Grizzlies, clippers, spurs and rockets
Warriors, Orleans and port
2 over Minnesota, New Orleans and warriors..
Jazz make it by one!
Jazz are on a roll..
Winning 5 of their last 6..
Plus they have more hunger..
This will be better for the league?
1. The jazz bring fresh blood to the playoffs..
It would be like the little engine that could..
2. People hate the lakers and Yankees with a passion..
And people want to see these teams not only fail, but ideally get humiliated in the process..
3. Everyone hates Kobe Bryant..
They hated him from the word go cause he is a tool..
4. Both teams will get killed 1st round anyway..
But it will mean more to jazz fans to get to the playoffs cause they will essentially knock out their hated rivals lakers in the process..
5. The jazz offer a potential Cinderella story just like Wichita!
6. The lakers offer a dysfunctional underachieving team..
People don't like to watch dysfunctional underachieving teams..

I'd like to see the Lakers in the playoffs but for less obvious reasons
Just think for a minute, if the Lakers don't make the playoffs, then they become a lottery team.
In true fashion, the Lakers in cahoots with David Stern will miraculously get the top pick in the draft.
The Laker empire will live on with either a great young guard or a Noel from Kentucky. Or maybe, they'll trade the pick along with Pau Gasol for Carmelo Anthony after the Knicks flop out of the playoffs.
I say let the Lakers get the 8th seed, lose handily in the playoffs to either San Antonio or OKC.
NBA fans will actually watch the game
Can you imagine the ratings for a 1st rd Utah vs San Antonio match up?
I wouldn't mind seeing the Lakers fall apart at the seems against a superior team. Kobe starts yelling at Howard
Nash gets put out to pasture by Westbrook or Parker
And if not....
Then maybe the Lakers pull it together and actually make it competitive
With Utah, there is no story
They get swept, end of story

Oh blast! The lakers beat the grizzlies:(
I was kind of counting on the to blow this one..
The humiliation of the lakers not making the play offs would be greater than losing meekly in the first round..
And it would be a real black mark on Kobe's legacy..
If Utah makes the playoffs the jazz fans will be ecstatic..
If the lakers make the playoffs.. Los Angeles fans won't care..
It's just a better feel good story if Utah were to make the playoffs..
I for one can't stand this years lakers..
I hate dysfunctional teams..
This race reminds me of the 2011 MLB race for the wild card..
Even as a Red Sox fan.. There was apart of me that wanted the train wreck sox to implode and get over taken by the rays..
Cause people remember train wrecks longer than losing meekly in the first round..

My main issue with any match up involving the Jazz and either San Antonio or OKC is that it would simply not be competitive.
The Jazz are an okay team but have no stars, no potential stars and they don't do anything great.
They might make the games look respectable but everyone knows they will not win.
The Lakers on the other hand will have people either vehemently rooting against them, or the definitely rooting for them.
In fact, I'd imagine that a match up between the Lakers and either OKC or San Antonio would probably be the most watched games of the entire first rd. By far!
Also, the Lakers would not go out quietly.
Even if they get blown out in every game, you can be sure that the blame game will be fun to watch
Kobe will call out a teammate or two
Howard will be asked a million times, if he's returning
D'Antoni will be asked is he worried about his job
Phil Jackson will be asked would they have lost if he was the coach
And yes, Lakers fans will care, a lot
They have Kobe, Gasol, Howard and Nash.
All they want is a shot and if it's against Tim Duncan, all the better
With the Jazz, there is no intrigue at all

Well the lakers got totally destroyed by the clippers today..
You are backing the wrong pony..
I still think its utahs race to lose..
Utah fans are immensely passionate about their beloved jazz..
We don't have an NFL team or a baseball team:(
Basketball is the only thing we have..
And if you are not a Mormon it's really hard to chase skirt..
Bunch of overpaid crybabys.
Why do you want to see Kobe shout at Howard?
If they miss the playoffs, Kobe will shout at himself..
That's much better!
Utah saints have Hayward!

I guess it depends on who you'd rather see play in a first rd match up
Kobe Bryant or Gordan Heyward
D Howard or Al Jefferson
Nash or Mo Williams
Gasol or Derrick Favors
I don't think either team will beat OKC or San Antonio, but at the very least, the Lakers will be more entertaining and competitive
OKC and San Antonio are two of the top 3 teams in the league. They have a good mix of veterans and young players who can ball.
No one on the Utah has shown anything in their career to suggest they will have a monster playoff series and pull of the big upset.
Kobe on the other hand might average 40
Howard may pull in 20 pts, 20 rebs a game
Nash may turn back the clock and school Westbrook or Parker and will his team to win
That's why most fans want to see the Lakers
Because of the unexpected
With Utah, we know what will happen.
I say the Lakers might even steal a game in LA and make things interesting.
For that alone, I'd rather see the Lakers
