Martin vs incognito.. Who would you rather have as a team mate?

I'll take incognito..

The biggest problem with Martin, is he doesn't know when to stand up for himself..
Martin is 6'4 and 320lbs..
At some point, if a guy is pissing you off that much..
You either kick him in the balls, or sucker punch him from behind..
I understand these things have a hierarchy..
But your team mates will respect you more if you act with violence, than what Martin did, which was to tell upper management..

I don't like incognito..
I don't respect his bullying antics..
But this story just doesn't make any sense to me..
How can a guy weighing 320lbs get bullied? Especially since the 320er is suppose to be a tough football player..

Maybe Martin is in the wrong sport..
Maybe he is too nice to play a blood sport..

But you have to admit, Martin did a horrible job handling this situation..

I don't like fighting..
I haven't been in a fight since I was 7 years old..
However, even I know that there are going to be times in life, where throwing a few punches might be necessary, (I go out to bars alot:)..

And yes.. I'm really bored! Ha ha..

If Martin had been somebody like Jovan Belcher...it's very possible that Incognito would be worm food right about now. Not advocating violence, but in our ever-changing society where you never know what's going on in somebody else's head until it's too late, people need to think twice about messing with others.

I'd take Martin any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Because, you don't need problems like Incognito in the locker room. He's one of the dirtiest players in the League, leading the NFL in unnecessary roughness penalties 4 times. And he's been suspended from each and every one of the teams he has played for.

"Hate is a strong word but I've always hated Incognito," former NFL defensive end Lawrence Jackson Tweeted after the news broke. "Just for perspective, he's the guy that makes you want to spit in his face. Richie Incognito is...a dirty and disrespectful player. For those wondering...I played him 4x when I was with Seattle. We all knew to watch our KNEES and be alert for his antics."

I think you are over estimating the problems with incognito..
Alot of his team mates have supported him throughout this bizzare ordeal..
And alot of his dolphin team mates have called incognito their friend..
So incognito is not a clubhouse cancer..

We also have to remember that a coach told him to "toughen" up Martin..
So I think we have to put some of the blame on dolphins management here..
But, yes.. Incognito took it too far..

Martin? As a team mate?
No thanks.. I think I will pass..
Martin sounds like a good person..
But it also sounds like he is in the wrong sport..
Alot of his fellow peers who play in the same position as Martin, have that tough Marine/biker personality.. These are guys that you do not want to get angry at a bar, or you might be spitting out teeth..

Plus with incognito, you get the element of fear factor..
Guys don't like playing against him for obvious reasons..
And you know incognito is going to be 100% pumped up for the game..

"Alot of his team mates have supported him throughout this bizzare ordeal.."

Cover-up. He's well-liked by his teammates while Martin is seen as the outsider because he doesn't share in the macho attitude in the locker room.

"So incognito is not a clubhouse cancer.."

Nobody said he was, but the fact is he is a dirty player. The St.Louis Rams gave up on him after 3 seasons when he headbutted 2 opponents in 2009, he was commonly penalized for unnecessary roughness. He led the League in that category. He only lasted 3 games with the Buffalo Bills before he wound up with the Dolphins.

According to USA Today, in 2002 when he was a freshman at Nebraska he bullrushed a non scholarship player by the name of Jack Limbaugh from behind, sending him to the ground.

Why? No reason was given. Limbaugh's reaction was similar to Martin's. He didn't respond, he picked up his gear and left.

"Plus with incognito, you get the element of fear factor.."

I guarantee no NFL player is scared of him.

He's a punk, plain and simple.

Ok..

If you were in a fox hole in Afghanistan, and the Arabs are coming to chop your head off..
Who would you rather have in the fox hole?
Incognito or Martin?
It's got to be incognito!
Cause we both know, incognito might start doing some Rambo shee-iat and open up a huge can of whoop-a----as..
It's a relevant example because NFL is a type of war..
People risk serious injury, and the concussions result in depression and sometimes suicide..

Ok, as a counter example..
Who would you feel more comfortable taking your lady friend out for a glass of wine and inexpensive cheese?
Incognito or Martin?
Here, it's got to be Martin!
He can act as the gay friend, who can listen to your lady friend's problems and try to calm her down, as your lady friend BEE-iatches about you behind your back..
It's an extreme example, but it nails the point across..

