Dude, I'll give you another shot at this one. Oh and don't back down this time.
NCAA all the way, high scores, trick plays, BCS and heisman drama are all great things in NCAA football. In the NFL would you say all teams had a shot against the Pats? In college football everyone has a chance to win whether your number 2 or unranked.
Steelercooz said 12/11, 06:51 PM
Every team has a chance? Hawaii, undefeated, is being called a fluke for getting into the BCS, and two teams that have lost are in the title game. One of them lost twice. They didn't lose a game, and barely even made the top eight. A championship? No chance. They never had a chance.
That's why the NFL is more exciting. It has a measured champion, not crowned by sportswriters.
This is not an argument saying the wrong teams are in the championship game, cuz really, I don't even care. What fun is it to root for something that is guaranteed to end in controversy, and there is not a strong way to determine a champion?
As far as the NFL goes, can a team beat the Patriots? I dunno...but one thing is for sure, we're going to find out, because every team that deserves a chance to try to beat them will get that chance.
What happens to Hawaii? Or Kansas? They play a game that no one will care about unless it ends with some gimmick play, those conferences pocket $18 million each, and we argue even more about who should have played.
Exciting? No, thanks. I'll take Pats/Colts and Pack/'Boys in a weekend. At least we know they have to win their last game to get there.
Saintsfan4ever ST*21 BS said 12/11, 07:05 PM
Yeah every team has a shot Hawaii didn't prove themselves by playing good teams. They played about two ranked teams and that was it. They almost lost to Hawaii. Thats also a good think about the NCAA you have to prove yourself through what times you beat no your record.
Nobody cares about Hawaii's game?! Most people will watch that game. Kansas, I can understand because they played about one good team which was Mizzou.
Why would you watch a Patriots/Colts game over a game like Kansas/Mizzou! Patriots were favorited to win it anyway and they won what fun is that. Mizzou upseted Kansas and became #1. That pretty much ruined Kansas' season! If the Pats lost to the colts do you think that would have ruined their season. Thats another thing I love about the NCAA. EVERY GAME COUNTS!
Steelercooz said 12/11, 10:21 PM
No, see, that doesn't work. The players on the field have nothing to do with the schedule. They go out and beat every team they can. In this case, there was no physical way they could have won a national championship. The schedule was set two years ago, and had nothing to do with the players there now.
That only says, not only does Hawaii have to win every game, but they also have to beat an acceptable amount of ranked teams in order to get a chance to win the title. That isn't a championship, that's an election.
I would rather watch the Pats/Colts, because not only are they playing for the chance to win an actual championship, but their athletic ability, and the shrewdness of coaching are so incredibly higher than even elite college ball, it's ridiculous.
Even the guy exposed in the game plan was most likely good enough to be one of the 255 athletes drafted out of thousands of candidates. In college, you're as good as your best players; in the pros, you're as good as your worst.
I've never really understood how something lesser in athletism is "more exciting" simply because 120,000 people drink a keg of beer before the game.
The excitement is in the talent.
Saintsfan4ever ST*21 BS said 12/12, 07:26 PM
I thought you said this wasn't an argument about the wrong teams being in the BCS? Hawaii could also try blowing out a time instead of winning by a TD or two. That impresses the commitee.
The Pats/Colts game that occured earlier this season will have nothing to do with when they are actually playing for the championship. All that game does is show who is superior at that time. It won't have any influence on the next time they meet.
If your as good as your best, all that does is make a heck of an exciting game! What would you rather watch, Reggie Bush in college or Tom Brady right now? In College there are more trick plays, big runs, and big passes. This in my opinion is a bit more exciting than pros. Who cares if they are less athletic, we are pretty much watching the life of a kid in college. We see him in his first game then we see him in his last game.
My last reason why college football is more exciting than the NFL because everyone is more on the same level. Everyone makes mistakes unlike th perfection of the pros. These mistakes make the NCAA more exciting.
Steelercooz said 12/12, 08:05 PM
"...These mistakes make the NCAA more exciting."
So you'd rather get Drive-Thru at Taco Bell than sit down down at a good restaurant because the mistakes the Taco Bell kid makes gives your eating experience a higher sense of excitement?
Is that really far off? I don't think it is. Less is less. More is more. MIstakes are mistakes.
Do you want to watch mistakes? Wouldn't you rather see someone's best on Sunday just be a little better than someone else's? Again, the excitement is found in the talent.
The pro game has the best athletes available. The speed is so insanely fast, it's a great moment to witness seeing Adrian Peterson break Kennoi Kennedy's ankles, or watch Randy Moss turn into a deer the 1/16th of a second it took to freeze Anthony Smith on Brady's play-fake.
How about the pure mastery of knowing how hard of an athletic achievement it is to watch a QB throw a 50 yard pass, yet, Peyton Manning does it with the ease of someone buttering his toast?
You do not get that level of exciting visual appeal by watching college football. The coaches don't have enough talent top to bottom to bring out the talent of most of the players we watch on Sundays.

