Okay, make a starting lineup consisting of freshman only. Not that hard. Let's go, David...

PG- Derrick Rose- 16 pts, 4 ast, and 6 reb in 29 minutes of playing time. He's led Memphis to a 7-0 start and is a big part of their success. He is one of the fastest players in the game and uses his speed to his advantage quite well.

SG- Eric Gordon- 24 pts, 3 ast, and 4 reb in 32 minutes of playing time. He is a scoring machine and has posted 20+ points in 7 of the 8 games. Gordon has also had 30+ three times.

SF- Jerryd Bayless- 20 pts, 5 ast, and 4 reb in 35 minutes of playing time. Not many people would mention this guy among the best but he's sure is doing a good job. He's very consistant as well and came up big in their last two close games against Illinois and A&M.

PF- Michael Beasley- Pretty hard to argue this pick. 26 pts and 15 reb in 32 minutes of playing time. He is this year's Kevin Durant and has had a double-double in every game this year.

C- Kosta Koufos- The 7-footer is averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds for Ohio State. His best game was against VMI in which he had 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Group Site: http://www.fannation.com/groups/show/22806

PG- Jonny Flynn - Syracuse
PPG 14.6 | APG 6.2 | RPG 1.9

6'0 but VERY quick 19th in the NCAA in assists

SG- Eric Gordan- DUH

SF- DeJuan Blair 6'7- Pitt

PPG 10.9 | APG .7 | RPG 9.0

Shooting 55% as well. Thing I like most of him- half of his rebounds are offensive! (40 and 41 on the season)

PF- J.J. Hickson 6'9- NC State
PPG 18.0 | APG .9 | RPG 8.3 in 28 min
Key stats: Leads NC State in scoring and rebounding; shooting 70 percent from the field

C - Trent Plaisted BYU 6'11
PPG 17.8 | APG 2.1 | RPG 9.2
Smoked the Tar Heels for 24 points and 17 rebounds early this year- If he can do THAT he's impressive

and No Mayo for me- I don;t want to get hit with violations with this freshmen class

I hate to burst your bubble, but Trent Plaisted is a junior, not a freshman. Thanks for agreeing with me on the Mayo thing. I don't think I had enough characters to unload on him.

PG- Rose vs. Flynn- I think this one is pretty simple. In big games, Flynn dies. Against Ohio State in the Preseason NIT Semifinal, he had 0 points on 0-6 shooting. He didn't get to the line in that game and only had 1 rebound and 2 assists to go along with 3 turnovers and 3 fouls. Derrick Rose, however, rises to the occasion. In two tough games (UConn and USC) he's averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Yes, the assists are a little low but that's probably due to the defensive pressure AJ Price and OJ Mayo put on him. He still managed 17 points a game though.

SF- Bayless vs. Blair- Okay, this is tough for me. I watched Blair play last year in the state playoffs and went home a big fan of him. But here we go: Obviously, Blair doesn't have the scoring Bayless has. He's a better rebounder but not as good a passer as Jerryd. Arizona has played more good teams than Pitt has so far. In those four good games for Bayless, he averaged 22 points.

Right back at you

http://www.byucougars.com/basketball_m/profiles/00000002111_mbkb.html

Rose V Flynn - I have 2.2 more assists and you have 1.4 points per game- as an assist leads to two points- I have a better production

Eric VS Gordan - Gordan mailed me and said he likes My show better than yours So thats 2-0 me.

Bayless vs. Blair Bayless is 6-3 182 and a Combo guard- Blair is 6'7 2-fitty and going almost a double double inside- You might be quicker but I push a half court game on you and you are in BIG trouble. 3-0 Me

Beasley vs Hickson - You granted- But I wanted different players- but shooting 70% in the ACC is DAYUM impressive 3-1 you

Koufos Vs Plaisted - Not only do I have the Stats but lets look who thier

BEST GAME was against:

UNC or VMI

UNC is a slightly better team I would think.

BYU call him Freshie- I calls him freshie

As we've proved in the comments, Plaisted is actually a junior. Sorry for the mix-up. There is NO WAY you have the edge at point guard. Jonny Flynn is leading a mediocre Syracuse team. Derrick Rose is leading a elite team past other very good teams all the while putting up nice stats. Flynn didn't play well in a big game (Ohio State). You saw the stats. Not very good by anyone's standards.

How do you get a point off a guy that we both have? I really hope you're just kidding.

1-0 Me.

Rose, Gordon, Koufos (who's actually decent at running the floor), Bayless, and Beasley will run ALL DAY on your team. That's when Jerryd Bayless will get his points on Blair. I honestly think you can't control the tempo with Flynn. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one and call the SF position a push.

Still 1-0 Me.

I don't need to argue this one as you already said I have the edge.

2-0 Me.

I really don't think Koufos is much of a matchup for Kevin Love and I'll give you the edge here.

2-1 Me. I'll take the win on this one. My team is perfect for an uptempo game and that's where you'll fall behind. When you fall behind, you'll be forced to push the tempo.

