With Rondo averaging only 5apg, KG is the passer out of the post when he gets doubled and then kicks it out to the perimeter players like Allen, Pierce, Posey and House.....

KG also has brought a defensive attitude that the Celtics really needed

And KG rebounds......

I agree that KG is very important player to the Celtics, but I've got to go with Paul Pierce. He's averaging over 20 pts. a game and over 5 assists per game (best on the team). He's got a higher 3-point percentage and field goal percentage than Ray Allen too. Pierce has spent his whole career with the Celtics and has been through the good times and the bad. His teammates look up to him and he's definitely the leader out on the floor.

Ok good luck

Without Garnett, they are Pierce and Walker all over again......2 "me" players in Pierce and Allen......

Garnett is the glue that holds them together even if Pierce is the leader on the floor, this is debateable......

Pierce and Allen arent exactly well known because of their defense while KG is a top defensive player in the NBA. KG is why their defense is a solid unit and Allen and Pierce have bought into what Rivers and KG are selling.

88.4ppg allowed......

Garnett undoubtedly plays with great enthusiasm. You didn't see that later in his stint with the T'Wolves though. He was very unhappy with the T'Wolves and McHale and made it public. I know that Paul Pierce wanted to be traded also, but he was willing to stay in Boston if they were willing to pick up a veteran. They got not one, two in KG and Allen. KG wasn't willing to bargain with the team to stay in Minnesota. He had his mind made up.

After Walker left Boston, he has been on a steady decline, with the exception of 04-05 when he was with a very weak Atlanta team, where he basically had to do everything. Walker's best years of his career were spent with the Celts and Paul Pierce. This just goes to show that Pierce is a team player who makes his teammates better.

LOL

KG wanted out, wouldnt you??? They surrounded him with enough talent in 1 year when they went out and got Cassell and Sprewell......He was a class act in Minnesota and never slammed the organization.......

KG makes his teammates better, not Pierce......

Yea i would've wanted out. But Pierce could have (and probably should have) wanted out of Boston just as much as KG wanted out of Minnesota.

And besides, Boston is arguably one of the toughest cities to play in all of sports. He's an organizational draft pick, and to go from not making the playoffs, playing under Pitino's team which was basically the laughing stock of the league, to sticking with the Celtics and most likely leading them into the playoffs this year is quite amazing if you ask me.

DJ..you know I hate gimme TD's.

December 6, 2007  02:35 PM ET

Its not, T-Fo

December 6, 2007  02:35 PM ET

Ruby Noon said Allen is key to that team

December 6, 2007  02:41 PM ET

Part of KG's value is in stats not measured: shots not taken because of KG's presence. Vote to dj.

December 6, 2007  02:44 PM ET

Sure, they are key. KG may no longer be a top 3 player, but he's still top ten. I don't see any way to rationalize that he's not the best player on the Celts. ESPN's Player Efficiency Rating has Garnett as #8 in the league, Pierce is #33, and Allen isn't even in the top 50.

Nooner said Allen and this guy accepted so obviously I am not making stuff up to get an easy win......

December 6, 2007  02:56 PM ET

****????

December 6, 2007  02:58 PM ET

No, i said that Allen was most intregal to their streak thus far. And he was. He had his biggest games in the Celts tightest and most impressive wins so far.
Just like Ginobaldi has had a better impact for the Spurs so far than Duncan. But Duncan is more important to that team.

December 6, 2007  03:02 PM ET

It's gotta be Garnett.

Pierce has been there for years- and now only that he has Garnett the Celtics are winning...

Kind of a Gimmie DJ. Thanks for the link to brandonhein.com. That is a messed up story. Sending a donation to his defense fund. I have seen to many people locked up for the wrong reasons. Thanks again!

December 6, 2007  03:11 PM ET

Thank Tee-Dub

December 6, 2007  03:16 PM ET

Wallace, the celts haven't had a Garnett calibur player to compliment Pierce.

December 6, 2007  03:26 PM ET

caliber

December 6, 2007  03:30 PM ET

Garnett is the more important player, because his offense is taking a back seat to Pierce and Allen. He's letting them score while he's doing the dirty work on the offensive and defensive glass. He's definitely the glue that's keeping this thing together.

He knows who I'm voting for. Good luck with the TD, man.
