First, I'll start by saying that Ohio State deserves to be # 1 because they do only have 1 loss. However, are they the best team? Hell no, they aren't even a top 5 team! They played the weakest schedule of anyone in the projected top 10 (notice they will be the only Big 10 school), the only team whose schedule was anywhere close to as bad is WV (the only Big East Team). There key win isn't Michigan, the way the big ten turned out, you could argue it is against Washington (jk, but there is an underlying point).
Second, the three best conferences this year hands down were the SEC (like always), the Pac 10 and the Big 12 (sorry Vtech and ACC). Well LSU, USC and Oklahoma all won their conferences, (unlike Georgia who couldn't win their 3 team division). One of these three schools will represent the #2 spot in the title game and I don't care which of these three teams it is, they will destroy OSU.

I challenge you based on your flaws. Out of LSU, USC, and OU, only LSU has a shot at the NC, and that's not by a big amount.
OSU would kill LSU. OSU's defense is just too good, and LSU's offense is not really that great. Sure they can put up yards, but they're really inconsistant.
Plus, look at all the trouble LSU had stopping McFadden. OSU has a great HB in Beanie Wells, plus Boeckman is a good QB.
USC and OU were #8 and #9 in the BCS. That's too high of a jump to get to #2 in the standings.
Hell, it's conceivable that VT or UG might make it.
The Waiting Game said 12/02, 01:09 AM
Ok anyone could be #2, but that is not what were arguing I was just throwing that in there as possible teams OSU could play.
Let's look at it team by team
Vtech,Georgia, and USC are the 3 hottest teams in college football right now, compared to OSU's defense these defense's look like gods.
You think that LSU would be killed by OSU. Are you kidding, that would be the biggest blow out, OSU's defense isn't just that good. LSU has two losses this year, both were unlucky losses in triple overtime. As much as I hate to say it the 2nd best team in college football is LSU.
Finally, the best team in college football would absolutly destroy OSU. Their offense couldn't drop the same numbers (resulting in less of a blowout, but just as dominant). If you haven't guessed it by now I'm talking about Oklahoma. They won the best conference in college football this year. (SEC isn't NCAA football that is NFDL). They beat Missouri twice (whose only two losses were to Oklahoma). They got unlucky against Texas Tech, but who this year hasn't gotten unlucky. Wether its OSU losing to Illinois, or LSU to Kentucky.
Bio1590 said 12/02, 01:24 AM
Are you kidding me about OSU's defense not being good? Seriously. 1st in ppg (10.7 - ahead by 4.7 points), 1st in yards/game (225.3 - ahead by 41.8), first in passing yards/game, and 3rd in rushing yards/game.
LSU has two losses in overtime yes, to two unranked teams, but they also have two close wins based on the 5/5 against Florida and a miracle last second TD against Auburn because of a defensive breakdown.
How can you say LSU is the second best team when you just said Georgia is one of the hottest teams in the country? Georgia right now could clown LSU, they play way too physically. You should've seen the Tigers dropping like flies against UT today, and Georgia's even tougher than that.
And OU is FAR from the best team in the NCAA. You forgot to mention they lost to Colorado LOL.
The Waiting Game said 12/02, 01:34 AM
OK Hot has nothing to do with good. LSU and Oklahoma are the two best teams in the country, while Vtech, USC and Georgia are the hottest teams in the country.
Yeah I know they lost to Colorado, that is just another really close loss that came with the most unpredictable season ever.
Were not here to argue about who is the best team in the country, read the title again.
Finally, back to OSU's defesne, as I have said when I was refuting Jim Tressels comment, they only have the best stats in the country because they played in the Big Ten. Trust me I knew perfectly well they averaged 10 points a game. Where was that defense when they played their non conferense scheudle. Oh that's right they played the Akron, Ken STate, and YSU, who the hell is YSU??? The truth is if their toughest non conferense game wasn't UW then mabye they would get my vote as the best defesne in the country. But when you combine their league schedule with their non conferense that might be the weakest schedule in college football, anyone could hold those teams to 10 points a game.
Bio1590 said 12/02, 01:46 AM
So holding one of the best RBs in the country to 44 yards and 2.4 YPC doesn't mean they're a good defense? Hart averaged 5.2 YPC for the year.
If your only argument is that the Big Ten is "average" then you need to get a new argument. It's a well known fact that the last few years the only consistantly good teams in the Big 10 have been Michigan or OSU. In the last 6 years it has always been either OSU or Michigan either winning the title outright or sharing it with another team. Oh and YSU is Youngstown State University.
OSU will be in the NC and will win it. The only teams that had a chance at beating them were WVU or Mizzou, and now that those two teams are gone you might as well give them the crystal football. LSU has a porous defense and a very overrated offense, and OU and USC have no chance of making it.

