1. QB..
What is the deal?
You Americans have 4 great QBs..
6 pretty good QBs..
5 that that are C-..
And then the rest stink..
Maybe it's cause this position sticks out like a sore thumb..

2. Strikers..
Ha ha.. Us euro trash:)..
We don't have many good strikers in soccer..
Especially from the motherland England..
Arsenal and Chelsea, 2 of the best London teams, neither one has a striker..
I won't lie..
Plus many of them fade faster than the sun..

3. Tennis from 1980 till the rodger federer-nadal-djokovic-Murray era..
Does anyone REALLY think, other than Sampras.. Any other tennis player from these 2 era's, would be able to handle the big four?
No.. Not even Agassi or McEnroe..
Maybe Borg on clay would be ok.. But even Borg would be no match for nadal at the French..

4. Closers in baseball..
Here is the dirty secret about closers..
Alot of them aren't very good..
I respect Rivera..
And a couple of other guys..
But I remember about 10 years ago.. Urbina had a 40 save season and 9 blown saves.. How hard can it be to reach the magic number of 40 saves, when you can blow 22.5% of your save opportunities..

5. Goalies in soccer.. Eg arsenal..

So you say half the league's is above average.
Isn't that kinda the point?
Shouldn't the other half be below average?

1. The heavyweight division in MMA
Talk about THIN- except of course, the fighters

2. Boxing
Give me a PPV fight that doesn't have a champion in one of the 187 weightclasses.

Better yet- Try and sell a card without anyone ranked in the top 3 anywhere on the card- and get more than 10 bucks on PPV

3. DH in baseball.
If your ONLY job is to hit, how can you be great if you fail 70% of the time at best?

4. Fox Sports 1

When Randy Moss says you need to try harder, you have a problem

5. Centers in the NBA

Howard, and then a bunch of Power Forwards. Then Bogut

The QB might be the most important position in all of sports..
I just find it amazing that there are soooo many bad QBs..
There are a zillion highly effective RBs.. Alot of great players in the league..
I just find it weird that there can be soooo many bad QBs..
And alot of bad QBs have a 15 year career..
They are kind of like that turd that won't flush..
And then if you are average like cutler or romo, it means you are going to make the play offs alot over the next 15 years..
There's nothing wrong with it.. But it's going to be soooo hard for the sport to expand, cause there's already a ton of bad QBs and its kind of an important position..
At least with strikers in soccer, the position isn't as important..
You can still play attractive soccer if you don't have a striker..
But if you have a bad QB, it's extremely ugly to watch..

You do understand that the cruddiest QB in the NFL is still one of the 50 best people on the planet at that Job on the pro level?

How do you count them as lousy? Not like the QB is the be-all end of success. Not to mention numbers that even Cassel and Weeden puts up would be an All-Pro in the 70s and yards per attempt in the 60s would be laughable today.

Swap Tebow for Bradshaw . . . .

We did forget a quasi-Sports that is HORRIBLE at their jobs.

I'm out of ammo and I have a hot Internet date tonight!

This seems kind of backwards.

Although this is a major reason why the NFL should not add any additional teams: there's not enough quality QBs to go around.

You just end up watering down the product.

the DH should be number one. all you're being paid to do it hit. and many of them do it extremely poorly

October 9, 2013  10:48 PM ET

Why did you go current on all of them, but then choose the 80s to 2000ish for tennis?

October 9, 2013  10:54 PM ET

QB should not be on this list. Manning and Brady are considered the GOAT by some people. If you judge the NHL by comparing people to Gretzky or SG today compared to MJ they looks weak as he'll too,

October 10, 2013  02:06 AM ET

Not saying closer is a particularly deep position in MLB but the top closers have been insanely good over the last few years. Like historically good.

I think that's where I have a problem with this topic. I don't know how to make any legitimate comparisons between different positions in different sports.

HCF says there are 15 acceptable NFL QB's. Roughly half of all starters, then. And four are probably all time treats.

I have a hard time figuring out where the 2013 QB class stacks up against starters from other NFL eras, let alone comparing that to, say, the Sampras era of tennis, a sport in which (I'm assuming) hundreds of players compete and are ranked.

Confusing.

That, too. Shouldn't it be the bottom five instead of the top five?

Or just the five worst, or something? The list itself doesn't have to have a designation.

Interesting..

Do you guys realize that only about 6 teams in the AL even list a DH on their roster?

IF the DH is such a great position and the AL is so adamant about using it, then why the hell doesn't every team in the AL have one?

There is exactly 1 (one) legitimate DH in the AL right now. Big Papi.

October 10, 2013  01:22 PM ET

Maybe two, if you count V Mart

October 10, 2013  01:29 PM ET

And Billy B, but that's it,...that's my last addition...........three out of 15 AL teams

Kickers are sub-human. Not real players. Shouldn't be allowed to stand near the real players.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

I go so far as to believe that kickers should be removed from football. No more field goals, extra points, or kickoffs, especially since kickoffs are irrelevant for the most part now anyway.

I think this would make the game better, more entertaining, and less is the hands (feet?) of scrawny wimps who basically aren't even football players yet manage to win games at the last second. Never seemed right to me that after 59+ minutes of football players slugging it out, some soccer player could pop in at the last second and win the game with a cheesy **** field goal.

If you remove kickers, don't you have to change the name of the game?

Lol I suppose but football was never a fitting name, anyway. Plus the rest of the world already uses that term for soccer.

I can think of like five.

How is Romo average? And why isn't his alleged averageness paying off in the form of "making the playoffs a lot"?
