean jack squat..WINNING IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!

You misunderstand what I am saying.

Championships are the most important thing in sports. However, if you don't get the chance to win because of lack of talent on your team like Dominique Wilkins (Or because someone was just TOO dominant like John Stockton/Karl Malone/Charles Barkley faced in the 1990's with Jordan), then you can't say they are not great.

Now back to Wilt and Russell.

Wilt focused ALL on stats. Russell focused ALL on winning.

Someone who wins more than another will always go down as the greater player (Unless they don't get a chance to win like Malone, Stockton, Barkley. They didn't get the chance to win because Jordan was just TOO dominant).

Like you said, Bosh is not better than Malone and Stockton. But Wilt and Russell had the same amount of talent (I will take Elgin Baylor and Jerry West over Bob Cousy and John Havlicek any day). Since Russell won ELEVEN more times than Wilt, he will go down as the greater player.

Robert Horry: 7 rings

Charles Barkley: zero

Just an example but nobody would seriously say that Horry was a better hoopster than Chuck.

I disagree with lefts view, but right argument is silly. Comparing Bill Russell as a basketball player to Joe Flacco as a football player is insane.

Left is facing a MAJOR uphill battle.

Russell may have played for great teams but Wilt's numbers are off the charts.

Agreed. Bill Russell is an all time great. Talk about him and your selection. I don't care about Joe Flacco in a TD about these NBA greats.
