My choose has to be Carlos Boozer. This guy has been a beast in the last few years. So far this season, Boozer has at least 10 boards in every game this season and also has scored at least 23 points in all but one game this season. That is just outstanding! So far this season, he has.....

PPG RPG AST FG%
24.0 13.2 3.4 52.7

That is among the top big men in the league. Since his 2002-03 rookie year, Boozer has finished the season among the NBA's top ten performers in field goal percentage four times and has been among the top ten rebounders twice. That is called dominance. Even at 6"9, Boozer is most know for his strength, rebounding, and offensive mind set. Boozer was selected as a member of the 2004 USA Olympic men's basketball team. He was also named to the 2006-08 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team. He was a All-Star last year, leading the Jazz to the Conference Finals. I don't really think anybody is better down low below 6"10 than him. What do you think?

I was pretty upset to find that every single basketball site lists Chris Bosh at 6'10". Haha. He would have been a good pick. Without much to choose from I went with Amare Stoudemire. No one knew how healthy he would be at the start of last season but he sure showed everyone in a fantastic way. He averaged 20.4 points and 9.6 rebounds while helping the Suns all the way to the Western Conference Semifinals. He made the all-star team and scored 29 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the game.

Amare's Defensive and Offensive Rebounds- 565; 222
Boozer's Defensive and Offensive Rebounds- 632; 234

Amare's are a little lower but he played on a team that ran the floor and scored layups. So for him to have that many offensive rebounds is tremendous. For the defensive end, Marion and Kurt Thomas were both very good rebounders for the Suns last year. Who did Boozer have? Okur? He had to do it all himself which probably in the long run helped him grab more rebounds.

Amare's Blocks- 110
Boozer's Blocks- 21

What a stat that is! I mean, they are both the same height yet somehow Stoudemire managed to block 89 more shots?

The problem is........Amare Stoudemire already plays center!!! If you read the title, it says Top player under 6-10 who could play Center today. I am going to argue this anyway!

Amare plays on one of the best teams in the league. He has Steve Nash passing to him, no doubt the best and most clutch passer in the NBA. And just because Marion and Kurt Thomas are good rebounders, doesn't mean that Amare shouldn't at least try to get some rebounds.

Boozer puts the power in power forward. With his frame, he can be difficult to stop. Boozer also has a good touch around the basket. Amare has had injury troubles in the last couple of years and that is what is holding him back. In 2 games this year, he has had 15 PPG and 6 RPG. That is not what we are used to.

And again, the topic is Top player under 6-10 who could play Center today!!! Amare is a center.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3607

I interpreted the topic to mean the best big man under 6'10" which I thought meant that anyone could be chosen as long as the met the height requirement.

Boozer's team isn't half-bad either. Deron Williams is arguably a top three point guard in the League and is averaging 10 assists so far this season. The Jazz went farther in the playoffs last year than the Suns did.

Amare is quicker, faster, stronger, and can jump higher than Boozer. He's a better athlete all around. Stoudemire had one injury-plagued year. Last year, he played in all 82 games and started 78 of them! That is NOT an injury-riddled season by all means.

Listen to what you are saying, "in 2 games this year". IT WAS JUST TWO GAMES! He could go out and average 30 PPG and 20 RPG in the next two just as easily. In his first game he did have 23 points and 11 rebounds before the second game where he only played 24 minues.

Amare will bounce back this season and will have one similar if not better than last year. He's already recovering well from his minor injury he suffered in the second game. THAT is the reasoning as to why his stats don't look very good. Your basing your stats on him playing a game and a half?

Ok, last year, here are the stats.....

Stoudemire: 20.4 PPG 9.6 RPG .575 FG%
Boozer: 20.9 PPG 11.7 RPG .561 FG%

For me, I would like Amare on my team.

And don't forget, Amare plays for the Suns. He has Nash, Marion, Barbosa, and Bell on his team compared to D. Williams, Okur, and Kirilenko for Boozer. A better supporting cast.

I see Boozer being a better center than Stoudemire. Amare is kinda like a shorter and less stronger version of Howard, and that is why I don't see him being able to match up against Shaq , Duncan, and/or Howard.

Boozer: 266 lbs.
Stoudemire: 245 lbs.

For the last time, Amare is a C that is 6-10. Look........

You can't argue against ESPN. Wikipedia is different. The people make that up.

