Lebron James

He is playing at a completely different level from guys like Bryant, Wade or Melo. He single handedly led the cavs to the NBA finals he nstill was the best player out on the court. And the most amazing thing is he si only 22 years old. When you look at his highlights all you can do is be amazed by his talent, speed and athleticism.

You said "right now" in your title yet one of your main points was that he single handedly led the Cavs to the Finals. That's last year.

Anyways, RIGHT NOW the best player in the NBA is Kevin Garnett. It's no coincidence the Celtics are 8-0 right now either. He's only averaging 7 points less per game playing on a team where they have three big scorers. However, KG is averaging 6 more rebounds per game and is shooting 57% from the field compared to LeBron's 47.

See, in my opinion, LBJ's stats are going to be better than a lot of other guys because of his teammates. He HAS to score. He HAS to rebound. He HAS to handle the ball. The difference with KG is that he plays on a team with other good players and is still able to be a force out on the court. By the way, here's an interesting statistic I found:

KG's Free Throw%- 83
LeBron's FT%- 67

That is a very bad percentage from the charity stripe for LeBron. Now, Garnett is a big guy and James is a small forward. I realize that BUT Garnett is averaging 3 steals per game compared to LeBron's 2. That's a big man doing that!

KG is first on NBA.com's Race to the MVP while LBJ sits at 11TH! To me, KG is the #1 player right now

Right now doesnt necessarly mean that it has to be this season it more means that in the last few seasons or so. James maynot be playing as well as KG right now but let's face it LeBron plays in a team where over half the players come from europe. KG has much more adavantages in his current position at Boston he has one of the greatest three point shooters ever, he has an amazing forward in pierce and they have a fantastic chemistry between the three. LeBron is all alone where his teammates give the ball to the opposition instead of him. And because he is undoubtedly the best player on the team and everyone will double cover him and he still makes plays on those teams. The fact is that because of the advantages KG has Boston are 8-0 and because of the tougher conditions Bron has they have a weak record.

What do you mean right now doesn't mean this season? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Right now is right now. Now, you said James isn't playing as well as Garnett is. Isn't that the whole point of this throwdown? You basically just said I was right.

Let's see, if you're a good player on a average team you'll have really good stats, right? If you're a good player on a good team your stats will be somewhat lower, correct? Well, KG was the latter if you couldn't tell. Just think if he was playing like this in Minnesota. His averages would be sky high.

And what's wrong with European players? You make it sound like they suck. Dirk Nowitzki, a European player himself, won the MVP trophy last year. AK47 is a very good player as well. Pau Gasol is from Spain and is a top big man in the League. Tony Parker is quite good as well and he's from overseas.

Now, you said OVER HALF the players are from Europe. I checked and they have TWO. Zyrdunas and Pavlovic are the only ones. Zydrunas is averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds. How terrible can he be? Gooden and Gibson aren't bad either.

Finally, you said his teammates give the ball to the other team. LBJ leads his team in TOs!

European players called pavlovic suck and varejao isnt exactly the greatest and to see who's really better you have to measure facts like how much experience they have the surroundings and then you can really see who's better. Well firstly KG is much more mature in terms of the game and LeBron is only 22 and 4 years pro. KG is surrounded by a team of superstars in an easy division and LeBron is surrounded by less talented players in probably one of the hardest divisions in the NBA .

Varejao hasn't played a game this year so that doesn't really count. Pavlovic isn't very good but he's one of your two European players and he's the only one that isn't good.

You said that Garnett is much more mature than LeBron right now. Who are you arguing for? You helped me out on that one. I'm not really going to compare divisions as much as I will their schedules so far. Boston has played SIX playoff teams from last year so far. (Indiana and Atlanta are the only ones that didn't.) They are 8-0. Cleveland has played seven playoff team yet have played 2 more games than the Celtics have. Of those seven, six are good right now. Against those teams, they are 1-4. Not very good.

Now, before the season everyone was saying that Pierce and Allen were both past their primes. Now, you're calling them superstars? Besides, there are 3 good players. The rest are average at best.

Back to division strength: the division the Cavs play in could maybe be considered the toughest in the EAST but in the entire league they are 3rd or 4th behind the divisions from the West.

Finally, when KG is on the floor his team scores 24 more points per 100 possessions than they do with him off it.

GOAT just made one heck of an arguement. Good job. vote to GOAT.

November 17, 2007  09:47 AM ET

Yeah, everyone is saying Lebron, but it is RIGHT NOW and GOAT made a great argument on why it is KG and thats why i voted for GOAT

November 17, 2007  09:58 AM ET

Vote to G.O.A.T.

Kevin Garnett knows he has his chance at the ring and greatness, and he is playing like it.

You're counting the last 7 seasons as RIGHT NOW? That's ridiculous. I would have picked Shaq if I had known that. When I think of right now, I think of this season as I'm sure many others do.

Oh yeah, last year KG averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 4 assists. He was pretty good back then, too.

November 17, 2007  01:12 PM ET

I was originally thinking Kobe, but I gotta go with goat on KG. I like that pick. Lebron is a good help defender but KG can D up on most big men in this league, he's the league's hardest worker, and a very good go to guy late in ball games. Lebron did well against the worn out Pistons, but when he got to the finals he didn't do jack.

November 17, 2007  01:12 PM ET

vote to goat.

November 17, 2007  01:20 PM ET

Tim Duncan, all the time! holla!

November 17, 2007  04:53 PM ET

Anybody that thinks KG is the best in the game is an idiot. There are at least 10 nplayers better than him. LeBron is the best right now.

November 17, 2007  05:08 PM ET

Kevin is the best all around player in the NBA. Noon is misinformed - as usual.

November 17, 2007  07:08 PM ET

Here are 10 better players...
LeBron, Kobe, Yao, Duncan, Wade, Nash, Stoudemire, McGrady, Nowitzki, Anthony...
Here are 10 more...
Iverson, Kidd, Paul, Boozer, D. Howard, Bosh, Baron, Billups, Arenas, Redd...
Here's a 10 where he belongs...
Parker, Ginobili, Shaq, J. Howard, R. Lewis, J. O'Neal, D. Williams, Joe Johnson, Marion, Pierce...
Right now, Kevin Martin has a better PER than KG.
Maybe you should get out of this overrated players jock.

November 17, 2007  07:44 PM ET

Did you watch Wade's first game back? He completely sucked!

Stoudemire and McGrady are both battling injuries right now. I already proved that KG is better than LeBron in my arguments.

Iverson is on the decline and ain't doin' jack right now.

Kidd is past his prime. Arenas is sucking it up right now and doesn't deserve to be in the top 30.

Shaq WAS good 5 years ago. Joe Johnson? Uhh...no. Josh Howard or Juwan Howard? I assume you mean Josh but neither compare to KG right now. They are about 18 MILES apart.

Also, if you weren't a homer I think you would have put Paul and Williams together where they belong. Right now, neither has a clear-cut advantage over the other.

November 17, 2007  09:18 PM ET

KG is not even better than LeBron if LeBron was blindfolded. Anyone that doesn't know that, knows nothing about b-ball.

November 17, 2007  09:41 PM ET

I am almost 100% positive that if the two played one-on-one while LeBron was blindfolded KG would be the winner.

Anyone that doesn't know that, knows nothing about b-ball.
