I already did this all-time. Now it's time for the top 30 active athlete kings of each major sports city. (1-10 first)

1. New York- gotta be DEREK JETER Mr. Yankee
2. Los Angeles- let's go with KOBE BRYANT until further notice.
3. Chicago- right now gotta be BRIAN URLACHER the SB MLB.
4. Houston- let's go with MING YAO for some Chinese flavor
5. Phoenix- lets give the nod to STEVIE NASH 2x MVP
6. Philadelphia- lets give it to BERNARD HOPKINS the peoples champ
7. Dallas- Romo's gaining, but its still DIRK NOWITZKI. the MVP by a nose.
8. Atlanta- with Vick outta the way it's JOHN SMOLTZ, Brave great
9. Detroit- up for grabs so its CHAUNCEY BILLUPS, the most recent champ MVP.
10. Boston- its a 2 man race but it's PAPI ORTIZ over the less accessible Tom.

Agree with your with these exceptions only

Dallas -- Romo is great but TO is the main media man for Dallas and the NFL

Atlanta - McNabb is still the big name

Boston - Josh Beckett replaced Papi this year - I live in Boston and Josh is the new King - Papi is ow the Prince

Ha! TO was almost run outta town last season and he's skating on thin ice. He's one weird-out away from getting a one way ticket to Atlanta. Nowitzki is so well received that most Dallasians would have protested a proposed trade for Kobe.
McNabb is slipping fast and in fact, in case you didn't notice (obviously you didn't notice or you wouldn't put him there) he was booed roundly in his last home game. Bernard has never been booed in a city that once booed Santa Claus. So that's quite a feat
I realize you are from Boston, but maybe you oughta get out of the house and mingle a little more. It's either Tom or Papi by a long shot. I know that even as a hater of Boston teams from across the continent

Starting from the last:

In Boston the nee pecking order is Beckett, Papplebon, Brady, and Papi. Actually Paplebon right now is the hottest hero on the street - byt given the WS Beckett gets the nod.

McNabb is still loved by Campbell Soup, his Mom, and Philly. (yes that was oops) They still embrace him. 4 out of 5 Philly fans did not know Hopkins.

Romo is going into rehab with Britney spears - TO still brings the popcorn.= and the main press. Romo is a fumbled snap away from obscurity and shame again --hardly a hero.

I did not like Urlacher - but CHicago is short on heros right now.

And Noon only arguments - no comments below. If I see a comment I will sit on this TD forever. And be nice -- no vulgarity or you will need to apologize

It pained me to name Kobe the rapist of Colorado bit the bizarre people of LA like him --- I dont get it

I didn't pick Romo. I picked Dirk, can't you read?
Dirk is more popular than TO in that city.
4 out of 5 fans can't name Hopkins??? What are you crazy? He is loved in the brotherly city. They even had a parade for him when he beat Trinidad and unified the title.

I don't beleive what you're telling me about Boston for a second. Papelbon and Beckett are newcomers that could get traded any season. Papi and Tom are legends that will last forever. Neither will get traded or ever leave Boston sports lore. They already are up there with all-timers Bird, Williams, Russell. You have no argument there.

4 out of 5 people do not follow boxing so you are nuts --- and Hopkins spent as much time in jail as he did in Philly If you try to sell this obscure boxer that NOBODY knows outside of devout boxing fans ( a minority) you are just wrong. Football is king in Philly and McNabb, right now, is their hero and leader. You proved my point with Dirk He is an afterthought . It is TO-Romo. The only "experts" are the people who live in Boston - Philly -Dallas - they know better who is king in their town - those people voting on here with no first hand knowledge of those cities and their fan base have no business judging So let's hear it from the Dallas, Boston, and Philly fans.

And now for the real challenge. Noon, you have not gone down and started to make comments and you have not used vulgarity - good for you. As soon as I complete this final argument - don't be classless and do either of those And if you do, I hope everyone sees through it and takes a vote away.

And I would really like to take my Urlacher vote away -- the more I think of it the more I dislike the clown. I will go with Devin Hester - the burner--- And as I dislike rapists, Koke is out and Vladimir Guerrero in

Two Regulars. Two mortal enemies. One throwdown! Fight!!!

November 15, 2007  05:18 PM ET

McNabb? Atlanta? You mean Philly, right?

November 15, 2007  05:23 PM ET

I had the same question. Why is McNabb the name in Atlanta?

November 15, 2007  05:25 PM ET

He must have meant Philly. More proof that Boston fans are totally oblivious to any sports outside of New England

November 15, 2007  05:26 PM ET

i dont know about urlacher....
vote to midnight

November 15, 2007  05:37 PM ET

Why is McNabb and Atlanta put together?? You lost my vote for that. It matters if you make a mistake like that.

November 15, 2007  06:07 PM ET

Kobe KiNG of L.A.? No Brainer.

November 15, 2007  06:07 PM ET

Hey Ruby. Challenge me to one of these. I like these throwdowns. I agree with about all of those. Philly loves them some boxing. They hate McNabb and about every other successful sports star in their city. Ryan Howard and Rollins might be in the consideration though. Atlanta is tough, but Chipper Jones is a bigger star there than Smoltz IMO.

From my last argumant above - I knew you were classless:

"And now for the real challenge. Noon, you have not gone down and started to make comments and you have not used vulgarity - good for you. As soon as I complete this final argument - don't be classless and do either of those And if you do, I hope everyone sees through it and takes a vote away. "
