the 72 dolphins were the best team that season maybe not the next season but besides that there the only team in NFL history to go without losing to one team
MennisDennis said 12/11, 02:03 AM
It's a fact that the 1972 Dolphins didn't lose.
It's also a fact that the Dolphins played an easy schedule.
It's also a fact that the Dolphins won close games.
You said the best team and that is not the same as best record.
The BEARS were totally dominating except in one game (ironically against the 1985 Dolphins).
If the Dolphins had ANY bad luck they could have lost several games. The Dolphins beat the Bills, 24-23, the Vikings 16-14 and the Jets 28-24. Not as dominant. They won all their playoff games by 6 points, 4 points and 7 points. No dominant.

yea but they still beat them didint they so that means there the best just cuz its close dosint mean anything wich ever team won is the best get it

You're picking a team QBed by Jim McMahon as the best ever? Yikes!
It's between the '75 Steelers, '67 Packers or the '89 49ers

The Patriots of today are the best team ever. They would beat either of these teams based solely on the fact that today's players are bigger, faster, and stronger, and that the fastest Dolphins corner couldn't cover Randy Moss if he had leg weights on. It's a laugh. The Patriots have beaten the Chargers, Colts, Steelers, Cowboys, and Browns, and will play the Giants and probably beat them too. That's 6 of the best 7 (Jacksonville being the other) teams other than them! And other than the Colts, they've beaten all of them by a good margin.

Undefeated is the weakest argument ever. 85 Bears would have decimated them. Csonka couldn't run against the 4-6 defense.

As good as the 85-86 Bears were (I say 85-86 because they actually won the SuperBowl in 86), they could not repeat the next season.
So I consider that team somewhat tainted. Kind of like the Packers team Fatso Holmgren coached to a title. Couldn't repeat so not really that good.
Current Pats team is the best team I've seen.

Current Pats team is nowhere near the top. They are like the '98 Vikings. Except they don't have a running game or a pass rush. So check that, they are worse than the '98 Vikings.

The '78-'79 Steelers ( i put 2 yrs because they were essentially the same team) & '89 San Francisco 49ers were the 2 best teams that I saw in my lifetime. The '93 Cowboys are a close second. The jury is still out on this years Pats. Let's see how they're D holds up

I would vote for you ST1 because I agree with you on the topic, however, your arguement is extremely weak.

The 70's Steelers, the late 80's 49ers and the early 90's Pokes were all good.
But none nearly as good as this year's Pats team. The 70's Steelers were a tad too plain. Not as lethal. Better running game though. Maybe a better defense.
The 49ers had Montana but he really has nothing on Brady. They too could score from anywhere. Brady has more weapons though and the defenses are sort of even. Edge to Pats.
As much as I liked the 90's Cowboys, I don't even think they are as good as this year's Cowboys team. Romo may well be the best QB they've ever had. Better than Aikman, better than Staubach. And he has more weapons than either ever had. Current Dallas defense is no better or worse than the 90's team except for Deion. Bad trade, Roy Williams for Deion...
So since I think the current Dallas team could probably beat each of those teams mentioned but can't beat this year's Pats, I have to give it to this year's Pats.
