I remember the home run chase of 98 very well..
I had just come to the states in late August..
And immediately got hooked..
All of my college friends would turn on the Sosa and McGwire games and be totally entranced by it.. Must see tv..
Then when McGwire broke the record it was like a force field.. A wonderous force field..
Damn.. I barely watched any regular season last year..
Especially with the 2nd wild card, there is even less drama..
Tour de France..
Lance was a freak before he got on the pill..
Then he became a god..
He was the reason why I got hooked on the sport..
The way he bombed up those mountains was just unbelievably inspiring..
But luckily, in that sport there will always be dope fiends..
A sport we all grew up watching as little ones..
Part of the fun is seeing insanely ripped human beings..
It makes them look like super heroes..
People want to be entertained..
We want excitement and to see impossible things..
Steroids are just.. Brilliant..
If they want to harm their bodies..
GO FOR IT!
They get richly compensated anyways..

Steriods and the Strike of '94 ruined baseball for me.
It's not just a coincidence that the NFL's the new American past time.
I did enjoy the McGwire vs Sosa '98 bash party, but it inevitably didn't help, it hurt it.
Roids inflates stats, but it doesn't inflate interest in the long run.
