All of the commotion is mainly lies. Look at the yankee's pitching salaries, yea they are double what hes being paid. If you add it up hes pretty even
TheDeity said 05/17, 04:21 PM
This year Roger Clemons is getting paid $25 million for only part of the season (On ESPN they showed a stat of $108 per minute). He only plays every fifth day. Let's say he starts enough games to get ten wins in all of his starts. I think he won't have enough outings to get more, so let's say 10 wins. How many would a generic Yankee pitcher get in his place, five at the worst? So are five wins worth $25 million? He's paid more than everyone on that roster and any other pitcher he is hardly the most valuable out there. He is a waste of cash.

Yanks are in a situation that needs good pitching with him it will fix part of their problem
TheDeity said 05/18, 09:23 AM
They just have injured starters. Simply because someone needs a position, it does not make a player worth his contract. Simply becomes the Red Sox might need an extra bat next year, signing A-Rod to a $35 million per year deal does not make him worth the contract.

If they have money thats logical in the situation why not use it. Its not like another pitcher was good enough as a free agent and it is obvious that they would not waste so much on zito

How can you make an argument comparing him to the rest of the staff and say it's even? No road games, will not start first game until June,

Being overpaid doesn't mean being paid in accordance with your peers, it means being paid your worth. If Clemens proves he is a pitcher worth 108 bucks a minute, he deserves it. If he doesn't prove it, then he shouldn't get paid that much, regardless of how much his teammates are getting paid.

He isn't the best pitcher on the staff, and if you're going to say his leadership is worth that then what about Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, etc.? They don't get paid near that amount of cash.

It does matter what his teammates (and others in the league) are being paid, because how else would you make a comparison? Being paid what you're worth depends on what others are being paid for what they're doing. No, Clemens is not worth 25 million unless he can put up stats comparable to others in that range. He doesn't have near enough time to do so.

Another way to look at it is... Lets say he has 20 starts, and throws 100 pitches on each outing, that works out to be be 14,000 a pitch. If he walks a batter with 4 pitches that will cost George 64,000...

Huh??? **** a favor, if you REALLY think that Clemens isn't over paid, let me know when you are hiring...I only want a $1,000,000 a year. Bargain price!

Clemens should be embarrassed. Well, so should the Yankee Devils.
