Okay, here are the rules. All players must be in the age range of 26-31 as of now. Just pick five guys, 1 at each position.

Stats are from of 82games. Clutch is defined as 4th quarter or OT, less than 2 min. left, and the game within 5 pts either way.

PG-Chauncey Billups (age: 31)-This guy has led the NBA with his assists-per-turnover ratio the last two years. He's called Mr. Big Shot for a reason. He averages 35 points and 11 assists every 48 "clutch" minutes.

SG-Kobe Bryant (29)-Arguably the greatest player (skill-wise) in the game today. He averages 47.4 points every 48 clutch minutes and 82% in those situations. Last year, he averaged 32 points a game.

SF-Paul Pierce (30)-Not many people realize that he averaged 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists last year. He also averages 41 points every 48 clutch minutes. Also, he will flourish this year having good players around him.

PF-Kevin Garnett (31)-He's grabbed over 900 rebounds in each of the last 8 seasons. Last year he averaged 4 assists a game WITH THE T-WOLVES!

C-Tim Duncan (31)-Some consider TD to be the greatest to ever play the PF. He does play the 5 sometimes though. He averages a double-double (20, 11).

PG - Chauncey Billups (31) - A proven veteran that is one of the most clutch PG in the league. His championship experience is what sets him apart from other PGs.

SG - Kobe Bryant (29) - Even with his horrible attitude, he is the best BASKETBALL

SF - Ron Artest (27)

PF - Kevin Garnett (31)

C - Tim Duncan (31)

So pretty much this is a Paul Pierce vs. Ron Artest debate. Here goes...

We'll start with the basics:

Paul Pierce, along with the averages mentioned above, had a 44% FG percentage and an 80% FT percentage.

Ron Artest, last year, averaged 19 points (less than Pierce), 7 rebounds (1 more), and 3 assists (less). It's obvious that Pierce has the edge so far.

Paul Pierce Stats:
DrawF% (how well they draw fouls)- 14.1
Passing Rating- 5.5
Player Rating (how well they rebound)- 16.7
Block Rating- 1.1
'Hands' Rating (how well they handle the ball)- 13.8

Ron Artest Stats:
DrawF%- 15.2
Passing Rating- 4.7
Player Rating- 18.4
Block Rating- 1.9
'Hands' Rating- 12.5

All of the categories are pretty close (within 2 or 3 points). But are they clutch in those categories? (All of these are clutch as defined by 82games.com)

Pierce Clutch Stats:
Scoring per 48 min.- 40.6
DrawF- 15.7
Passing- 4.9
Player- 15.3
Block- 2.2
'Hands'- 11.5

Artest Clutch Stats:
Scoring per 48 min.- 26.5
DrawF- 18.8
Passing- 2.5
Player- 16.3
Block- 5.4
'Hands'- 6.2

Just compare each and you'll see that Pierce has at least a decent advantage over Artest. More to come.

TYPO: In the second paragraph, it should read, "Clutch is defined as 4th quarter or OT, less than FIVE min. left, and the game within 5 points either way." Sorry about that.

26 is "middle age" in the NBA? Cmon.

October 27, 2007  06:29 PM ET

PeavyFan, I think I know who you are thinking of.

Cowboys-Celtics-ChiSox, young in the NBA is 25 and under. Old is mid-30s. I just took all the ages in between.

AHHH!!!!!!! STUPID I MESSED UP

Why are players in their late 20's considered middle-aged? Last time I checked middle-aged was supposed to be people in their late 30's.

October 28, 2007  06:41 PM ET

Middle-aged in the NBA is completely different from real life. Besides, what do you call players that are young (25 or younger) and aren't old (mid- to late-30s)?

Sorry GOAT, but I just don't have time to do this, sorry. It's kinda a hard topic too.
