Bold Prediction: Ohio State will play in the National Championship game this season


I started one of these throw downs last week about Ohio States chances of being in the Title game as very possible.

I argued that Oregon would lose (albeit I said to UCLA) and they did.

I also argued that at least 2 of the 3 Big 12 Teams would lose (Kansas vs Missouri, winner of that vs Oklahoma in Big 12 Title game)

Well that would put Ohio State up to at least #4 in the BCS Rankings even though that won't show until those games happen.

That means out of the 3 remaining teams ahead of Ohio State (Big 12 Champion, West Virginia, and LSU) if two lose Ohio State will be in the title game.

Is anyone really confident that West Virginia can win three straight games starting Saturday night @ a ranked Cincinnati?

Does anyone really trust Les Miles coaching enough to think that LSU could win the SEC Championship game?

I say no to both of those.

I say Ohio State beats Michigan in Ann Arbor this weekend, and that the National Championship game will be between the Big 12 Champion and Ohio State


I am a huge Ohio State Fan. Yet I see WV sneaking up from the rear and no one is really paying attention to them I think it may go down just like last year. The Gators came in as underdogs and look what they did. I hope Ohio State Wins but Im telling you WV looks tough.


I dont like West Virginia at all in this upcoming matchup. They do boast the #3 rushing attack in the country but they have played only one team who is ranked in the top 50 in rush defense. Cincinnati ranks #13 in rush defense, so there is no way they get even close to the 290 yards they average a game.

Also I am only impressed with one win that West Virginia has. Their demolishment of Rutgers.

And with West Virginia coming off a 38-31 win at home against Louisville I really don't like their chances against a better overall team in Cincinnati especially with it being at Cincinnati.

West Virginia will lose and again I would bet LSU loses


Sorry it took so long to reply. I got caught up in holiday stuff. With WVU winning and being in the place they are they very well may be in the championship game. Rumors are and this may also come realisticly, it may be Ohio st. vs. WVU. LSU has become dissapointing this season and all I can do is hope and pray that Ohio St. doesnt get rusty if they sit too long again.

actually, not a lot has to happen, cause alot already has. It is not ridiculous to say that LSU will lose, mainly because it seems as though they've had it coming all season and are truly lucky to have only one loss. Of course, I would rather be lucky than good. WVU will have a lot of trouble with Cincy, but if they win, I think they have a very good shot of making it. I would love to go to NO, but I'm sure the bucks would be more than happy to head off to the Rose Bowl for the first time since '97.

Michigan has a banged up Hart and Henne so dont count your blue chips just yet chuck!

The scenario isnt so improvable...the top 6 (now 5) have very tough games ahead (as do the bucks this sat)....anything can happen this year!

Ohio State should be ranked higher than West Virginia, they have yet to play a team currently ranked in the top 25. People think Ohio State has it easy take a look at WVU's schedule.

Ohio State's best victory is over Washington, and Washington is terrible.

If Kansas wins out, they will be undefeated, have a top #5 defense, and will have beaten two top 5 teams in a row. If LSU wins out, they will have won the SEC title game.

If Kansas loses, and Missou wins out, they're in. If Oklahoma wins out, they'd be in.

I think the Big XII champ is pretty much in right now, no matter what, and LSU would have to lose, along with several others for Ohio State to have a shot.

Unless this year is going to be a repeat of 2001, where a 2 loss team somehow magically gets to the NC game, you can count the Bucks out.

Never mind trying to play guru. There are a lot of teams that could end up in the National title game. No one is safe at this point and every team still has something to prove. Not even LSU is safe. Ohio St. could make it to the title game, but its an over-statement to say that they will make it to the title game. And yes, WV looks pretty good but like I said, nobody is safe. Sorry NCAA Fanatic 9 but because u ignited the throwdown the vote goes to the other guy... wow NCAA Fanatic 9 maybe I should of voted for u just to help u better that pathetic record of urs.

I don't understand why ppl can't see that this is not a ridiculous statement. If OSU gets by scUM, which is a monster task in-of-itself, they actually put themselves in good position. They will not have to worry about any more upsets and can watch the rest of country play out the season. this year, 10 top-5 teams have lost to unranked opponents, that is the most since the AP poll only had 10 teams in it, so there really weren't as many upsets. I could easily see WV losing to Cincy and LSU losing to probably UGA in the SEC Championship, or even being caught looking ahead this weekend against Ole Miss. This is Ole Miss's bowl game of sorts, so they will be putting it all on the field. If those two teams lose, OSU is in the championship game. Asking 2 teams to lose isn't a whole lot.