PG- Yes I see the stats have 2.2 more assists and you have 1.4 points per game more.

Assists are worth a MIN of 2 points so that is 4.4 points added to my production.

is 1.4 more than a MIN of 4.4? Not in my math class.

So I still take PG.

and as far as tempo is concerned- You do realise I set the tempo when I have the ball right? I can run a slow ball-control offense and considering my frontline all average over 8.3ribbies per game and I go 6'7,6'9, 6'10 and you go 6' FN 3 at small forward

I've met Don Nelson and you sir are no Don Nelson so Small Ball is not going to work for you- and considering the fact that my front line DOES NOT MISS ( 70% in the ACC !!!!)

No love for Kyle Singler and Kevin Love?

December 9, 2007  02:49 PM ET

Yeah, my C is probably Kevin Love and Singler at the SF with Bayless and Koufos coming off the bench.

December 9, 2007  03:41 PM ET

Blake Hoffarber anyone?

*coughUofMreferencecough*

Kyle Singler was tough to leave off. I put Jerryd Bayless, who's 6'3" by the way, at the 3. Favrefan, if you noticed, Kevin Love was on the bench during crunch time against Texas. Besides, thugs like Love and Mayo have no place on my team.

I saw Jordan play at the NIT and he seemed like a younger Dwight Howard to me. I don't know if he cracks the starting five though.

C'mon guys, stop giving David these ideas! haha

December 9, 2007  04:52 PM ET

Love rocks!!!!

December 9, 2007  05:00 PM ET

I'll tell you why Love (he's a thug if I forgot to mention that earlier) isn't all he's cracked up to be in my next argument, assuming David chooses him.

December 9, 2007  05:42 PM ET

Mine's not really an idea...unless you know who the hell I'm talking about...

December 9, 2007  06:26 PM ET

Thugs like Love? What? Do you know the sport? He has no history of legal trouble, grew up in the suburbs of high-class Lake Oswego, OR...where do you figure he is a thug?

December 9, 2007  06:38 PM ET

No Mayo?

December 9, 2007  06:39 PM ET

Yes, thugs like love.

Yes, I know the sport.

Well, he has had legal trouble if you consider filing a restraining order against your entire high school team's coaching staff right after petitioning to get the coach fired after you butted heads with him about playing time. Also, you can't forget his parents complaints about not getting enough respect to his high school and hometown (great role models, right?). And, finally, he is the friend of another young thug in college basketball, OJ Mayo. That's how I figure he's a thug, in my opinion.

December 9, 2007  06:42 PM ET

Now on to Mayo. OJ is a cancer to his team. He would disrupt anyone he plays for. He has received many a "ball-hog" chants and is half the player Derrick Rose is. Mayo's been involved in fighting, skipping classes, bumping a referee, and, the cherry on top, caught with marijuana in his possession. It's all about him and "team" is not a word in his vocabulary.

December 9, 2007  10:06 PM ET

DANG- can we get these veiws AFTER I post?

December 10, 2007  09:16 AM ET

Wouldn't that be nice?

December 11, 2007  08:01 AM ET

David, that's an old article on Plaisted. All of these links I'll be posting claim he's a junior.

Do I need to keep going or is this enough for you?

December 11, 2007  08:05 AM ET

If I'm wrong then so are all these articles and so is Dick Vitale (the announcer during the UNC-BYU game in which I heard him call Plaisted a junior).

December 11, 2007  08:18 AM ET

Uh, and?

Those crazy Mormons

Tell you what- I'll do you one BETTER

Is this an Anti- mormon thing? I'm Callin ROMNEY on you!!!!
____

Just throwing this out there
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Love

Look at the LAST LINE under

High school career

______________

I'll go to Kevin Love then

PPG 16.7 / APG 2.2 / RPG 10.1
KK is PPG 15.1 | APG .8 | RPG 6.6

( stats as of today- prev stats were date of TD- all stats per ESPN.com- ed)

again I get
1.6pts, 1.4apg and 3.5 rpg

Sweep!

December 11, 2007  10:22 PM ET

Trent Plaisted redshirted his freshman year thus making him an academic senior. That's probably why SI put that.

Did you put that thing on Love's page? (Is that even possible?)

But I have to make my argument now. It'll be short.

December 12, 2007  03:01 PM ET

My Rebuttal to your 3rd Argument:

PG- You don't understand what I'm saying. I don't care if Flynn is getting his team 2 more points a game. Derrick Rose is leading his team past very tough nonconference opponents. Rose is winning. Flynn is losing. Derrick Rose is the player I'll take 10 times out of 10 over Flynn.

So you DON'T take PG. 1-0 Me.

Yes, I realize that. But my team is faster. You understand that, right? Well, if so, you won't be able to beat my team up the floor; therefore, I will go up in the beginning due to your team not getting back on defense. When you fall behind in a game, you have to run. Also, there is something in basketball called FORCING the tempo.

My team is scoring 102 points per game. Yours, however, is averaging a paltry 85 points per game. I'm putting more points on the board. Isn't that the object of the game?

I still believe I' ve got the edge: 2-1.
