I think football, baseball is a true classis american sport, but there is still 182 games a season, while in football there is only 16, which makes every game more important

Basketball. It is definitely THE pastime of America. Invented here. Has it's Hall of Fame in Massachusetts. People in America miss work every year to watch March Madness. Everyone knows the dominance of THE ERA (MJ, Magic, Bird). You go around America and what is the sport that everyone is playing outside: basketball. Driveways, parks, schoolyards, gyms. They have outdoor basketball heavens (i.e. Rucker Park, Venice Beach). There is nothing better.

basketball is huge in college, but then you get to the professionals, and the fans arent into it as much as football, if you went to a basketball game, most of what you would hear is a couple boos and cheers, football every fan will be on their feet at some point, you do see basketball being played in the streets a lot, but there are also way more basketball courts in a town, for football, there might be 2 or 3 feilds, and basketball, there is usually a lot more courts, so you will see more people

Did you see Oracle Arena during the Dallas series? Those fans were crazy looking to be the "biggest upset in NBA playoff history." And there's a reason for having as many courts as they do. People love the game. Kids will play for their school teams in the winter. Some even play in rec leagues at the same time. Then in spring the will start playing AAU into the summer. During the summer they go to camps and might play for their school's summer league team. In the fall they start conditioning for basketball. It's year-round sport.

people love the game of football too, everyone gets together on sundays and watches the football game, nobody gets together to watch basketball games unless its the playoffs or end of the season fight for the playoffs. football is year round, almost every sport is year round, football has many types of it too, you see kids everywhere playing football, they play in gyms playing flag football in the winter, pklaying pickup games in their free time, and playing catch everywhere

MARCH MADNESS. Almost everybody gets together to watch that. Two years ago, JJ Redick and Duke, ranked no. 1 at the time, faced Texas, no. 2 at the time, squared off very early in the season. NO ONE missed that game.

I love Football season more than Baseball, but not by much. Baseball has been around FOREVER and ofr that reason alone it's Americas National Pastime.
