I keep seeing this nonsense about Favre not having anyone to throw the ball too, but he's still having a great year. Um, if he has nobody to throw it to, who is making all those catches?

Fact is, Dallas has been without their #2 receiver all season. Fact is, the guy filling in as the #2 had never started an NFL game prior to this season. Fact is, the Cowboys #3 and #4 receivers had combined to catch 3 passes in the NFL prior to this year.

FACT is the Cowboys receivers were FAR less experienced than the Packers coming into this year. Yet all I hear is Romo has more weapons...excuses from Favre fans, obviously.

Any way you slice it, Romo is having a better season than the old man, though I'll willingly admit Favre is having a GREAT season.

Correction

Romo DOES have better weapons, expirience isn't such a huge deal in the NFL so much anymore, Look at all the Rookie impacts at the WR position, James Jones, Sidney Rice, Dewayne Bowe, and so many more.

Brett Farve has two consitant threats in the passing game; Driver and Jennings, Romo has the array of: Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, and Jason Witte.

Not to mention the fact that Romo has a running game to lean on to if he struggles or to just keep his arm fresh, Marion Barber and Julius Jones can be quality starters on almost and NFL team, and the Packers trio of Deshawn Wynn, Brandon Jackson, and Ryan Grant have average 3.7 YPC COMBINED..

Crayton? Before this year he was the 3rd WR who came in on passing downs

Hurd? Before this season he had all of 5 career receptions. That's CAREER receptions. He's now the Cowboys #3.

For Green Bay, Jennings was a #2 LAST year just as he is THIS year and James Jones has been awesome as a rook. Favre has PLENTY of targets.

Who cares how crappy the Packers running game is? This is about QB's.

The title of the TD is: " Tony Romo is having a better year than Brett Favre"

There is zero doubt that is true.

A running Game affects everything for a QB, If you can't run defences can drop more people back in coverage without fear of you running over them, Farve has been throwing against tougher defenses all year because oposing teams have been able to drop multiple defenders deep and he still manages to beat them.

Farve has thrown 8 INTs to Romo's 12 so he's taking care of the ball much better than Romo, He has more passing yards, A higher completion percentage, a 2.1 % chance of throwing an INT which is 8th best in the league while Romo has a 3.7% chance which is the 6th worst in the NFL. Romo only has more TDs than Farve.

I'd personally think seeing as Farve outgains Romo in almost every passing Category with no Running game to help him, he's having a better year

You haven't watched the Cowboys much this year, have you? For the most part, their rushing yards have come in trash time in the 4th QTR. Dallas' biggest problem is not being able to run the ball.

Favre outgains Romo in almost every passing category? Are you brain dead?

OK, you want to get into stats? Let's go.

Attempts:

Favre - 384
Romo - 324

Completions:

Favre - 260
Romo - 212

Yards

Favre - 2975
Romo - 2848

YPA

Favre - 7.75
Romo - 8.79

Yard per completion

Favre - 11.44
Romo - 13.43

TD

Favre - 19
Romo - 27

TD%

Favre - 4.9
Romo - 8.3

Passer Rating

Favre - 98.6
Romo - 105.6

FACT is Romo DOMINATES Favre in almost every passing category. There is NO question that Romo is having a MUCH better season than the old man.

This is hard for me...defend Favre and bash the rest of the Packers, or defend the Packers as a team and concede that Romo (a Cowboy! Yuck!) is marginally better than the best QB ever. This is a conundrum.

November 21, 2007  01:28 AM ET

This is an interesting TD. I don't think I could honestly decide. There are many factors.

For Romo, I think it's been Witten that has kept that team going. I know he does not have the most TD's or recieving yards but he has been Romo's workhorse!

I love Jennings, Driver and of course Favre. I would have to say that Dave is getting it done with experience. Experience does matter.

If I really had to pick one of them, I might pick Favre because I did not expect a performance like this out of him based upon the last couple of years, specifically last year.

I think Romo is great and will only get better but I'm going to go with Favre. They do have less weapons. Just look at the running games between the two.

Favre it is...but really for my own reasons.

November 21, 2007  01:31 AM ET

CCC just confirmed my Favre vote because he said running game doesn't matter when discussing QBs.

