Plaxico Burress is having a better year than Chad Johnson

CJ: 59 catches, 938 yards (15.9 YPC), 3 TDs

PB: 45 catches, 635 yards (14.1 YPC), 8 TDs

Yes CJ leads him by 303 yards, but yards don't win you football games. A perfect example of this is the Broncos. 13th in Total Offensive Yards, but they've scored a total of 16 offensive TDs (LOL, Randy Moss has 16 TDs).

TDs win you games, and PB currently has 5 more of those than CJ does. He has a TD every 5.63 catches; CJ has one every 19.7.

To give this a better image, Plax with CJ's catches: 832 yards, 11 TDs.

What's even more amazing is that Plax is doing this on one ankle and isn't practicing all week.

And don't "Well TJ's stealing all his TDs. . ." me. Maybe if CJ could actually not only FIND his way into the endzone, but actually CATCH the ball in the endzone, Palmer would look his way more.

In fact even last year BOTH TJ AND Henry had more TD catches than CJ.

This is absurd.

Burress is averaging just over 60 yards per game, CJ is averaging 94. Yeah, Plax has more TD's, so what? The Steelers have ANOTHER great receiver who is getting those red-zone TD catches while Chad plays decoy. The Giants DON'T have another option, hence Burress is getting the bulk of the TDs.

Yes, yards DO win you football games. LT set the TD record last year, but don't you think the yards accumulated by Phillips-Gates had a tad to do with that?

The majority of your opening argument is defending why Burress ISN'T having a better season than CJ...

"Yes CJ leads him by 303 yards, but yards don't win you football games."

"TDs win you games, and PB currently has 5 more of those than CJ does."

"And don't "Well TJ's stealing all his TDs. . ." me."

Oh, and Burress hasn't had a TD catch in the last 4 games.

Yards DON'T win you games. Did you not READ my comment directed at the Broncos? 13th in yards but 21st in scoring. There's a reason they're 5-5 and not better, and it's not completely their defense.

What if I'm a receiver and I catch 7 balls for 189 yards but can't make that critical catch in the Endzone that would've won my team the game? Then those 7 catches and 189 yards were completely useless.

And the Giants don't have anyone else? Does the name JEREMY SHOCKEY ring a bell?

And this isn't about the "Red Zone". Burress has 5 TDs outside the RZ, an astounding 63%.

Oh, and Johnson hasn't had a TD catch in the last 8 games.

Sigh.

Leaders in yards per game:

1) New England - 10-0
2) Dallas - 9-1 (only loss to #1)
3) Indianapolis 8-2 (one of losses to #1)
4) Green Bay 9-1

So...the top 4 teams in the entire NFL in yards are a combined 36-4, 34-2 when not playing each other. They also happen to be the top 4 in almost every "power ranking". Nah, yards don't mean anything.

If the Broncos problem is their DEFENSE then what are you biotching about?

If you are a receiver who caught 7 balls for 189 yards you are ONE HELLUVA receiver who just had a GREAT night. Mike Irvin constantly jokes with Emmitt Smith that many of Smiths TD's came after a big catch by Michael that set him up. You know what? He's right.

Tony Romo has already thrown more TD's in 10 games than Hall of Famer Troy Aikman ever did in an entire season. Does that mean Romo is better than Troy? Of course not. It's a matter of how an offense is run. The Giants and Bungles run two entirely different offenses with entirely different objectives.

Oh, and lets not forget, CJ is a much better decoy than TJ.

Any way you slice it, Burress is NOT having a better season than Chad Johnson.

LOL

Leaders in PPG:

1) NEW ENGLAND 10-0
2) DALLAS 9-1
3) Cleveland 6-4 (12th in YPG)
4) INDIANAPOLIS 8-2
5) Pittsburgh 7-3 (10th in YPG)
6) GREEN BAY 9-1

Funny, the top 2 EXACTLY match and the rest are only one or two spots lower.

And dude, the Broncos defense isn't totally their problem. Maybe if they averaged more than 18.7 PPG they'd be better than 5-5.

Want further proof? With some numbers changed because I finally found this weeks stats (>_>), the Broncos are #11 in YPG and #21 in PPG. The CHARGERS are #21 in YPG and #10 in PPG. The Chargers are 5-5 as well. In fact, the Chargers decimated the Broncos the last time they played.

Seriously, yards mean nothing when you drive the field and have to settle for a Field Goal. It was a reach, but as I said, you're not going to win many games getting 600 yards and 17 points, especially against quick-scoring teams such as the Colts, Pats, and Cowboys. You only score 17 points and 25 NFL teams could beat you.

Plax IS having a better year because he has contributed more on the scoreboard than CJ has, and NO CJ is not a Red Zone decoy.

Wait. Why did you prove MY point for me?