Martin is just too nice..
I'm not saying nice guys can't play sports..
I'm saying, for his position in the NFL, you want a tough guy..
A tough guy who's not afraid to invite you over to his house, so you can do vodka with no ice and bone his sister..

Incognito all the way!

"It's a relevant example because NFL is a type of war.."

Cliche city.

War: War is an organized and often prolonged conflict that is carried out by states or non-state actors. It is generally characterized by extreme violence, social disruption, and economic destruction.

It's a freakin' game where players can get hurt. Comparing it to war is just ludicrous.
I was wondering when the mysterious Arab (that stole your girlfriend) was going to make a cameo.

Martin went to Stanford, he's a smart guy. I want the smart guy, not the freakin' dunderhead (who may cost the team valuable yards with stupid penalties) on my team. Incognito makes stupid penalties that stall drives and result in punting the ball to the other team.

I hope he???s saved a lot of cash because Richie is done in the NFL. No team is going to be willing to bring him in when he will attract more attention than Tim Tebow and the circus he brings. He needs to try and salvage what he has remaining if his life. Maybe, start with some therapy and not be such a POS.

Martin has a much better chance of making a squad and I'd take him any day over Richie Incognito

I don't really agree that I'd rather have Incognito but I'm not sure I'd want Martin, either. Seems like maybe he has been deceptive; like maybe he was a little more openly accepting of the bad language and whatnot than he previously led us to believe.

Initially I thought this was relatively black and white; Incognito was the instigator and Martin was the innocent victim. Now it appears Martin was at least somewhat involved in the rough talking, and also that he tried telling Incognito he didn't blame him.

Not sure what to think anymore.

I disagree that Martin should've resorted to violence, though. This is 2013. There's no place for workplace violence in today's society, period.

Some level of diplomacy would've sufficed.

They are trying to cover-up for Incognito. There is no defending that voicemail or for Richie to ever say he's going to "find his mother." Or that they would run a train on his sister.

I agree; you can't defend anything Incognito said. But the fact that Martin told Incognito he was gonna kill his entire ****-ing family takes away from Martin's claims of intolerable hazing.

This whole deal has grown confusing and tiresome. I miss the pre-internet/cell phone days, when we didn't know every single thing everyone on the planet ever did and said.

The information age is a bit of a drag.

I've read your argument.... but it's half filled with quotes, not your own words. At least Froggy originally "brought the pain" in his introduction.

I have to disagree. Martin hasn't lived up to his 2nd round selection in his career as a Dolphin's offensive linemen and his continued struggles lead Dolphin coaches to ask Incognito to step in and see if he can get Martin be more involved with the offensive linemen, which could lead to a more cohesive unit (an erroneous move by the coaching staff considering Incognito's history). Martin was also fined for $10,000 for an illegal clipping penalty.

Incognito also didn't have any major issues (suspension) during his tenure as a Buffalo Bill. In fact, Martin could have learned from Incognito who had helped the Ram's produce one of only four offenses in NFL history to accomplish a 4,000-yard passer, a 1,500-yard rusher, and two 1,000-yard receivers (source-Wiki). Incognito has been successful as a right and left guard, and as a center, and also earned his first Pro Bowl selection last season.

IMO Martin is using the "system" to his advantage and more power to him, but is he really the better player to have around?

Sometimes in life you have to use the "KISS" system instead of making the water more murkier than it needs to be....

This is a small sample of our current society:

Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a top seller

One of this years top music video

It's a grey world out there, you don't need to "bring the pain".

Simple solution.

Don't click on my TD's. Yet, you always do.

You might be right but that's not one of the choices in this TD and Incognito is definetly not who I'd chose.

November 12, 2013  12:59 PM ET

Maybe Incognito should have been a little more incognito.

November 12, 2013  02:13 PM ET

I wouldn't want either as a teammate, one is a barbarian lunatic, the other is a wuss, Probably choose Martin in a courtroom, and Incognito in a bar fight....since that is not the question of this throwdown, I'm going to check out the next arguments to see if either can convince me....

Easy for you to say. I wonder what Tannehill has to say about missing the starters from the left side of the line.
