As of right now, the most important game remaining in the season is the Packers against the Cowboys

The Packers Cowboys showdown on Thursday night in Week 13 is the most important game that is left in the regular. It is basically the NFC version of the Colts Pats game that happened two weeks ago. The winner of this game has a virtual two game lead and a strangehold for the top seed in the NFC.

even a packer backer has to disagree on this one. I have to say that every pats game from here on out is the most important. i think that the colts v chargers game is an example of how anything can happpen to a team power. I think the pats are looking to run the table and under belicheck theyre not going to wuss out and play backups. (even if they do, they still have a good shot at winning)
The cowboy packer game will only be a preview of the playoff game, thats the only one that matters. who cares who wins the regular season game??? theyre both winning their division and id be surprised if they didnt meet in the playoffs so this game is just a preview

I have to disagree that every Patriot game is important. First of all, if they do manage to lose then every game, probably even the Steeler game, is unimportant because they already have a commanding lead for homefield. Also how can anyone consider the Patriots Jets game in December important. The winner of the the Packer Cowboy game has a two game lead toward getting home field advantage, and that of course means if they meet again in the postseason, the winner of their game hosts the NFC Championship Game. I believe that Dallas has more talent, so it would be very difficult for the Pack to go on the road and beat a better team if Dallas were to host the game. If the Packers win however, that means that Romo, T.O., and that high flying O would have to play in the frozen tundra of Lambau Field against a QB that knows how to win in freezing conditons, which would make the Packers pretty big favorites in that scenerio. The winner of this game has the inside track to going to the Super Bowl

Good point, but you dont get what i mean. the patriots have a great chance of winning every game this season. that's important because that would be history. if you said bigges nfc game id agree but everyone knows that the super bowl champ is coming out of the afc.

Well it does of course "look like" the winner is coming out of the AFC, but I could have said the same thing in 2001 when, although not as powerful, an amazing 14-2 Rams team looked like it would plow through everyone right to a Super Bowl ring, but a huge underdog Patriot squad played the game of their lives, and squeaked by the Rams 20-17. It really isn't NFL history unless the Pats go 19-0. If they went 16-0 and lost they would only be remembered for their loss in the playoffs, so all those games you claim are important then would not matter AT ALL. I of course know that anything can happen in football, but it appears pretty obvious that the two best teams in the NFC are the Cowboys and the Packers. Who ever wins this game, barring any serious injuries, is going to be hosting the NFC Championship Game, and whoever hosts has a serious homefield advantage, more so than usual as I stated in my argument above. Also this was an argument about the most important GAME, not games, so I do not think one game the Pats play is as important as the Cowboys Packers duel that will occur in Week 13.

THATS WHAT IM Fu.CKIg SAYING!!! i meant every game as in ALL OF THE REST OF THEIR GAMES!!! that includes playoff games you ****! of course its history if they win it all, thats what my arguement is based on! Thats why its important...you cant infer that i meant they'd run the table from my last arguement??? Holy moley man...

who gives a crap about the patriots games? we all know they will win the afc

pack vs cowboys determines #1 seed pretty much, with vast differences in home field

November 16, 2007  10:36 PM ET

It is the most important game because it will probably decide who will have homefield advantage in the NFC playoffs. We all know that the Pats will have homefield and if they are 15-0 in week 17 then that game would become the most important but that game isn't a sure thing until the Pats make it to 15-0.

November 16, 2007  10:49 PM ET

every game is important..
for the teams that are on the "bubble", they need to win out to make the playoffs.
i would say the rest of their games are important too..

November 16, 2007  10:50 PM ET

I was gonna say Pats-Steelers, because all the Steelers really have to prove is that they can hang with the Patties.

November 16, 2007  10:55 PM ET

I agree that the Packers-Cowboys game is important, but the rest of the Pats games are because they could finish 16-0 and unbeaten.

November 16, 2007  10:56 PM ET

the two games they have left with the lions will be the most important....duh!!!

November 16, 2007  10:58 PM ET

Dallas pack game means nothing...the packers have to beat out Detroit for the division before you EVEN think about home field advantage in the NFC!!

November 16, 2007  11:01 PM ET

. . .yeah, because the Lions are two games back already.

November 16, 2007  11:03 PM ET

wow 2 games is nothing with a 7 game season left...2 of which the pack have to play the lions...haha lions win both those...looks like the division is tied and the lions have the advantage to take it...now that makes the PACK looking at a possible wild card!

November 16, 2007  11:08 PM ET

dumb not to think divisional games mean more than non divisional....

November 16, 2007  11:22 PM ET

I didn't.

But I'll LOL@you when the Lions lose both games by at least 20 points.

November 17, 2007  04:24 AM ET

Its more impt than every Pats game because it will likely determine homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. A record is great but has little impact on the actual season

November 17, 2007  08:13 AM ET

Dallas Packers game is more important... the lions games arent near as important as the Packers.. No way the Lions win out so even if they sweep the packers more than likely the packers still have the better record..

Steveo is a homer moron if he thinks Detroit (now 3 games out) will win the division or sweep the Packers. They will need extraordinary luck to even win on T-Day although they always seem to get up for that game.

Packers-Cowboys has the most direct influence on the post-season picture in the NFC, therefore is the most important game when taken in scope of the remaining season.
