Well, Kitna has a patchwork offensive line. He has been dumped 50 times so far, which leads the NFL, and facing the heavy blitz of the Cowboys, he can expect to be dumped at least 6 more times.

But he has been fairly stable for all the hits he has taken in Detroit. Not this time. Never has a team wanted to kill a QB so badly. Mark my words... Kitna WILL be knocked out of the game next Sunday. Why?

Two Cowboys players are already openly talking about their desire to absolutely destroy Kitna, and you can bet there are more who are simply being quiet (like DeMarcus Ware, who lost to Kitna last year, even though he had 3 sacks)

Just wondering here, Eagle, but uh, unless your players WANT to be suspended for the rest of the year and/or fined into bankruptcy for WILLING injurying a player I don't think this will happen. I really don't see how you can predict with such vigor that Kitna will be put down on Sunday. I mean, I understand the prediction for a good amount of sacks against such a porous offensive line, but predicting an injury is NEARLY impossible especially for such a tough and strong player as Jon Kitna. As you said, he's been sacked 50 times, but has been (probably) hit at least 70+ times and still has had ONLY a concussion that lasted all of 2 quarters. Since there isn't much else to argue in this (at least to my knowledge) I'll just say that despite these claims Kitna will NOT be injured severely. Another thing to point out though is: why are the Cowboys trying to talk smack to the 6-6 Lions (who beat them last year when they went 3-13)? The 'Boys are 11-1 and suddenly find the need (Newman and Bradie James at that) to talk smack. I don't see a need for it until you've proven something and against the Lions last year, the 'Boys proved nothing, except that Romo can turnover the ball a lot.

Forfeited Turn

So, let's see:

I don't see Newman getting many blitzes either so he probably will only get a few chances at his "revenge" shot. The linebackers will probably be the ones coming up with the revenge. Anyway, I'll just submit this small argument since you don't seem to be responding Eagle Hater.

Nothing to say yet again? Come on man, I expected this to be more...oh well.

There is no good reason for or against this.

December 5, 2007  07:21 PM ET

"Don't know if anyone else was listening to the Afternoon Blitz on Sirius radio today when Terrance Newman was interviewed but he said he is prepared to pay a $15,000 to $25,000 fine as revenge against Kitna for comments he made after last season's win over Dallas. He said he better look out if he lines up outside on a blitz and has the money to cover the fine for the hit. Schein and Wilcox continued to bait him for the whole interview and he continued to express that the defense is gunning for Kitna big time. I think the NFL should sit Newman for the game myself and think this kind of threats for serious injury and fineable hits is ridiculous. He said he is putting Kitna's quotes on everyones locker and definitely indicated that the defense would be gunning for him. I've never before heard an NFL player so expressly indicate that he is planning on hurting another player and if anyone seriously hurts Kitna the whole Dallas team should be penalized like never before. And they thought Green Bay putting bounties was a problem, this is over the top."

Taken from a Lions message board. Sounds like they're gunning for Kitna, Ben.

Eagle, I still don't think you can predict such an injury...I'll agree that Newman will probably be looking to lay a good hit on him (probably a couple of them), but I REALLY don't think he'll go out of his way to injury (seriously or otherwise) Jon Kitna.

December 5, 2007  07:31 PM ET

Um, if he purposefully makes an illegal hit, tackle, etc and injures him he'll (like I said) probably be suspended or fined into bankruptcy.

December 5, 2007  07:52 PM ET

Nah. The standard fine for an intentional helmet to helmet hit on a QB is $15k and no suspension, though the NFL has been instructing officials to eject the player for the rest of that game if it's blatent.

December 5, 2007  07:53 PM ET

^Fair enough.

But still, with all this pregame chatter about how Newman is INTENTIONALLY going to try to take him out, don't think that Goodell wouldn't be willing to pull a rest of the year suspension or a HUGE fine.

December 5, 2007  07:54 PM ET

LOL! This is kind of a dumb topic...I predict Tom Brady will blow out his arm next week!!!!

December 5, 2007  07:57 PM ET

The last thing Kitna needs to worry about is little Terrance Newman hitting him. He'd better be more worried about Ware and Ellis who will be in his face all game long along with Bradie James (who has his own vendetta against Kitna) and little known Nate Jones (the guy who knocked Favre out of the game last week) who is a beast on blitz packages.

December 5, 2007  07:58 PM ET

I'm not too worried about Newmans comments. I don't see him blitzing much in this game, he'll be too busy in coverage against 5 receiver sets.

December 5, 2007  08:04 PM ET

No way I can vote on a prediction of injury. Wouldn't be surprised if it happened just because of how dominant the Cowboys pass rush has been of late and how porous the Lions protection is, but you never want to see any player get hurt seriously.

Vote to Ben.

CCC, I understand that it is MORE than just Newman who is out to get Kitna (both publicly and privately), and so I refer to the whole team...

Ben, he couldn't have said anything, the new Fa-ge-t rules say, "If you have a life, you can't argue"

It is mentally insane...
