Ray Lewis Turned 32 Yesterday (May 15). He is a washed up player now and is only on the Ravens for leadership and spirit, not because of his play.

As much as I dislike him, I will admit, Ray Lewis was a good player in his prime, but as time has gone on, he has detriorated, and is now hurting the Racens defense. I will admit that his stats are very good, but I think it is mostly because of the people around him. Living in Baltimore, I have seen him play in a lot of games. I have noticed that when he gets his big hits, most of them involve him coming in late on an illegal hit, and then jumping up and celebrating. Also, injuries have affected his play in recent years, and it seems the Ravens are getting younger. As long as he has good players around Lewis will continue to produce, but individually, he is old and has lost a step. Most of this argument is personal bias against the Ravens, but I feel I have a good point about his age and decreased productivity.

although he is not one of my favorite people in the NFL, this guy is still a good backer....and at 32 he is still top 5-10 in the NFL without a doubt...and thats not a wash-up if you ask me

Yes, he is a very good backer, but if you take away the talent around him, is he really that good? When the Ravens went to the 3-4 scheme, his production decreased, but when he was in the 4-3 and had Sam Adams and Siragusa and now Ngata in front of him. He is very good in the Ravens system, but overall he just doesn't have it anymore.

I agree that he may have lost a half a step in the 3-4...but even with that he is one of the better backers in the game..

In your original Statement you said he was washed up and only there for Leadership...and then you contradicted yourself by rebutaling and saying he is a very good backer...I think you lost this one for yourself

Yeah, I did lose ****. I'll give you some last words and then forfeit ****. At least some people agree with me. I didn'**** have that good of a basis for my argument, since **** was mostly personal bias. Thanks for pointing out my flaws.

My Final Agruement...

Although Ray may be considered a killer off the field; he is still considered one on the field as well.

thank you.

yeah ray lewis may not be what he used to be but thats wat happens when youve been in the league for so long. to this day Ray Lewis is still the most highly respected and feared linebacker in the game. On ESPN NFL Net or whatever you watch when an nfl player is asked who is the best linebacker in the league they all have the same answer....RAY LEWIS!!!

Unless your name is Barry Bonds, it's pretty fair to say that most athletes will decline with age. Lewis still commands attention from the offense, still has a nose for the ball and still makes his teammates better. The defense and the talent around him is better when he is in there.

Ray Lewis is still a Top 5 MLB

washed up, no way he will still have a good season this year and is still in the top 10 if not the top5 of LB now.

He can be an accessory to murder just as well now as he was 7 years ago...

Dgal, I agree with you 100%. IMO, he is only there for hype and leadership. His numbers would have been even crappier if he didn't have the players around him that he did, and the system that he was in. Hands down he's done and washed up. In all honesty, I don't think he's a good backer, I just think he's smart and knows when to pick his battles. He doesn't have the intensity or the drive he used to. All he's good for now is coming out of the tunnell doing his dance with smoke and confetti blasting in the air. My vote goes to you!

Losing Adalius Thomas was huge for Baltimore. He was their sack leader and a Pro Bowler. This will expose Ray somewhat this year.
