Understand I am leaving for work so if you accept I will be back on here later after work......My new job has a firewall so I cant TD at work.......UGHH!!!!

14 points against an average (at best) Cardinals defense (23.5 ppg allowed) and 16 against the Jets (25.3)......Then they scored just 3 points against the Dolphins solid but aging defense (25.2ppg).......Granted the conditions were far from good but dang.......

With their easy schedule, they shld be the undefeated team looking at an unbeaten season

I wont knock their defense because they have a solid unit and have a very good shot at upsetting the Patriots.....

If they have a very good shot at upsetting the Patriots, doesnt that mean they're better than their record?

If "they should be the undefeated team looking at an unbeaten season", doesnt that mean they're better than their record?

Both of these things indicate that the Steelers arent playing up to their potential, which I think anyone would agree with, but not playing up to their potential means that they are actually better than their record.

They currently have the best D in the league statistically. No D has given up less yards or points than the Steelers. They're offense, when healthy, can score on anyone at any time. They have a QB that can create as well as anyone, a break-away threat at RB (parker) and WR (holmes), as well as possession and red zone threats (ward/miller).

8-3 is worse than the Steelers really are, not better.

They lost to the Jets and Cards...........

They can beat Pats because they have the best pass D Pats will face......Doesnt mean they are not overrated......Just means they have a defense

Let u play with words but bottom line is people think they are a great team and they arent......

First off, the Cards arent that horrible of a loss. They are 5-6, and have lost 3 games by 3 or less and another went to overtime.

The Jets was just a pathetic game. It was a trap game and it happens, this IS the NFL, and it does happen regardless of how much better one team is than the other.

Last night was a product of the conditions. It was terrible and absolutely nothing can be inferred about the talent or lack of talent on the Steelers team based on that.

8-3 isnt exactly an amazing record by the way. Its good, but its not fantastic. So its not like in order to say that the Steelers are as good as their record you have to say that they are this world beating team. 8-3 just means they are a very good team, and I find it hard to imagine most people dont think they're good.

They lost to Jets, Cards.........Broncos arent all that......

Over rated.......I said they should be 11-0 because they have a cream puff schedule and they havent beaten anyone of significance......

They beat Browns twice and Seattle.....

Jets=terrible loss in a trap game
Cards=not actually a terrible team (see above argument)
Broncos=same as cards, not great, but not bad either.

Point is, they've played 11 games and won 8. The Browns are 7-2 against everyone not named the Steelers.

As I said before, 8-3 is just a good record, not even great. So for you to say that the Steelers arent as good as their record, which is only a good record, is to say that the Steelers arent even good. Thats just stupid. If the Steelers were 11-1 I could begin to see your argument, but at 8-3, that record just says they're pretty good.

Pointing to 3 losses and saying they arent any good is pretty silly as well. Its the NFL, there's a reason nobody has gone undefeated since the Dolphins in '73. Teams are going to sometimes lose to teams they shouldnt throughout the year. That doesnt mean they arent as good as their record.

Dj... I told you this a few days ago and you ignored me... now you're making a TD about it.

November 27, 2007  09:02 AM ET

Good call David. I second that.

November 27, 2007  09:11 AM ET

this guy is arguing they are not as good as their record...then saying that they should be undefeated....which is it? vote to WB

November 27, 2007  09:15 AM ET

I actually agree with Dj... I just refuse to give him a vote on this because he thought the complete opposite like 2 days ago and ragged on me for saying the Steelers were overated.

The Steelers ARE overated however, and 8-3 is a gift, they could easily be 6-5 if their schedule wasn't so easy.

November 27, 2007  09:16 AM ET

they are the third best team in the AFC....which is where they are right now if the playoffs were to start

November 27, 2007  09:24 AM ET

The Steelers are the third best record wise, they are not the third best team.

