dont ruin the farm system again u just built it up. wait a year. god forbid we dont make the playoffs every year. its not worth the whole futere. just deal with an average 3b man for a year and go after him next offseason, or get lowell or someone

The Yankees should not trade Hughes or Melky. They do however need to do something over at third base now that Arod has gone the way of the dodo. Trade for him, yes, but don't give away the farm. He is the best free agent at that posistion, yes he gets a little hefty but then again so did the Babe (not that I am making comparisons) The Yankees need a 3rd baseman, he would fit into the team well, and if they don't trade away the farm why no go and trade for him?

make joba, huges, kennedy, melky, tabata untocuhable. maybe a few guys like karstens but nothing huge. i still say its a bad idea wed have to give up too much pitching
B0mb3rs (HoF) said 11/06, 04:56 PM
Says who? Are you involved with trade negotiations? I certainly ain't and neither is the media reporting these rumors. I swear these rumors are started by someone just to see if people would be ok with the trade. Listen Cashman showed what's up this season, no more going for the quick fix, he will make deals only if they make sense. Personally I think Betimit is going to be the 3rd baseman next season, but if Cashman could swing a deal for Cabrera why not? Obviously he is not going to give up Hughes or Joba, or any of the other pitching talent, he would have this season to make a true run at the series. He has shown that he is committed to the future, what more proof do we as fans need?

if he doesnt give up kennedy huges or joba its a no deal, cabrera is too good. so its not worth it

Funky trades are made alot. They should try and trade, but do it smartly.

Come on, we all know the yankees are going to give everything for one person (and hope and pray) that one person is the missing piece to the puzzle.

Report Offensive CommentFor what Jonesy, you to get a clue? I love how everyone has an opinion that is based off perception and not fact. Cashman could have panicked this season but didn't, they could have already panicked and called Arod back up, they didn't why? Cause there actually is a plan and he is sticking to it, which is why he hasn't been fired. I know everyone wants to believe this is the end of the Yanks for a while, but get serious.

Report Offensive CommentWho was available for the Yankees this year? They had an all-star at most every position... and at those few positions they didn't have an all-star, they didn't have a chance to upgrade.
If a young power hitting first baseman like Prince Fielder was available last season- the Yankees would have been all over him because it would have been an upgrade over what they had. But there was no Prince Fielder type player on the market lat year for them to get.
If the Yankees could have traded for a young stud pitcher like Scott Kazmir, they would have been all over it. But there was nothing like that available.
Don't believe the Yankees have finally realized the error of their ways- and that they are committed to building through the farm- just because they didn't make a trade one season. There was no one available worth trading for.

Report Offensive CommentThey'll have to give up Tabata, one of their big 3 young pitchers (Kennedy, Joba, Hughes), and probably will have to throw in another prospect.
