VT will beat BC tomorrow night

The game should be close and hard-hitting but when the dust settles VT will win
1) It is in Blacksburg, at night on national television (where the fans are historically make a more hostile environment and make a difference.
2) Since the NCAA does not have injury reporting rules like the NFL.. the Eagles still have no idea which quarterback will play and thus have had to cut prep time in ?? because they have 2 different styles.
3) Even if Glennon plays instead of Taylor this isn???t the case of a no name backup who hasn???t taken snaps. They have basically split time. In fact Glennon has a higher completion % (63%) and only 70 less yds despits 70 less attempts. After all he was a starter last year.
4) The Hokies defense is #1 nation over past two years and their special teams units cause havoc which is often a deciding factor in close games. VT even after playing LSU has the #11 total defense while BC is #29. And 8th compared to 18 in scoring defense
5) On Thursday night ESPN games the Hokes are 13-2 and 8-1 at home.

I think BC is going to win this one. Matt Ryan is one of the best qbs in the nation, and Jeff Jagodzinski is a quality coach. The BC offense has been very potent this year.

There's a reason Va Tech benched Sean Glennon, he was inconsistent. Va Tech's offense is incredibly predictable. Va Tech's defense is good, but I'm not sure how long they can hold up against a pretty good BC offense. Especially with the Hokies own offensive issues.

Yes Ryan is solid but they havent played anyone that is quality and no one even close to as dominating as VT in blacksburg.

Plus BC only put up 27 on Notre dame which is less than Michigan, Purdue, Mich ST, Penn St, and GT. The 13 pt margin was smallest margin of victory against ND this year (except their 1 win of course). So there are definite signs that Ryan is human

BC is ranked number one in the country in run defense allowing just 46.4 yards per game. Virginia Tech's offense is ranked 112th out of 119 teams in total yards per game on offense. BC's offense is getting about 140 more yards per game. Va Tech's second leading rusher is there Tyrod Taylor. There leading rusher Branden Ore only has 370 yards rushing on the season.

Va Tech's defense is good, but how long can they Hokies D keep them in the game with there stumbling offense?

Army, UMass, Boiling Green, Notre Dame that is BC's last 4 opponents. Despite that awful group of opponents Ryan is 35th in the naton in QB efficiency. VT defense runs circles around these teams. BC beat Umass by 10pts only scoring 24pts. Then ND by 13 that is 2 of last 3 games. So let us not crown BC and Ryan just yet.

As for the VT offense ... I see you failed to note that the BC pass defense is 105th in the nation. Also VT is 55th in scoring, just 1 spot behind UCLA, and the difference is VT???s defense and special teams means they don???t need yards (which is what the 112th ranking based on) or that many points to win. VT in last two games has scored 40+ at Clemson who was ranked 22 at time and at Duke. Which is better than BC???s performance against UMASS and Notre Dame.

Finally 2 words ??? at Blacksburg

Virginia Tech's 40 point performances are impressive, but let's look at who they were against. Clemson, really not that good of a team, a bit overrated. Duke, this isnt' basketball. Va Tech is without a key cog of their defense, leading tackler Vince Hall won't be playing in this football game.

Let's not forget that, granted it was a much different Va Tech team, but they struggled at home against a not so good East Carolina team.

Actually they put 40 on the board two weeks ago in death valley against then #22 clemson. They went with Taylor bc of his mobility. Seems to be something they really like in their Qbs up at blacksburg. But will save for argument. Now Im headed out to catch the end of the WS game 1

Yeah, it being in B-burg is the kicker.. I have to go with Va T as much as I don't want to..

Va Tech hype is a Joke Boston Collage should win this by 17-20 or more. Va Tech does not have the secondary to stay with Matt Ryan who could be an NFL QB today. BC thrives on the big stage and they are looking forward to both the Blacksburg stage and the ESPN coverage. They love hostile or neutral environments - that is why they have not lost a bowl game in 8 years. The defense could care less which QB is starting - BC can stop the run; has great pass rushers and contain guys on the corners, and a linebacking group of hard hitting pro-like tacklers. Their scondary is fast with good hands and should be able to pick 2-3 tonight. Against Notre Dame BC played its worst offensive and defensive game of the season and came away with an easy win nonetheless.

BC is 8th in the country in passing offense and 16th in total offense - Va Tech is not even in the top 50

On defense - Va Tech has a slight advantage in total defense ( 302 -323 yards) but cannot hang with the BC powerful offense - especially its passing attack, and it has shown it cannot hang with a strong offense (LSU put up 48)

Someone mentioned LSU -- Va Tech lost 48-7 showing it cannot compete with a national power - and that is what BC is right now

No - this has a BC win written all over it --- and Va Tech's choice of QB likely will not matter as they will probably have to play both when BC starts knocking them down all night and a QB switch at halftime is probable if Va Tech is down by 17 - 20 points as I expect

Screaming Eagles all the way -- and maybe garnering more BCS #1 votes after tonight. Matt Ryan takes another step closer to the Heisman.

BC hasn't played anybody and hasn't beat those nobodies very convincingly...Notre Dame by 13, UMass by 10. Their only blowout win was over Bowling Green who was blown out even worse by Miami OH. I don't think that VT is a top tier team, but I don't even know how many teams in the top 25 BC is capable of beating....I like VT by 20+

BC's offense is too good. Vote to badgerfan

It is raining here in Blacksburg, so that will put a damper on BC's passing attack, but it should be a really good game, but I think that with it being at home and on a Thursday night Tech has the advantage.

Report Offensive Comment

I'm pulling for Va Tech. 20-17

Report Offensive Comment

I like VT as well, though BC is TOUGH and they are the ONLY Team to beat VT on a Thursday....and they have done it twice. VT's defense and special teams will be the difference here.

BC=OVERRATED !!!!!!!!!!!!

When 3rd Qtr Va Tech they reach, still standing, they will not. Yoda

BC thrives on big stage -- what stage they haven't been there since Doug Flutie.

Report Offensive Comment

u are right Larry B

Report Offensive Comment

Larry B -- that big stage comment was obviously directed to you.

Also you say they invite the road/neutral sites. Last year's bowl win for BC was by 1pt against NAVY. BC also lost at Wake, at NCstate, at Miami and only won at Central Mich by 7. So dont act like BC has been a road dominating team.

As for this year ...BC has only 2 road games GT and Notre Dame where scored 24 and 27 respectively. Neither is close to VT defense or a VT crowd (ND was last week and their fans are not excited for obvious reasons this year)

This year you are at Blacksburg

Report Offensive Comment

It all comes down to how much beamer ball happens. Punt returns, kick returns, blocked punts, something on special teams. If this happens VT runs away with it. If BC can keep the special teams fundamentally sound, BC wins.

Report Offensive Comment

VT's offense just straight up sucks.

Brandon Ore is a failure, their offensive line are worse than rotating doors, and it doesn't matter who they put in at QB - Glennon or Taylor - they both suck.

Report Offensive Comment

Tomorrow night it is not, tonight it is

Report Offensive Comment

Sooner in WA Blacksburg is just another field for BC They have only won 2 road games - then they must have only palyed 2 road games --- Va Tech should not be in the top 25

Report Offensive Comment

And Sooner - the crowd at Blacksburg isn't playing tonight

Report Offensive Comment

Larry B if you don't think crowds influence games then teams would win on the road as much as home. Go play with your starwars figures

Report Offensive Comment

Crowd noise is actually overrated IMO.
