Replace a NFL coach who was on the hot seat with a new one.

Im going to start by saying Tom Coughlin should be officially off the coaches hot seat and heres why.Though the Giants arent the prettiest team in the league they find ways to win games. He has found away to completely turn things around from last season and has his players believing.
The man who should take his spot on the hot seat would have to be Marvin Lewis.Three years ago it looked like he has turned this franchise around but now it could be worse than before.Yes they have more wins than they did before he came in but this team is always in trouble, fighting and slacking on and off the field.

Okay, mine is wishful thinking (hypothetical) but first I'm going to give you my opinion and some facts about Coughlin.
For starters, Coughlin has never attracted major talent and he has never been able to get a team to like him or respect him. He's got the personality of a wet rock! As far as the Giants finding ways to win, I just don't see it. This year, like others, they find some way not to lose but nobody ever expects them to go far or do well against strong teams, especially when it comes down to crunch time. Simply put, the players don't relate to Coughlin and he does not know how to develop a team and individual players, which is why Eli struggles as much as he does.
As far as one coach replacing another I would love to see Bill Cowher coach the Jets and bring his coaching mentality, personality, play schemes, media and public relations mentality to New York. He is one man (coach) that I think could really turn things around for the Jets and fit in very well with a tough NY crowd. I beleive Mangini is in over his head and only a coach like Cowher could turn them around and get them on track while dealing with all the other crap that takes place in NY.

I have to say i do not agree with him not attracting talent.Since he has been in ny they have brought in Plax,Pierce,Mitchell who is under rated at olb. They havnt needed to go out and get the big names out there since hes been there. Also this year his players have had no complaints this year at all.He took the team bowling during training camp and has put together a players council to connect with the players.last time I checked the gmen were 9-4 oh and comeback wins this year,4 of them which means they find a way to win.
By the way Mangini hasnt exactly been given a great team.No defense, oline, recievers, tightend,qb so how can you expect him to win.In fact im amazed at last year.

First off what wass the subject matter of this TD? It's aabout replacing a coach on a "the" hot seat, right? That's what I thought. I didn't think it was about defending one that "may" be on the hot seat.
Since you defended Coughlin, I thought I would just remind you of his past and more specifically about Coughlins' lack of leadership skills. That's cte that he took them bowling! Maybe he can take them sleigh riding sine Jersey got some snow...

The bottom line is this, Cowher would be a much better replacement to the Jets than Lewis to the Giants. Just think about it!

Let's go into more precise detail about how their replacements would be a better fit...

You totally mis understood this throwdown. This was suposed to be if you can take a coach off the hot seat (meaning he should keep his job) and put another coach in the NFL on it not replace. So ill keep going where this was suposed to go and not what you made it out to be. As far as the bowling it says alot that a coach will take his team out and do anything together. It brings a team together when you go out as a team and do something other than football.Oh and hey maybe he will take them out in the snow after this weeks game.

Okay, it was a little misleading or difficult to tell what was trying to be done. Withthat said and now understood, I just think it's impossible for one to really beleive that Coach Coughlin is the right coach for NY Giants Football! It was never a good fit and it never will be. I don't care if he takes them for ice cream. The games in which the Giants did escape with a victory was due to the players, not the coaching. If anything, poor coaching has made them lose games or kept them way too close in games they really should have had right from the start. With bad coaching, you see many penalties, poor clock management, bad play calling, etc... I see that on a consistent basis with the Giants. I'm not sure how Coughlin could be taken out of the hot seat. He has absolutely failed to further develop the young players on the team and relies heavily on the aging veterans. They're like two different teams on the field at times (most of the time). Someone needs to be held accountable in NY. I stil say the Jets should do everything in their power to get a guy/coach like Cowher. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I still think you're wrong about Coughlin!

liking the rainman so far...

Sorry Cat, you don't find a way "not to lose" in the NFL. They don't give you points just for showing up...

The Giants have been the luckiest team in the NFL thus far. CCC: Do the make you scared as a Cowboy fan? I don't think so. Oh yea, teams do find ways not to lose. Just think about how luck they were aainst the Eagles. Again, I say stick to the TD topic.

Who would be a better replacement? I'd love to hear the logic!

Hmmmm... it seems that this has eroded into something completely different than was originally intended. I really like what you were going for with the concept of the original TD. Coughlin definitely deserves to have some weight let off his back as he plays Sisyphus in New York. And I would tend to agree that Marvin Lewis has had too much leeway from league and press for too long. At what point does it become the coaching staff's responsibility to counsel and guide their players? The coaching cannot end when the players leave team property. Part of the reason that teams such as the Colts and Patriots are so successful consistently is that their coaching staffs instill a standard of conduct which keeps players out of trouble.

Because the talent level in the offensive skill positions on all three teams, when humming on all cylinders, are not disparate or even far apart in quality. The rest of the equation comes down to getting each player to play up to his potential -- as a football player AND as a man. And Lewis simply isn't cutting it...

There is no "luck" in the NFL. You create your own luck with execution. People tell me Dallas was "lucky" to beat the Bills and the Lions, I just roll my eyes. One team executes, the other team doesn't. There is no "luck" involved.

I don't think you argued the right thing, CCC.

CCC is not in this TD.

Oh, sorry, I meant Big Cat. I read the arguments then the comments and CCC was the last comment I read, so that is probably what messed me up.

Coughlin still needs to be fired, but Lewis deserves some scrutiny. It's getting embarrassing in Cincinnati again.
