Les should go to Michigan

No way should he stay at LSU

Les Miles is in his 3rd season as LSU HC and has boasted a 32-5 record.

He has coached them to a win in the 2005 Peach Bowl, a 2006 win over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, and this season is on the verge of a National Title appearance. Miles has done so much for the Tigers in such a short period of time.

Miles has done so much for the Tigers in such a short period of time.

Miles is a smart man, and he has to be thinking about the pressure of going to Michigan. Lloyd Carr is a great coach and has struggled the past few years in winning bowl games and defeating Ohio State. Miles is LOVED at LSU, is winning and can continue to win. Going to Michigan would be foolish. He'd have to start from scratch with that program seeing how guys like Henne and Hart are leaving and the pressure to win is immense. Why go to Michigan when you can stay at LSU and continue to do wonders for that program and your career? Stay at LSU, Les.

Miles is NOT Loved at LSU- he is just the Anti-Sabin right now.

Look at what is coming back to LSU next year

other than Ryan Perrilloux at QB- who has already been suspended once already- and has little to no confidence from the team

Miles has shown an inability to run or even commit to a run-limiting his best healthy offensive player

No Dorsey, No Hester, No Early Doucet, no Matt, Brandon LaFell is looking pro- and from some reports he is thinking gone already,

He has what Keiland Williams and Trindon Holliday?

Not a very good core to build around- plus he is losing 20 Sabin-Senoirs

Les Miles is looking for a HARD season next year- and that is if he can get anything out of Ryan

IF Les goes to Michigan he is not going to an empty store- plus he is a Michigan guy and can have a year to build - plus he wins vs Jim he is golden- even if he does not get to a Rose Bowl

LSU is a different story- beating ARK is not going to save your job.

LSU has been one of the top programs in recruiting for the past few years. Thats why they are so deep at so many positions. After the 2003 season, they lost guys like Josh Reed, Chad Lavalais, Devery Henderson and a few other key components to that NT winning team. In 2004, they went 9-3, and then from 2005 on Miles has gotten at least 11 wins. Losing all of those key guys you mentioned will hurt, but LSU is still going to be one of the best in recruiting. They wont plumet. It'll be tough, like any season as a HC in the SEC is.

At Michigan, there is a demand to win now, and he might not get off on the right foot there. Beating Ohio State and making a Rose Bowl is a tall order for a first year coach. It has taken Miles three seasons to be in line for a National Title, and before that he's been winning Peach and Sugar Bowls. He may be a Michigan guy, this might be his "Dream job" but he's the MAN in Baton Rouge and leaving after what he's done would not be smart.

Les has not recruited that strongly the last few years based on production- and you are still counting on either a true freshman or Ryan staying out of trouble next year- bad choices either way.

and it is NOT going to cost Michigan that much to get Les- 1.5 Mil to a school like Michigan is NOTHING- they could pass the hat at the first home game and get that in change!

Les Miles would go home to Michigan as a hero to that school and would stay a hero as long as he can beat Ohio State

Mich is going to lose some too- but Les is going to make more money- not have to compete with Texas, be in a BETTER position to win NC's

why stay at LSU with ALL those losses? Thoughts of Ryan at QB with nothing behind him?

Miles hasnt done well in recruting since being at LSU? Here are some of the players Miles has brought in through recruiting since 2005 keeping LSU in the Top 10 in best recruiting classes.

-Ryan Perilloux
-Ciron Black
-Trindon Holliday
-Darry Beckwith
-Brandon Lafell
-Jacob Cutrera
-Richard Dixon
-Danny McCray
-Richard Murphy
-Charles Scott
-Al Woods
-Keiland Williams
-Demetrius Byrd
-Chad Jones
-Terrance Toliver

Those are some of the players that Miles has brought in since 2005. There is a laundry list of other 3-4 star players he's gotten. In 2005, he got LSU to be the 5th best recruiting class in the nation. He's done a fantastic job in bringing in players to tool his program. Losing guys like you mentioned will hurt, but Miles has proven to be a great recruiter. LSU is the premiere program in Louisiana, and gets all the big names from the state, and even attract outsiders. Example: Matt Flynn came from Tyler, Texas.