What should really happen is a 4 team playoff (with bowls being kept in place) USC will play OSU in Rose Bowl (classic Pac-10 Big Ten matchup) and LSU plays Oklahoma in Orange Bowl, give it a classic to go out on! Winners play in a +1 game, the 4 most deserving teams get their playoff. they all won their conference (unlike Georgia) and simply the 3 best teams plus OSU who has the best record.

Report Offensive CommentBy the way on my 2nd argument, Illinios was completley overrated, they got that high ranking by beating up on the bad Big Ten. Did they deserve there spot in the Big Ten, yeah they dominated, but it was the worst Big Eleven I have ever seen.
The Waiting Game | 12/02/07, 01:11 AM
Report Offensive CommentYou lose my vote easily. And whoever you get votes from they are moronic. VTECh, Georgia, and USC defenses look like God's compared to OSU? Wait I believe Ohio State has the best overall defense in the country based on the stats I have looked at.
Georgia didn't even win he SEC Title so I don't believe they should be in, and if they did I pick oSU in that one.
USC vs Ohio State would be a good game, but this one won't happen either.
Va Tech I feel should be playing for the title game (I think this would be the easiest opponent for Ohio State anyway), but because of that loss to LSU I don't think they will.
And you bringing up Oklahoma in this TD is totally pointless. They aren't going to jump 9 spots hate to break it to you.
Vote way lost
Jim Tressel FTW | 12/02/07, 01:17 AM
Report Offensive CommentYeah the stats you just looked at were scewed by the fact thatt the BIg Eleven sucked this year. Illinois wouldn't have finished above WSU in the Pac-10 or Vanderbilt in the SEC. When the Big Ten loses every one of its bowl games I am going to laugh
The Waiting Game | 12/02/07, 01:22 AM
Report Offensive CommentOk that was a hyperbola, but still the Big Ten and the Big East were pathetic when you compare them to the Pac-10, SEC, Big 12 and even the ACC

Report Offensive CommentAnd I counted on losing OSO votes by simply writing the title

Report Offensive CommentAnd that explains why the Big 10(11) has 6 bowl-eligible teams and the Big East has 6 as well.
Bio1590 | 12/02/07, 01:26 AM
Report Offensive CommentOr put it this way:
Big 10: 54.6% of it's teams
Big East: 75%
Big 12: 66.7%
ACC: 66.7%
SEC: 83.3%
Pac10: 50%
Bio1590 | 12/02/07, 01:30 AM
Report Offensive CommentAnd that's only counting bowl eligible.
Most of the SEC teams probably won't get a bowl (if I'm not mistaken even if you have 6 wins they don't have to let you in)
Bio1590 | 12/02/07, 01:31 AM
Report Offensive CommentBio gets my vote, definitely.OSU will avenge and beat whoever they play after all you 1-2 loss SEC lovers fight it out. There is NOT 1 SEC team that has a D.Keep believing, but it won't help your wallet when you lose all your $$$ betting against OSU.

Report Offensive CommentI LOVE THIS.
LSU was #4 in rushing yards/game (right behind OSU) before they met Darren McFadden and the Razorbacks.
Arkansas put up over 300 yards on them ON THE GROUND.
Bio1590 | 12/02/07, 01:35 AM
Report Offensive CommentYou want to know why because they have deals with 6 bowl games. If they didn't have those deals then their isn't anyway in hell they get 6 teams into bowl games. http://bigten.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/110904aaa.html
The Waiting Game | 12/02/07, 01:36 AM
Report Offensive CommentThe best RB OSU played was Hart who was injured the entire year. Besides that the best back was Jake Locker of UW, by the way if you didn't know he is a QB.
The Waiting Game | 12/02/07, 01:37 AM
Report Offensive CommentAnd If you want to know I am not an SEC lover I hate the SEC, but the Big 10 is just that bad I don't know how you can't see it Rada. From Michigan to Applachain State and Oregon. The best team Penn State and purdue played was Notre Dame, Wisconson was Washington State, OSU was UW, Illini lost to Missouri and Iowa lost to Iowa State. When it comes down to it the Big 10 played absolutly no one non conference, and when they did play no one they didn't play them well.

I just reread all his arguments and all he spits out is Big 10 hate and statements that absolutely have no base to them.
There's no proof OU and LSU are the two best teams in the country.
Bio1590 | 12/02/07, 01:50 AM
Report Offensive CommentOk so you think Missouri had a chance to beat OSU, but Oklahoma doesn't??? Oklahoma man handleed Missouri twice. I don't understand that, and my point with YSU was that they weren't even a Bowl Division Team, I knew perfeclty well who they were. And my point with using the Big Ten is weak is that in the Pac-10 OSU would have been 4th behind USC, Oregon and ASU, in the SEC they would have finished behind LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, and possibly Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas. They would have put a good fight against Vtech in the championship game, but would have lost, and in the Big 12 they would have finished 5th behind Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Texas.