YPG-Top 4 teams are 1-4

PPG Top 4 teams only finish in top 6
So the ONLY thing that matters with a wide receiver is how many TDs he catches?

That means:

Greg Jennings is having a better year than Reggie Wayne (snicker)
Chris Cooley and Ben Watson are better than Torry Holt (double snicker)
Larry Fitzgerald is only the 25th best receiver in the NFL. ROFLMAO

Burress scored THREE of his TD's in the first game of the season. So...he has 5 in the last 9 games. And this impresses you? Dude is injured and is HURTING his team by hobbling out there to play every week, at this point.

CJ isn't a good red zone decoy? What are you smoking? He draws TRIPLE teams in the red zone. He's a GREAT red zone decoy, and a decent blocker. Burress couldn't block his sister from the dinner table.

good luck

Back at ya, Bio

Im with 3C on this one...

Report Offensive Comment

He WAS having a good season until his ankle got severe.

Report Offensive Comment

What TD Hood?

Report Offensive Comment

Chad Johnson doesn't play on the steelers...
and yds don't win football games...just ask john Kitna when he threw for 377 yds in a loss to the giants...but this is a touch TD to choose on who is having a better season...

Report Offensive Comment

I dont even need to see stats to know that CJ golden gums are flappin ten times less than normal.

Report Offensive Comment

Well what can you say when A) you can't catch a TD pass and B) your team completely blows

Report Offensive Comment

C) you forget how to dance cuz you are so outta practice

D) you need to watch Dancing with the Stars to remember your glory days.

Report Offensive Comment

LOL right.

Wait, when did Chad Johnson get traded to the Steelers? Did I miss something?

But to get to the throwdown: yards get you INTO position for your TEAM to score touchdowns/field goals. So the him having more yards meaning nothing argument is practically null and void. Another fact is that Burress caught THREE of those 8 TDs against the Cowboys in WEEK ONE. So that means he has FIVE in 9 other games while Johnson still may have fewer TDs in 10 games it just shows that Burress accrued many of his TDs (almost half) in just one game. Also, Johnson is ABLE to stay healthy, practice with his team and quarterback while Buress sits upon the sidelines icing an ankle that has been hurting him for what seems like years.

"Wait, when did Chad Johnson get traded to the Steelers? Did I miss something?"

Lol, I was doing two TDs at the same time. Mistyped, of course.

Report Offensive Comment

Understandable, but NOT forgivable!!!

Report Offensive Comment

Of course it's not forgivable, Ben, I'm a Cowboys fan...lol

Nice game Sunday ;-)

Report Offensive Comment

Of course...

Also, you know damn well if Sean Taylor had played AT LEAST TWO of those long Owens TDs would NOT have happened. Two of them were all because the safety either a) couldn't cover, b) couldn't make the tackle, c) completely **** up the coverage, or d) just had NO idea what they were doing as they waved to Owens as he ran by.

But yeah, a good game. Also, you guys are going to get torched by Green Bay's passing game since we got 330+ yards through the air.

Report Offensive Comment

The Boys may get torched by the Pack, but the Skins would get obliterated by the Pack. Whats your point Ben?

Report Offensive Comment

"If you are a receiver who caught 7 balls for 189 yards you are ONE HELLUVA receiver who just had a GREAT night."

I dropped the GW TD catch that cost my team the game.

What if I did that every night? How can you say a receiver is good if they can't get in the endzone, the most sacred part of any football field?

Report Offensive Comment

The Redskins wouldn't get obliterated by the Packers. We lost by a FIELD GOAL, you dolt! We had them beat until Santana Moss fumbled a reverse (which shouldn't have been called to begin with, but that is another story) and Charles Woodson picked it up to race in for a TD to make it 14-17.

Know thy football before talking the smack.

My football knowledge consists of knowing Portis is a fantasy dud this year.

Injuries happen, ya know. It's football. Stop making excuses, Ben. ;-)

Dallas ran those plays precisely BECAUSE Taylor wasn't playing. If he HAD been playing, they'd have called something else. You can only play the competition on the field.

And if we are going to play the IF game...IF Terry Glenn were healthy, Dallas would have won by about 40 as that would have been TWO WR the 'Skins had no chance of covering. IF Anthony Henry had been healthy, you could subtract about 100 yards and 10 points from the 'Skins.

If ifs and butts were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas...

Torched by GB? Nah. Henry will be fully recovered by then. And the 'Skins have a MUCH better OLine than GB does. Favre can't throw from his back. The Pack have NOBODY to contain Demarcus Ware so they will have no choice but to double him all night. That leaves Ellis one on one...I'm sure he's salivating at the very thought...Dallas' LB's will knock the gray right outta Favres hair. The NFL is all about matchups and I was honestly more worried about the way the 'Skins matched up than the Packers.
