Renan Barao is a top 6 pound for pound fighter in the world right now! (men & women combined)

As of today ESPN has Renan Barao ranked 7th on their MMA top ten P4P rankings which excludes women, Sherdog has Barao ranked 9th & that list also excludes women.
NOTE: most P4P list have their own separate list for women. In this argument i will include them
I believe based off of his body of work Renan Barao is not receiving the recognition he deserves amongst the MMA pundits within their Pound for Pound rankings. my rankings go as follows
1) Jon Jones
2) Ronda Rousey
3) GSP
4) Jose Aldo
5) Renan Barao
6) Anderson Silva
7) Chris Weidman
8) Anthony Pettis
9) Demetrious Johnson
10) Cain Velasquez
(if youd like to argue over the entire list feel free to challenge me sometime)

i argue that there are conceivably 5 fighters who could outrank Barao to include Jones, Rousey, GSP, Aldo, & Possibly Anderson Silva. Barao is on a 31 fight streak without losing that dates back to 2005, he has beat fighters like Wineland, McDonald, jorgensen, Pickett, Cariaso and Urijah Faber. All of which were decisive victories. None of the fighters i ranked below him can claim anything similar to that to include Anderson Silva pre-Weidman fight. So i believe he should ranked top 6! goodluck!

Long time no TD.

There's much I have to dispute with your argument, but we can focus on Barao NOT being a top five or six pound for pound fighter in the UFC. In no specific order, I have the following fighters ranked above him...

Jon Jones
Anderson Silva
GSP
Jose Aldo
Anthony Pettis
Cain Velasquez

This isn't to necessarily take anything away from Barao. Only Silva is not currently a champion in his respective weight division, and his accolades surpass that of any active MMA fighter anyway.

Barao certainly has had his share of highlight wins, but it's not comparable to my fighters. Jones, Silva, and GSP have cleared out their respective divisions and are on a different level.

Aldo's single loss came 8 years ago, Pettis just beat a top 10 P4P fighter to add to his list of impressive wins, and Velasquez's single loss came at the hands of JDS, someone who has a case of his own for being top 10 P4P.

I'll dive furthermore into the level of opponents and MMA's "What Have You Done For Me Lately" Attitude in my next arguments.

Ill focus on two of your choices Cain and Pettis being above him. So looking at the level of competition Cain has fought who besides JDS and Lesnar has Cain really fought? and please dont bring up Big Nog he is waaaaay over the hill and has been. My point being that Cain hasnt fought the best in his division to be ranked so high.
Pettis has lost to Guida and absolutely struggled with Jeremy Stephens who has never been ranked in the top ten of his own weight class. He just happens to be a perfect matchup with Henderson so he took the title. i gurantee within the next 12 months barring injury Pettis will NOT have his title still. now look at Renan Barao's streak along with his level of competition. He has fought all of the absolute best and has come out on top in each fight very clearly. All that is left for him is Dominik Cruz who he will beat in my opinion but that is different. So for me everything boils down to Pettis not being worthy due to his struggles with fighters who arent on the same level as him, Cain not fighting the absolute best and getting KO'd by JDS which is nothing to be ashamed of but Barao has not even been beaten let alone KO'd. Barao is a top 6 P4P fighter

As of today ESPN has Renan Barao ranked 7th on their MMA top ten P4P rankings

As of May 13 Bararo ranked 8th.

Criteria used in combination to decide rankings (some are more important than others and some don't matter greatly due to the fighter excelling in another) - Performances (including dominance, finishing ability, mental strength/toughness, heart), level of competition, longevity against top competition, level of skills, competing at physical or skill disadvantages, well-roundedness of skills, career r??sum??.

Bararo may land in the top 6 in the future, but for now, you seem to be pointing out a little know/or understood personal enlightenment.

Any turnout is a great turn out. Because the only people who know anything are the ones that were here around 07-08.

For the first time ever I agree with your name.

RIP, little man. Sorry that your life ended in such a tragic (allegedly) and brutal fashion. I don't know what happens when we die but I hope you are now at peace, and that ultimately there will be vengeance served on the (alleged) perp.
