Okay first off, this is a half serious throwdown. I think all sport franchise's should make players tattoo the team logo on there body (somewhere visible) to stop these players from whining about wanting to be traded for more money. I think they make a ridiculous amount of money already, I mean come on, there are jobs out there where people should make their kind of money. I am talking about doctors, laywers, and miltary members. I am not saying military members should get 1,000,000 dollars or some insane amount like that. They need to be payed for there risks. (I dont want anyone answering this that is gonna argue about the military thing) Okay enough about that. I think that if franchise's did this they would only get player's that want to be there. Then if they want to get traded, they would have to get another tattoo with that team's logo and tattoo and "X" over the previous team. Also, if they go back to a previous team they should get a tattoo that say "I dont really know what I want". Like I said in the beginning this is half srious/half not. Just a fun throwdown.

Just like in the real world, a player has the right to pursue the biggest contract they can obtain. If you manage a solid, small business well and you are offered a multi million dollar salary by another corporation, you have every right to want to pursue that venture. Players in these sport leagues only get paid so much because demand is high for talent, but the supply of talent is low. Players should be allowed to pursue money, thus is capitalism in America.
jagerbomb said 05/15, 02:50 PM
I am not disputing the fact that they shouldn't have a choice of where they want to go, But if they are as good as people say they are then the first contact they take should be the highest one. Otherwise they will just wind up trying to trade to someone else. The whole thing about the throwdown is players bitching because someone make a million more than they do, and they want to get traded. I am not arguing about the money so much as I am about the loyalty. I think that if the tattoo thing happened people would think through their decisions before jumping the gun. I am arguing for the tattoo thing no about ???capitalism in America???
TheDeity said 05/15, 03:13 PM
Well you think players should be allowed to go wherever they want, but should be required to have a tattoo permanently on their body and an x through it if they change teams. Players have a right to seek fair market value, and don't give me anything about loyalty. If a team things your skills have diminished they will certainly ask you to take a paycut or even cut you from the roster. Eddie Gorge had given his heart and soul to the Tennessee Titans as a bruising inside runner, but he lost a step and was cut from his large contract. The relationship works both ways, players deserve to go after the fair value. Loyalty? That isn't in sports today.
jagerbomb said 05/15, 03:39 PM
If they aren't performing the way they should, then hell yeah they should take a pay cut or be cut from the roster. They know that they need to been in top physical condition. I know loyalty isn't in sports today, it's all about money!!! That's why I started this argument. I believe it should go both ways as well. If the team thinks they are great then why wouldn't they keep them? It's about 30% the franchise that trades them and about 70% the players just being money hungry ****. The whole thing about this argument is that most ( I wont say all, because that???s not fair) players don???t play for the love of the game, sure it starts off that way, but then it just turns into a money battle. That???s all I am saying, the tattoo would help ???put loyalty??? back into sports.
TheDeity said 05/15, 03:45 PM
An accountant may love to track and record numbers for one company, but he isn't going to take much heat for taking a job that offers him two times as much to do so. You can love to do any job while still wanting fair compensation. So it is fair for teams to get rid of you when you are not performing up to your contract, but it is unfair for a player to want fair compensation when they are overperforming their current contract? You only think organizations should be loyal to players that are great and willing to play for lower contracts, meanwhile you think that players should be loyal no matter the case? You are destroying capitalism in America then.

As long as this is fairly facetious: it's not all that expensive (if you're a millionaire) to remove/replace a tattoo... points to TheDeity

the idea of forcing a player to tatto his team name on a his body is pretty **** funny, because it is just a horrible idea. free agent signings and trades is what makes sports so interesting.

Okay i know the throwdowns over but I would like to clarify something nowhere in my argument do I say "You only think organizations should be loyal to players that are great and willing to play for lower contracts, meanwhile you think that players should be loyal no matter the case?" I said it should go both ways. I am done.

Your opening statement of you last argument reads, "If they aren't performing the way they should, then hell yeah they should take a pay cut or be cut from the roster."

I think we should leave the comments to the people voting and leave the agrument the way its is. We each did our part on the throwdown, I dont think we should continue it on the comments.

Well I have the right to clarify your attempt of "clarify"ing

Deity please sir.
Furthermore, you contradicted yourself in that response. You opened with teams should be able to cut players and later said loyalty should go both ways.

Okay here i will clarify for you once again...the loyalty among the players and the franchise should stay the same. Plus why are you getting all mad? I opened this whole throwdown with "Okay first off, this is a half serious throwdown." The serious part was loyalty and the money thing, the part that I was not serious about was the tattoo part. I am just saying that franchises need to find a way to keep players, teams, and themselves loyal. I didn't want to get in a **** contest with someone via the net. I know that's what these are for but geez... you should have took this throwdown lightly. It is not all serious.

I'm not yelling or screaming at you. I generally left the tattoo idea untouched since it obviously was a joke. However, you did contradict yourself in your closing argument, I was simply pointing that out.

Okay (not being a smart ****) thank you. I didnt realize that, thank you for pointing it out.

You know one good way to keep someone loyal is that if someone leaves a team for more money, and their loyalty is gone, you have to tie them to a pole, and bang them in the nutz with a spiked bat...that would keep someone loyal for a really long time...I know it did for me...