First I'll prove that Amare can be chosen here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amare_Stoudemire
That link takes you to a page where Amare is listed as a power forward/center

http://probasketball.about.com/od/nbaplayerprofiles/a/carlosboozer.htm
That link will take you to a page where it lists Boozer as a power forward/center

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amare_Stoudemire
This final link will take you to a page where Amare is listed at 2.08 meters. When you convert it to inches it comes out as 81.88. When you convert that it will come out as 6 feet and 9.88 inches which is shorter than 6'10". So, stop giving me this **** about my guy not being legit

My simple rebuttal for supporting cast is that the Jazz made it farther last year in the playoffs than the Suns did. How much worse can they be?

Amare may be shorter and weaker than Dwight but he is quicker and faster. He has the ability to pull his defender out to 15 feet and drive right by them. He finishes strong and sometimes draws a foul. Speaking of fouls...
Amare FT%- 83
Boozer- 79
You probably don't think that's much of a difference but if he continued like that from the line he would have a career high.

November 8, 2007  04:18 PM ET

Elton Brand is the first player that comes to mind. He has a 7-5 wingspan and is certainly strong enough to defend the players down low.

November 8, 2007  04:21 PM ET

This is so dumb. Both Bill Russell and Moses Malone were both under 6'10". Amare Stoudemire is 6'9".

November 8, 2007  04:38 PM ET

Noon, Russell and Malone couldnt play today cuz they are on the cusp of dirt naps and I dont know Amazing would make a successful center as he is a run the floor guy, not a post up Shaq guy.

November 9, 2007  01:22 PM ET

HOW did you mess this up, GOAT? Tsk, tsk...

What is funny, is the FIRST person I thought up when I saw this TD yesterday was Chris Bosh.

Anyway, Stoudemire is listed at 6'10" and a Center. Oops!!!

November 9, 2007  01:24 PM ET

I think goat misinterpreted this and the consequence is a vote to his opponent.

November 9, 2007  01:45 PM ET

Mac, I've seen Stoudemire listed at 6'9" before and when I saw the topic I thought it meant ANYONE "could" play center. It just so happens that Amare plays center. He "could" play center and he does play center. It's semantics really.

November 9, 2007  01:50 PM ET

Read the opening paragraph about Amare which clearly states he is a power forward/center.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amare_Stoudemire

November 9, 2007  01:52 PM ET

Now look at this page where it clearly states that Boozer is a power forward/center.

It has Amare listed as 6'9". How many guys grow AFTER they made it in the NBA? Besides, a lot of players are listed taller than they really are.

November 9, 2007  02:02 PM ET

Ya GOAT, but Boozer made the All-Star game as a PF while Amare made it in as a C.

November 9, 2007  02:06 PM ET

Last year when Amare and Kurt Thomas were in at the same time usually Kurt was put at the 5 and Amare was stuck at the 4.

November 9, 2007  02:09 PM ET

GOAT, that last link sent me to his draft bio. That was a few years ago that he was 6'9" and listed as a PF. As of RIGHT NOW on ESPN.com, he is listed at 6'10" and at Center. And what Wikipedia says should not be weighed along side what ESPN.com says. Wikipedia is edited by the casual fan, and ESPN.com is edited by professionals.

Anyway, this is really FUBAR now.

November 9, 2007  02:12 PM ET

Are you saying he grew WHILE he was in the NBA? When does that ever happen? Very rarely, anyways.

Any NBA fan knows that players are almost always listed taller than what they really are. I don't know why. Maybe they're trying to intimidate.

November 9, 2007  02:16 PM ET

In this case, it could have happened GOAT. He did come out of HIGH SCHOOL. He was 18 or 19 years old, and guys STILL grow at that age.

November 9, 2007  02:18 PM ET

But, it doesnt matter what happened in the past. Again, AS OF RIGHT NOW Amare Stoudemire is listed at 6'10" at the Center position on BOTH SI.com and ESPN.com.

And the topic CLEARLY states that you are supposed to pick a player that does NOT play Center right now in the NBA, and is UNDER 6'10".

Ok, I'm done. My head hurts from typing all this and listening to Megadeth at the same time.

November 9, 2007  02:32 PM ET

I PROVED IT!!!!!!

He is listed at 2.08 meters tall. When you convert it to inches it comes out to 81.88 which is 6 feet and 9.88 inches tall which is NOT 6'10". He is 0.12 inches shorter than the requirement.

There ya go, Mac.

November 9, 2007  02:39 PM ET

You are really reaching now, GOAT. Meters????????? And where did this come from? You are starting to annoy me now! AH!

November 9, 2007  02:40 PM ET

0.12 of a difference!!!!! WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>_>

November 9, 2007  02:44 PM ET

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amare_Stoudemire

That's where I got it from. It has him listed as 6'10" (2.08 m) but are obviously rounding up because when you do the conversion it comes out to 6 feet, 9.88 inches.

November 9, 2007  03:04 PM ET

It rounds up GOAT! LOL