November 27, 2007  09:26 AM ET

who is better? they will beat jax in a couple weeks...and please try telling me the broncos or chargers are better

November 27, 2007  09:31 AM ET

Pats
Colts
Jags
Titans
Chargers

could all beat the steelers, the pats, colts, jags are probably better

November 27, 2007  09:35 AM ET

haha you are a joke...its the nfl...of course all those teams could beat the steelers....as they can all beat the jags too....jags are not better than the steelers

November 27, 2007  09:37 AM ET

Hahahaha, you're clueless, here's some trivia. What is the best team that the Steelers have played so far?

Question 2, who have the Jags played?

November 27, 2007  09:44 AM ET

steelers: cleveland (7-4) (7-2 against teams not named the steelers)
Jags: indy (9-2) who they lost by 22....your point?

November 27, 2007  09:50 AM ET

My point is the Steelers have one of the easiest schedules in the AFC. Probably the easiest. They lost to the Jets, and almost lost to Miami. One of the worst teams in NFL history. They don't even deserve to be in the same sentence as the playoffs.

November 27, 2007  09:53 AM ET

The Steelers have only scored 19 points against the AFC East basement. A loss to the Jets is an abhorration. But a loss to the Jets, followed by a tight game against the Dolphins is very telling.

I still think it's a coaching problem. The Steelers COULD be undefeated with their lax schedule, but with Tomlin at the helm, it seems they have a tendency to play to the level of their competition. It reminds me of the 2001 New York Giants.

November 27, 2007  10:14 AM ET

abhorration? what the he!l is that? Is that like a cross between an abomination and an aberration? Hmmm. That actually might work. Mr. Webster...make it so!

November 27, 2007  10:15 AM ET

did you watch the game? that field was unplayable....take nothing away from that game....and accept the TD i challenge you to then

November 27, 2007  10:16 AM ET

The Steelers have gone 8-3 while dealing with some significant injury problems all season. Hines Ward missed games and has been playing with a bum knee. Polamalu has dealt with knee and shoulder injuries. They have lost key starters like Casey Hampton, Aaron Smith, Santonio Holmeand Marvel Smith. Willie Parker is banged up and their not talking about it, but he's been on the injury report with knee, hip and ankle problems. All of these guys except Holmes are Pro bowlers.

Granted, they need to get their O-line patched back together... and Ben needs to get rid of the ball a little quicker as a result. He's just taking too many sacks. But to suggest they are over-rated is ridiculous. I'm not suggesting they are going to win the Super Bowl, but they are a legitimate playoff contender.

November 27, 2007  10:44 AM ET

Vote to wbcincy and anyone that knows me knows why.

November 27, 2007  10:44 AM ET

Of course the Steelers' record COULD be better than 8-3. Only the Cardinals beat them convincingly. The Broncos and Jets both won on final-possession field goals. For that matter, the Dolphins could easily be 6-5 right now, if not for a field goal here and there.

And, of course, the Steelers record COULD be worse than 8-3.

Regardless... their record IS 8-3. Most importantly, at this point in the season, they are undefeated in the AFC North. They currently own their division, and a playoff spot. That's the only thing that they are completely concerned about right now... and that is how their games have tended to play out. Now holding only a one-game (plus tie-breaker) advantage over the Borwns... it will be interesting to see how the Steelers approach their remaining schedule.

And let's all remember that, although this is a veteran team, Mike Tomlin is a rookie head coach... by every possible definition. This is STILL just his first season as an NFL head coach. This is STILL just his first year with the Steelers organization. This is STILL just his first year with these players, and this system. The Steelers need only have looked across the field last night, to see how this season COULD have gone for them. The fact that the Steelers remain among the best in the AFC is remarkable, in and of itself. And as far as competing with the Patriots is concerned... if the Eagles can harass and frustrate Brady, and exploit the Patriots' defense enough to keep the game close... you can bet the Steelers are capable of doing the same.

Uh..the Patriots have an easier schedule, and I don't see them putting up 60 points in that game
