The Yankees have had a long tradition of excellence. While I am not a Yankee fan, I appreciate the talent they have had over the years.
Here is my Yankee Mount Rushmore:
I understand I have left out Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, and many other icons of pinstripes...but this is who I selected.
Best of luck to whoever takes this.....

Babe and Jeter stay.
Yogi Berra was a tough choice. His 13 World Series rings are the only thing that separates him from Mantle and DiMaggio. So Berra stays
So that means I have one change, and it is an obvious one. The second greatest Yankee of all-time has to be included, so Lou Gehrig takes his place over Mo. I've never seen anyone try to attempt that Lou isn't the second greatest Yankee ever.
First, it needs to be acknowledge that Rivera is a relief pitcher, and provides a very limited value due to the amount of playing time. Lou Gerhig played nearly double the amount of consecutive games as Rivera has pitched innings. Rivera has only once in his career topped 80 innings.
Sure Rivera may rank as the greatest relief pitcher of all-time, but that doesn't take away on how limited of a role it is. Meanwhile, Gehrig is widely considered the greatest 1B of all-time, a position that is much deeper than the position of failed starters, and has a longer history
Lou has 6 rings, 2 MVPs, and countless other awards and accolades
I'll get into more stats later, but Gehrig has a 116 fWar (15th all-time, 2nd on Yankees) to Mo's 40 (26th on NYY)

Down 8-0 before I even type my second argument....this is a loss for sure and I think that I would even vote for Argos.
It's a shame that SI is letting this part of their site just disappear.
When I first joined the site was great...there were many talented TD'ers and the blogs were usually great reading. Looks like its just going down the toilet (just like my arguments).
Hopefully TD section can get some more dedicated members.
Great argument Argos.....

I have Jeter on over DiMaggio and Mantle because he represents different Yankees teams. Jeter is the face of the modern Yankees and their recent dynasty. New Yankee stadium has been called the house that Derek built. I think Derek is a must have, right up there with Lou and Babe.
I initially had Mantle over Berra but ran out of argument space. Berra though has been on more championship teams than any other Yankee. 13 titles and one of the greatest catchers of all time.