Miles has his "Dream Job" right in Baton Rouge. Maybe win a National Title this year, and then re-tool to go at it in the years to come.

You can't pass up your dream job. You only live once. Win your title this year an than go live your dream.

Les Miles IS loved at LSU. He is a lot more accessible and likeable than Saban ever was. Students and fans LOVE him.

Miles would have plenty left to work with (Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, Trindon Holliday, Ricky Dixon, Terrance Tolliver, Demetrius Byrd -- defense will be hit harder than offense), but it won't be a repeat of this year.

I want him to stay, but like Bucky said "You can't pass up your dream job"
LSU had an idea that this day might come.

Vote goes to NC, but nothing Mac has argued is incorrect.

EVERY coach is loved- Les, Sabin all the way back to Hallman- wait until he goes 8-4 or 7-5 ( and with Ryan- he might ) then see how loved he is-

Think Sabin is a fan favorite now after going 0 and 2 in LA ( what a WIN! )

November 19, 2007  08:36 AM ET

That is the case in any program. But to say that he is NOT loved, or imply that he is loved only because he is the anti-Saban is not true.

Bumperstickers aside, I don't think anyone was truly 'Crazy Bout Curly'.

Go Warhawks!!

Think about the money Michigan is going to have to pay to get Miles to Michigan .... especially if he wins the NC, then he gets a raise from LSU .... which is required by his contract .... plus a buyout for leaving LSU to go to Michigan .... Now, is he worth it? let's think Auburn, Florida, and Kentucky game? Is he really worth it?

November 19, 2007  10:51 AM ET

Let me first start by saying that I am a Michigan fan. However, Les should not go to Michigan. He already is at a top program with a great recruiting base around him. The speed and talent he can bring to LSU will not go to Michigan.

Michigan is better served by getting Brian Kelly. The man worked at Grand Valley State (where he won Championships) and did great at Central Michigan, and has done well at Cincinnati.

He's my choice. Les can stay down South.

"Now, is he worth it? let's think Auburn, Florida, and Kentucky game? Is he really worth it?"

dlluah06

well yeah he is considering he beat auburn and florida, and barely lost to kentucky in overtime.

it is the university of michigan they have more money to throw around than anybody, if they dont end up getting miles it wouldnt because they didnt hav enough to pay him

WHAT????

LSU is a better team than Michigan. He is recruiting well and already has a team and coaching staff set up, whereas in Michigan he'd have to go through all the new coach pains again, and he'd have to deal with losing about a dozen marquee players (Hart, Long, Manningham, Crable, etc.) in his first year.

LSU gives him continuity and a chance to continue winning. Why leave?

November 19, 2007  11:18 PM ET

Of course he should go its his dream job. A michigan alumn who coached under Bo for the big maize. Plus LSU has shown no fight for their coach. Just shows that when the program begins to slip the school would have no problem turning on him.

November 20, 2007  10:18 AM ET

Brandon Lafell going to the pros????? Dude who is your source? This guy David is talking about something he obviously knows nothing about. Les Miles would be a fool to leave LSU. If he does leave, so be it. Can't really blame the guy. So bring on Steve Spurrier!!!!

November 20, 2007  02:14 PM ET

J. HOVA .... I was referring to the stupid decisions made throughout the games that made people say "They barely won those games." .... and also that they lost to Kentucky. LSU has enough talent that they could play with anybody. It's the sorry coach they have that keeps them from demolishing every team they play. So now .... Is he worth it?

November 20, 2007  02:16 PM ET

.... not to mention, on the money issue .... you have people at Michigan talking about beginning expansion on the stadium. That's some more money to spit out. If you have that much money to throw around, I would definitely try to get a coach who made better decisions than Les Miles.
