The Lakers should not involve Andrew Bynum in a deal for Jason Kidd. Bynum has the potential to become a star player in the NBA as he has shown this season. Jason Kidd is a star player, but his days in this league are limited.

Bynum: 10.9 pts, 9.7 rebs, 2 blks, .59% FG, 26 mins per game
Kidd: 11.4 pts, 8.7 rebs, 10.4 asts,.38% FG, 37mins per game

Well, I agree with you, but this throwdown was going to waste so I will take it for the sake of the argument.

Kidd is still one of the best point guards in the league. He is a great passer and he has a lot of experience. The main flaw in your argument is you saying that Bynum has the POTENTIAL to be an all-star. That shows that he isn't a proven player while Kidd is. Also, Bryant isn't going to be on the Lakers much longer and they want Kobe to be happy. Kidd with Kobe would be great, not only for selling tickets, but also for the success of the team. Kidd would get some of the attention of Kobe and his ability to distribute the ball would really help this team out.

Bynum is a good player as of right now. He just turned 20 years old! Kidd is 34 years old. So Bynum is showing signs of future greatness while Kidd is slowly diminishing. He is a great passer and can really help the Lakers overall. But if Lakers aquired Kidd involving Bynum, their record will not change drastically. If Kidd came over with Bynum still on the team, watch out! What i am trying to say is that Bynum has just begun his career and Kidd is about to retire. So the smart move for the Lakers would be to keep their future instead of risking it for around two years(by this i mean kidd's contract).

Everyone knows that Kobe is not content with the Lakers as of now. He wants another playmaker on that team and Kobe is the obviously the main part of this team. If he is unhappy then that's not good. Teams want their players to be happy especially if that player is a prolific scorer like Kobe. Kobe and Kidd together! That would be quite the formidable foe. And I seriously doubt the Nets would accept any trade not involving Bynum. And who knows what could happen to Bynum? He could have a career ending injury next game for all we know! So far the Lakers have a losing record and if the really want to improve that they will take Kidd. Most successful teams around the NBA have a good point guard leading their offense.

Yes Kidd and Braynt would amk an awesome duo, but that is not the my argument. My argument is that the Lakers should not involve Bynum in a deal for Kidd. Yes Bynum can have a career ending injury next game but so can everyone else in the league including Kidd! Lakers are doing good as of now, and it seems like Bryant is happy with how the team is performing.

THE LAKERS DO NOT HAVE A LOSING RECORD AS I ACCIDENTALLY STATED ABOVE. I MEANT TO ERASE IT, BUT I DIDN'T.

The Lakers organization and Kobe want a championship right now. They aren't going to do that with the two biggest stars on the team as Bryant and Bynum. Kidd and Bynum, on the other hand, sound like a capable match for the playoffs. They both have experience and a great passer teamed up with a great scorer means great things are going to happen to this team. IF THE LAKERS WANT TO WIN IN THE PLAYOFFS THEY SHOULD TRADE FOR KIDD!

Wait, The Lakers dont have a losing record!

December 11, 2007  10:08 PM ET

Yeah, that was my bad. I meant to erase it, but I erased the wrong sentence.

At this point, trade anyone for Kidd.
They want him, he wants to be there and isnt this what started the whole Kobe "I wanna be traded if you dont bring Jason Kidd here" Bryant song and dance?

December 11, 2007  10:38 PM ET

Exactly! Apparently there are 6 people who think otherwise and only 5 that are on my side.

December 11, 2007  11:45 PM ET

Hell no

Listen, I love Jason Kidd but Bynum is starting to develop and while he wont be Shaq, he will be a beast rebounder and defender and a good enough player to consistently average 15-18ppg, 12rpg and 2-3bpg

Kidd has maybe 3 season's left, Bynum 12-15

The Lakers should trade for Kidd without involving Bynum! Thats my point! Im not saying dont try to get him!

December 12, 2007  12:55 AM ET

Bynum is staying in L.A.
The Princess has spoken!

Like Marc Antony said about Caesar, "...right on."
Bynum is not going anywhere, unless mitch kupkake wants to be strung up by his [CENSORED].

December 12, 2007  07:53 AM ET

Bynum just turned 20 years old, and is starting to develop into a force to be reckoned with. Kidd is 35 with his best years behind him. He is not going to bring a championship to LA in the time he has left. This could be a possibility if he was all the Lakers needed, but that isn't the case. At this point it makes no sense to trade a center for a point guard, and hope that Kwame Brown becomes the player he was believed to be 6 years ago.

NJ needs shooters and Odom would make a good playmaking PF in the East since Williams is out for the year and Kristic can play C

Hollywood

Kidd is 34

December 12, 2007  08:05 AM ET

Kidd has a solid 3 year window before he starts to slow down and then he can play another couple because he is so much bigger and stronger than most PG's

OK. So you get maybe 2 years out of him before young guys begin to run by him. He won't continue at his current level for 3 more years. Barring injury, Bynum shores up the front for the next 15 years. You do the math. By the way; he'll be 35 in 3 months.
