All time UCLA lineup vs any other team

Make a starting lineup for basketball that would challenge UCLA's. These arguments are based solely on what the player did in college- not the pros.

G- Gail Goodrich
G- Reggie Miller
F- Marques Johnson
F- Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)
C- Bill Walton

North Carolina

G- Michael Jordan
G- Vince Carter
F- James Worthy
F- Antwan Jamison
C- Sam Perkins
Coach- Dean Smith

Alright, I'll go with yours:

Coach- John Wooden- 10 National Championships in 12 years- Also, won 7 Straight

Gail Goodrich- Finished career as UCLA's all time leading score, as well as being a 2 time All-American as well as Co-Player of the year in 65. Goodrich and won 2 national championships.

Reggie Miller- Although he never played on a reat team, finished 2nd in career points behind only the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Marques Johnson- First ever John R. Wooden award winner, given to nation's best player and also recieved the USBWA College Player of the Year, becoming the first to do so.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar- A career 26.3 career average, one of the greatest to every play. Still holds the record for most field goals, points in a season, highest season scoring averages.

Bill Walton- Recieved the James E. Sullivan Award for best amateur athlete, USBWA College Player of the Year, and the Naismith College Player of the Year, get this, 3 years in a row.

Although North Carolina has great players, their all time lineup cannot match up to UCLA.

You have the advantage in the front court, I will admit. But really. Gail Goodrich vs. MJ?!?!? Mark that up as an advantage for me.

Reggie vs. Vince. A rather interesting match up. Reggie, while he scored more points, played 4 years vs Vince's 3. VC scored 1,267 points in 3 years in college, while Reggie had 1,183. VC averaged 15 ppg while sharing the court w/ Jamison and Brendan Haywood.

Obviously I'll give you MJ. That's 1-0 in favor of you.

Coach- It's John Wooden. 10 Championships in 12 years speaks for itself. 1-1

Reggie vs Vince: Interesting. I don't understand your argument though- you said Reggie score more but then put Vince down for more points.Anyway, Reggie, in his final two seasons, averaged over 22 points per game (over 25 junior year). This is debatable. Heck, I'll give this to you. However, still debatble. 2-1 you.

Johnson vs Worthy: Although Worthy had a decent career, he was no where neae Johnson. Johnson was awarded the National Player of the year (two seperate awards), easily taking Worthy. 2-2.

Jamison vs Abdul-Jabbar: Jamison was good, don't get me wrong. He was awarded with the Naismith award for most outstanding player in his junior year. However, Abdul-Jabbar led the UCLA Bruins in scoring 3 years in a row, and won a National Championship all 3 years. He was awarded with the USBWA Player of the year award twice, and the Naismith award once. Advantage: Me. 3-2.

Walton vs Perkins: Not even a contest. Walton won the USBWA Award and Naismith award 3 years in a row in 72, 73, and 74. 4-2 Me.

UNC is great, but UCLA takes it.

OK, what I was saying was that while Reggie scored more points, that is because he had 4 years to Vince's 3. VC scored more in those 3 years than Reggie did in his three.

Big Game James averaged 21 and 12. Johnson had 21 and 11. Only a one rebound advantage, but an advantage nonetheless. He was named MVP of the 1982 Final Four on a team with Jordan and Perkins. He was named the Helms Foundation National Player of the Year twice in '81 and '82. He was also named an All-American 11 times by different organizations.

You can't call that easy. Make that one a tie.

This is going to be fun.

i was gonna go with UNC.. DAMN

Report Offensive Comment

Since John Wooden would coach UCLA, I'd give them the edge.

esco is just soooooooo positively dapper

Report Offensive Comment

I like how they have 5 votes before the actual arguments are even posted...

Report Offensive Comment

If you're judging by what the players did in college, UCLA would destroy UNC. Even if people are judging by what they did at the professional level, can anybody see Worthy or Jamison stopping Kareem and Walton inside?

Thank you TradeAngelos.

Report Offensive Comment

UCLA definitely wins in the front court matchup but it's the backcourt that gives North Carolina an edge.

One to Wario.

Report Offensive Comment

I'm saving my vote until some more arguments come in. Good topic though.

Report Offensive Comment

Damn, I hit save too early, I wasn't done!

Report Offensive Comment

Even if it is a tie, I still have advantage. Good TD though.

Wario, man you should of left this one for a Tarheel fan!
You didn't even out the best UNC lineup on the floor!

PG Kenny SMith/Phil Ford
SG MJ/Vince Carter
SF James Worthy/Rasheed Wallace
PF Sam Perkins/Antawn Jamison
C Brad Daugherty/Sam Perkins

Other Bench: Bob Mcadoo, Walter Davis, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Jerry Stackhouse

If he is going to play Walton at center and Jabbar at PF, your front court beats his down the court every time. Your back court dominates as they are quicker and nore athletic, Jordon shuts Reggie down and you have a far better bench!

Report Offensive Comment

We don't have a bench. My inside will dominate. Simple as that. Please don't go off of your biased fan hood.

I am going to give my vote to Wallace here.

He has fabulous arguments.
