Celtics are the Best team in Sports History

You mentioned in a comment of a throwdown that as much as you hate it the Yankees were the best team in SPORTS history. I dont know if you meant to say sports or MLB but they are definatley not the best team in SPORTS history. That my friend would be the Boston Celtics with 16 Championships including 11 out of 13 between 1956 and 1969.


If you want to go by numbers of championships, 26 is way more than 16. They were founded in 1901, which means they averaged a championship every four years of their existence last century. They won 10 from 1947 to 1962.


I see you want to play a numbers game.....26 in 105 years (thru '06).....The Boston Celtics in their 61 year existance have won 16 which turns out to be a champ. every 3.8 years. WIth a stretch of 8 in a row.


The real point of that was that they averaged a championship every four years over an entire CENTURY. The Celtics still have a long way to go to even come close to that. The Yankees were winning even before the Celtics were founded. You have to look at that if you're talking best team in history.


Well if you want to make the point that the Yankees were winning before the celtics were founded you also have to look at that Yankees started winning before basketball was started. So its not like any team in the NBA would be able to do what the Yankees have done in the last 100 years because its impossible.


Exactly. This is about the best sports team in history and I don't think great success in a 60 year span can compare to comparable success in a 100 year span.

I dont think there's anyway you can compare different teams in different sports to make such a blanket statement. That being said i hate the yankees more than anything so im voting for cjbosox. GO RED SOX!!

Kalman, dont vote against somebody just cause you hate the team. Be logical, the Yankees have 26 titles, Celtics have less, therefore the Yanks are the better choice. Im a Red Sox fan, and can admit it.

yeah but baseball has been around way longer than the NBA, and with the MLB having no salary cap the Yankees just buy championships. It's not too difficult to win when you spend way more money than every other team.
