mlb ill explain in next argument. what do u think and y

I am gonna say the NFL. How can it not be? Every single position requires something so special and rare, it is just incredible.

What baseball player needs to be 6'5"-6'9" and 310-350 pounds, while being able to be as fast as a running back in the 10 yard dash?

What baseball player needs to be able to take a handoff, choose a direction in a split second, and then break tackles on the way to a score?

What baseball player needs to take a snap, and then throw a ball to a receiver in under 3 seconds while making sure that 11 other guys cannot kill him or intercept the ball?

What baseball player needs to catch a ball thrown 10 feet in the air while being slammed in the head by a 220 pound safety who can run 40 yards in 4.5 seconds?

What baseball player needs to be able to run around and over men who weigh between 10-100 pounds more than themselves?

What baseball player needs to be able to run stride for stride with world class athletes, never knowing which direction that person will run in?

See my point?

i would like to see a NFL player play in the MLB. anyone can train themselves enough to hit someone. not everyone can hit a 95mph+ fastball in under about 2 seconds. not everyone can throw the ball that hard. or catch, throw, turn dps, field, steal bases, or have enough patience to only make a few plays a game. in the nfl you can screw up a couple times a game and still win. in the mlb, if u dont get a hit with the bases loaded, you most likely will lose. see my point?

Wow. Baseball... nothing like hitting a ball...

Now, you say you can train yourself to hit people. That is entirely untrue. Do you think that you could train yourself to bull rush a 320 pound offensive lineman? Would you be able to tackle Steven Jackson head on if you trained for a bit? Training is nothin'. It is making supremely talented players better at what they do. If football were as easy as "training", everyone would be an All Pro, and there would be no such thing as a bust.

And, no, I don't see your point as to the things you mentioned. Now you say that people have to make split second decision when they catch, throw, turn double plays, etc. Now let me ask you something: When they make these split second decisions, are there 4-8 men, who weigh 230-325 pounds and are some of the most physically gifted athletes in the world, rushing them head on? And do they have to worry about 4-8 people who are trying to the ball for the other team? Don't think so. And you say they have to know when to run... Do they have to pick one of several different holes to run through? Do they have to worry about being blindsided by a 250 beast? Didn't think so.

first off i dont think you see my point. baseball takes the most skill. football is just physical. yes i do think people can train themselves to bull rush a 320 lb lineman or tackle guys like stephen jackson. and about the busts. theres busts in baseball too ya know. more than in football. no baseball players dont have to worry about being blindsided by beasts. but it doesnt take skill to get blindsided. i can see you dont watch much baseball.

Not the MLB at all. If you think baseball requires more skill, you have never played football. I have played a year of football (hopefully more soon), as well as studying and playing pick up versions of the game for years. I played baseball for 4 years.

Football is so much harder, and requires so much more talent to succeed in, that it isn't even close.

i'll vote when everyone presents all of their arguments this is a very good T.D. tired of the Colts and Patriots TD'S.

October 23, 2007  04:31 PM ET

My vote is to Eagle Hater.

Baseball takes the most shill though. You have to make all these decisions in less than a half a second. You have to decide if you are going to swing and then you have swing and hit the ball and hit the ball on the right part of that bat.

You have to be really skilled to do that. You also have to hit other pitchers which move and all that. It is nearly impossible

It says more skill not more physical.

October 23, 2007  04:37 PM ET

NFL.

October 23, 2007  04:38 PM ET

NBA. It's all skill.

October 23, 2007  04:41 PM ET

Peavy, NBA is a lot of skill, true, but it also has to do a lot with whether the player has luck, in the form of being 1-2 feet taller than the average human being.

October 23, 2007  04:41 PM ET

definitly nba

October 23, 2007  04:43 PM ET

Sorry, Height and weight are not a skill.

October 23, 2007  04:46 PM ET

If the NBA is all skill:

Explain to me George Muresan.

I'll be here all night if need be.

October 23, 2007  04:46 PM ET

CCC, how can you say swinging at a ball takes more skill than being able to run over, around, and past 300 pound monsters?

You can't have played football if you say that. Height and weight aren't a skill, true, but quick feet, a sharp mind, great strength, terriffic balance, a strong and accurate arm, soft hands, and other things ARE.

October 23, 2007  04:57 PM ET

Eagle Hater, look at Steve Nash. He's the best player in the NBA and he is shorter than Peyton and Brady.

Actually I forgot one, hockey. Yeah hockey is it.

October 23, 2007  04:58 PM ET

George Muresan ever did anything in the NBA, ramdrum....?????Explain Muggsy Bogues.

October 23, 2007  04:59 PM ET

I meant never not ever.

October 23, 2007  05:00 PM ET

I've played Baseball, football, basketball, and golf competitively. As far as "skill" goes, football probably ranks last. Yes, you have to be athletic, and depending on position you have to be big and strong, but there are only a handful of positions that require a lot of "skill".

Have you ever had a 90MPH fastball wizz by your nose? I'd rather take a bone-crushing hit from Roy Williams any day. Did you ever notice that a lot of guys who failed in Baseball went on to excel in other sports? Danny Ainge and John Elway, for example. Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson were decent in baseball but were great in football.

The longest yard in sports isn't 4th and goal from the 1, it's a 3 foot putt to win a tournament. You have to be more athletic to excel at basketball than you do football, no question about it.

You've never played football if you'd rather be hit by Roy Williams than swing at a fastball.

And just because you aren't amazing in one doesn't mean the other is easier. Deion was a great football player because he had speed and instincts, not because he was an OK ball player.

Also, I wouldn't exactly say Elway "failed" at baseball. He was drafted in high school, but opted instead to play college football, and go to the NFL. He never tried pro baseball. He didn't fail.
