Why? Because you say so? Sure, he has lost 3 of his last 4 fights, but this is the first time he's lost back to back fights.
Fitch is only 35 years old. I don't think he's done. Before losing to Burkman, he lost to Demian Maia and Johnny Hendricks. 2 pretty damn good fighters. But, the manner Burkman ended it was stunning. Fitch admitted he made a mistake with his choke defense and was going to try and slam him. It happens.
He made 28 submission attempts defended in the UFC, a record.
And lets not act like the UFC releasing him was a decision that went over well. It didn't. Like I said earlier, Maia and Hendricks are the cream of the crop at 170 pounds.
Oh, SI had Fitch ranked 7th at 170 before the Burkman fight.
Retire? Get real, PCH.

He got assaulted. Call 9-1-1.
Fitch has fought the best, GSP, BJ PENN, and now, he's just scraps. Scraps for The "World Series of MMA" promotion. 35 isn't old, but it's not young. Why tarnish your career?
And since when is Burkman Michael Jordan? lmao
He nearly decapitated Fitch. Fitch's grappling was always his strong suit.

So, a whole lot of hot air and no real reason WHY he should retire. Didn't respond to anything I said in my 1st argument.
Fitch started his career off hot as a firecracker like most fighters. He compiled an 18-2 record. Since then? A very respectable 6-4. And most recently, he's lost 3 of his last 4, but he's still a good fighter. The loss to Burkman just goes to show you how much a mistake can cost a fighter. You have to always be thinking one step ahead.
If Fitch is healthy and wants to continue fighting, he should.
PCH said 06/16, 04:09 PM
I doubt he's too healthy. He just got smacked down in 41 seconds by Burkman of all people. lol
World Series of MMA is like the 3rd best promotion in the states, if that. Fitch just got worked in the Main Event.
Like I stated, this the same guy that went 5 whole rounds with GSP, had a draw with the GREAT BJ Penn. So yeah, seeing him get beat by a guy not all his caliber, and guy he's already beaten in his career in only 2 rounds, yeah, he needs go bag it up..
Did you actually see Fitch get murdered in the octagon?
It was a sight for sore eyes.
DJ: RIP Nelson Mandela said 06/17, 03:10 PM
Just cause he got whacked doesn't mean he's not healthy, PCH. SMH. You're better than that.
Burkman isn't some scrub either. He's won 5 straight fights and is a pretty good submission artist. Fitch got caught. It happens. It isn't like he's used to being submitted. Time to go back to the old drawing board.
Just this past October, Fitch defeated Erick Silva in the fight of the night. He's a borderline top 10 fighter at 170. So, in less than a year he's done? I just don't see it. Especially, considering he signed a 4 fight deal with WSOF. If he continues to struggle in the ensuing few fights then I'd say he should hang it up and find his new life after MMA.
Not everyone likes Fitch, some think he's boring. But, he's a very good fighter. He grinds it out and scores points, a lot like GSP. He just isn't as popular or as good.