November 21, 2007  01:35 AM ET

Man, I'm tired. I wrote Dave instead of Brett.

CCC: Every aspect of the offensive game matters for a QB. Imagine Romo having no running game. He'd be down and out....

November 21, 2007  01:39 AM ET

"CCC just confirmed my Favre vote"

I confirmed your Favre vote by being a Cowboys fan, don't lie. ;-)

November 21, 2007  01:41 AM ET

"CCC: Every aspect of the offensive game matters for a QB."

Yeah. So does a defense, turnovers, time of possession, offensive line, play calling etc. etc. etc.

THIS TD is about QB production.

November 21, 2007  01:42 AM ET

"because he said running game doesn't matter when discussing QBs."

That's NOT what I said.

November 21, 2007  01:42 AM ET

statistically romo is better...CCC rakes mine

November 21, 2007  01:52 AM ET

CCC: This is what you said, "Who cares how crappy the Packers running game is? This is about QB's."

Does that not contradict your other statements???

November 21, 2007  02:14 AM ET

No, cat, it doesn't. The Cowboys running game has absolutely sucked in the first half of games, too. So what? That has nothing to do with the performance of the QB.

November 21, 2007  02:18 AM ET

I'll get back to this tommorow

November 21, 2007  02:18 AM ET

Terry Glenn is hurt, hasn't played a down all year. TO has 12 TD catches, Romo has thrown 27 TDs, I'll let you all do the math on that one.

November 21, 2007  03:56 AM ET

Its a team game and that reflects greatly on the QB position. The Cowboys have the better supporting cast but Favre still has great numbers. If Favre was on the Cowboys your team would be even better. His long ball is better and he is a more savy player. Favre is doing almost as well with much much less. You have a TD that states TO is the best WR in the NFC. I totally agree and that is making Romo better. Favre has a bunch of scrappy guys but no one great but his team is doing just as well.

November 21, 2007  03:58 AM ET

I agree with favrefan,
I'm torn in the actually facts of the case but CCC just makes such piss poor points.

November 21, 2007  08:28 AM ET

Favre doesnt have a running game or a TE, he has 3 capable WR's while Romo has

WR-TO
WR-Crayton has developed into a good No.2
TE-Witten
RB-Jones
RB-Barber

The running game does affect the passing game, open your eyes CCC......And Romo's stats are only slightly better in yards and TD's......Favre has to throw since they have no running game so he will have more completions and attempts......

FYI: Like Packers and Boys equally so no favoritism here, this is the 1st vote against CCC in a while.......

November 21, 2007  08:30 AM ET

Dallas 117 rushing yards
GB 80

November 21, 2007  10:33 AM ET

"Favre doesnt have a running game or a TE"

djroxalot: Back from LA | 11/21/07

Sorry but Donald Lee is headed to the pro bowl this year along with Witten.

Vote to CCC--better arguments. Saying the running game doesn't matter is less dumb than claiming Favre beats Romo in almost every passing category.

November 21, 2007  10:34 AM ET

CCC I will have to go against you in this one, just for the fact that in your other TD (that you are winning, with a good argument) that T.O. is the best WR in the NFC. You can't tell me that Favre doing more with less is not more impressive as Romo doing exactly what he should be doing with all that talent around him (especially once they get Terry Glenn back).

November 21, 2007  11:39 AM ET

fact is: quit saying "fact is"

November 21, 2007  11:59 AM ET

How the Hell is C3 losing? He has shown statistically that Romo is better than Favre in almost every way, shape, or form. The numbers don't lie.

Also, don't give me this garbage that the Packers have no weapons, and that the Cowboys have more in a bunch of inexperienced guys. Truth is, those guys are putting up great numbers. But due to their lack of experience, things could have gone either way. Tell the truth: If they would have been dropping passes that most would have caught (such as those some certain Bears players have been doing,) then you would be bashing the Cowboys, saying they have next to nothing. You would say they would be one and done in the playoffs, if they even made the playoffs.

Also, as C3 has already stated, Glenn has been out all year. For Romo to be such a feared QB with a bunch of young ones on the team is simply remarkable. This isn't even a contest- C3 gets my vote.
