The Twins' run at the American League Central is over (meaning they won't be winning any more division titles for at least three or four more years).

With guys like Santana and Hunter leaving the team for good, it looks like the Twins can kiss their reign as the AL Central incumbent good-bye.
rstowe said 11/27, 02:47 PM
What incumbent? The Indians won the division this past season. Incumbent means the team currently holding the title.
Depending on who they can get for Santana they still could compete in their division.
It doesn't take much to lose this division as the tigers showed this past season. Injuries to the Tigers/Indians and the Twins have a shot.

I know, but they have been THE team of the Central this decade, so I usually call them that. An up-and-coming division that started with the White Sox wiining the World Series looks to be headed for the Comedy Central days with Cleveland owning it like they did in the 90s. But the Twins in particular are finished with Liriano as the poor man's Kerry Wood.

Until Santana is officially gone you can't count out the Twins and it depends on who they get back. They'll be okay, if they get Hughes/Kennedy/Cabrera from the Yankees for him.
The only team in that division that can be counted out every year are the Royals and maybe the Sox. This division has had 3 different division winners in 3 years (Sox, Indians and Twins) with the Tigers being close.
Depending on who handles injuries better, this can be anyone's division, not like the East where it is just the Sox and Yankees or the West where it is mainly the Angels (with everyone else fighting for the Wildcard).

It's definitely the Tigers or Indians division to lose. The White Sox should be the perineal favorites with that staff of Garland, Buehrle, Garcia, Vasques, and Contreras, but alomst all those guys are gone. The strength about the Twins was that they were a great small ball pitching team, but now they make errors, their rotation is shot, and the rest of the division got better.

I agree that it is the Tigers or the Indians division to lose, but the history in that Division over the last couple of seasons has shown us that you can't count anyone (except the Royals) out.
All it takes is for a lot of players to have career years (like when the Sox won) or teams to be injured (like the Tigers this past season).
With baseball, like Yogi said, it ain't over till it's over. The Twins proved 2 seasons ago that they could come back and win the division when the Tigers started losing. You just never know.

So, two more pitchers...when the Twins are 8 deep in starter ready for the show even without Santana and Silva...and one one of the worse hitting OFs in baseball for Santana...YEAH, sounds like a GREAT trade...would really help the Twins a lot...

I know, sorry about that. I was finishing my statement and I clicked the wrong thing. I didn't know you could "delete" any td. I thought you could only "forfeit" or "win'
