Replay in Baseball is Good thing for Baseball?

Using replay for home runs, fair or foul balls or for fan interference is a good idea and Bud Selig should allow this to happen. Now I used to think that using replay in baseball would be bad and ruin the tradition. Now that they would just use it for home runs, fair or foul balls or for fan interference wouldn???t really ruin the tradition. It would still have the strike zone, the same call by the ump if a player is safe or out. This would really help baseball get the right calls in these situations and let some of the fans rest when they think there favorite player hit a home run or how it could have helped in the ALCS when Manny hit the ball that hit off the wall or platform out behind the wall and came back into play and was ruled that it was still in play. Problem would be solved and it would be a controversy. Or when Victor Martinez hit that long ball that was ruled foul but some people thought that it was a home run. These problems would be solved and not be controversies. This would work out very well for baseball. Having instant replay for home runs, fair or foul balls or for fan interference is a good idea for baseball and should be passed by Bud Selig.

NOOOO!!!! you obviously arent a baseball fan. this will ruin the game. the human element is the best part. this is americas pastime here!!! i used to be for it but i changed my mind. just punish the umps for blown calls dont add replay

Me not a baseball fan are you kidding. NOOOO this will not ruin the tradition of baseball. The umps will still have the right of calling the strike zone and having the same call for if a runner is safe or out or if a player made a diving catch or if he trapped it. The only thing that would be questionable for replay is home runs, fair/foul balls or for fan interference. This is not ruining the tradition of baseball. The owners voted 25 to 5 on this and are just waiting for Bud Selig to pass it. I think this is a good actually. I used to not think that it would be a bad idea and ruin the tradition but having it just be for home runs, fair/foul balls or for fan interference is good and this would not ruin the tradition of baseball. Selig should pass this.

i say dont add replay. make the umps better. in order to due this you will need to

1. give each ump a certain amout of "points" at seasons start
2. blown calls make you loose points, tought calls gain them
3. if you get to 0 points your done for the year
4. most points at seasons end umps the playoffs.

this is a much better solution

The thing is umps are humans and humans make mistakes. With thoughs tough calls comes the blown call part that would take your so called points away and then add them so then really the points would almost stay even. While just having instant replay for again just home runs, fair/foul balls or for fan interference. This would not ruin the tradition of baseball. It would actually be a good thing. Agree with the 25 owners in the league and pass this instant replay idea. It is a good idea and would not ruin the tradition of baseball.

my system would force the umps to be in better positions to make calls, thats the real problem there always in the wrong place. u can tell if a ball is fair or foul just check the chalk. instant replay is not needed to make the game better

You hit the nail on the head. Limited replay for the reasons you mentioned would not take the human element out of the game. Umps will still be able to extend the strike zone or call the occasional runner safe instead of out. The game is long enough and I don't think I would like it much if we had to stop it to police the strike zone.

Bad idea. Selig can't do this. His legacy is full of mistakes and this would be another one. I love baseball, so the length and the pace of the game do not bother me; however our society is one of instant gratification and instant results.....that is not baseball. They should do things to speed up the game not slow it down. I still think the officials blow calls in the NFL even with replay and I think it would happen in baseball as well.

Quite frankly, it may seem like a good idea, but it would ruin the idea of what the game....started out to be....arguing with the umpire is like a circus sideshow and taking that away would be like sanitizing something that is already...pure.

Basically, MLB needs to change the rules regarding failing.....drug tests for steroids and HGH...OR whatever is deemed "performance enhancing".

The penalties should be much steeper:
1) First Offense - Sit for TWO years. $500,00 FINE
2) 2nd Offense - Sit THREE years $1.5M FINE
3) 3rd Offecnse - BANNED FOR LIFE

That is what the commissioner should do...perhaps something more severe, that would incude team fines also.....

You'll never know how hard it was for a Sox fan to cast a vote for a Yankees fan..
sigh
what has my life become? :-)

it would not take out the arguing in basebal it would just have it take on balls that are fair or foul, if there is a home run, and if there is fan interference. umps would still call a strike zone, if a guy running to first is safe or out, and other bases. Lou could still come out and kick the dirt on the umps thow bases and stuff. arguing would not be out of the picture it would just help tell if is fair or foul, if there is a home run, and if there is fan interference.