lol Nice, Nick. Ya gotta get trashed AFTER the game...oh wait, I don't think I'm allowed to promote that here.
The Steelers beat the Broncos back in 2006, it was a lot of fun watching the Seahawks/Panthers, cuz I didn't care at all who won. Just kept yelling, and ordering more coke...

College players want it more. There is a finite number of years each player has a chance to win a championship: 4. NFL players, depending on position, can push 20 years...and play for several different teams. EVERY week matters in the NCAA. That makes it more exciting for me.

Oh what a crock, there is absolutely nothing that suggests a college player "wants it more." That's the same argument fans of women's basketball use in defense of that game vs. the men's game. It's less, therefore, they must want it more.
Every week DOESN'T matter if you do not control whether you play for a championship or not. If it's more exciting for you, then fine, but top to bottom, the NFL offers far more than the NCAA does. It's not even a question.

Um, you do know how the NFL playoffs work right? I mean, right now it isn't as important because the Pats are undefeated, but if they were tied at the same record at the end of the season it would give the Patriots the better seed in the playoffs....EVERY game matters...this isn't baseball...or college football.

DUMB REASON. Also, perfection? If EVERY NFL team was perfect we would have 8-8 seasons for all the teams because they would just be beating up on each other...or just a bunch of ties because nobody could beat the perfection of the team they face because they themselves are perfection...and when perfection goes against perfection you get a perfect tie.

Steelercooz gets my vote. I think your argument is the best I have seen for this topic.
I have Sunday ticket on Direct Tv because I love pro football. I want to watch every game. The athleticism is astounding. I actually scream and yell because each game does mean so much.
In the end, win or lose, you know the winner of the Super Bowl is the best team in the League. Not just someone's own personal judgment.

"My last reason why college football is more exciting than the NFL because everyone is more on the same level. " yeah, duke recruits on the exact same the level as Oklahoma, in fact the recruiting and favoritism of college football keeps the level intensely seperated whereas in the NFL parity reigns which both allows for greater games week after week, but makes seasons like the patriots, Colts, Cowboys, and Packers are having all the more remarkable and big games between good but second-tier like Jax-Pit matter greatly becuase they stil have a chance rather games between second tier teams like Boise State and Virginia play to see who goes to the **** rub it in Bowl. People always say all of the college games matterm, I'm sorry but that statement is stupid and wrong, the top team or two may have the very last game of the season matter and the top one or two team in the NFL's may not but it's no like UCF and USF really matters. In the NFL teams like Grren Bay, Washington, Minnesota, New york, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Pittsburg, San Diego, and more are playing meaningful games week after week. In college they played Conference Championships and still only three of them (Big 12, Big East and SEC) even mattered. if you lose or 2 games and your name isn't LSU or if you play in a conference like the WAC even if you win all of your games they don't matter. The NCAA plays over 50 games every week and still put out less meaningful games than the NFL that only plays 16 at the most(15 most weeks).
"Hawaii could also try blowing out a team instead of winning by a TD or two"
if LSU wins games by a TD or two, often in OT the loses tow they go the the championship game. If Hawaii wins by a TD or two without any having to go to OT and IS THE ONLY UNDEFEATED TEAM IN MAJOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL, including beating Boise State(Who is also a very good and underappreciated team) they barely make the BCS, some championship. You probably were one of the people that wanted a OSU-MICH rematch for the Championship game last year, how did tehy do in thier bowl games anyway?
Also, before anyone says college is some kind of more pure game bacause they don't play for money, they play for scholarships and the chance to get into the NFL, therefore they play for money, also money destroys college football, The NFL is a well structured entertainment corporation at the head of thier industry with good customer service, good product, stellar employee compensation, and good social responsibility skills. College has overpaid coahces jobs and corrupted the sport itself especially the determination of a championship and the education of these students which is supposed to be the main urpose of the college, for large sums of money. They do little for socail responsibility and give the customers a terrible product leaving fans confused and angry about who the best team is and with very few games of the many played that actually matter no matter who much they are told "all of teh games matter" Pro fotoball all the way
