Here is it is.Choose a rookie on both sides of the ball who you think has made the biggest impact for his team this year.Im even going to go a different route than anyone might expect on the offensive side.

Offense-Marshawn Lynch.
I know the obvious choice is AP but here me out.The Vikings have proven to be very capable of running without Ap this year.As for the Bills you take Lynch out it not pretty. When hes playing this team finds a way to win or atleast keep games close. With his 858 yards and 6tds have helped the BILLS! make a playoff run.

Defense--Patrick Willis
This guy is a beast.I know the 49ers defense hasnt been good but imagine where they would be without his 136 tackles. No one has really talked about him to much this year but he is an absolute star in this league. If the 49ers can get something right next year this guy is going to be the center piece.

Offense-Adrian Peterson

He has been dominate this year for a rookie and he looks like he will be a clear HOFer if he continues at the rate he is going. He is a very talented football player and he has been better than Marshawn Lynch.

Adrian Peterson:
1200 rushing yards
6.1 YPC
10 TD
16 receptions
230 receiving yards
1 TD
11 Total TD

Marshawn Lynch:
858 rushing yards
3.9 YPC
6 TD
15 receptions
120 receiving yards
0 TD
6 total TDs

Adrian Peterson has more rushing yards, a better yards-per-carry, more rushing touchdowns, more receptions, more receiving yards with a worse QB, more receiving touchdowns, and more total touchdowns.

Adrian Peterson might have a better line, but so what. He can still run the ball very well. The Vikings don't really have a good QB and the Bills have Trent Edwards who is pretty good this year, and Adrian Peterson has more receiving yards and better stats on offense.

Adrian Peterson is the ROY this year and he is better, and has played better than Marshawn Lynch.

Defense-Patrick Willis

I'm going to agree here.

So our only disagreement is on offense.

I agree with you that AP is amazing and will be a great rb.My point is the Bills have competed in every game this year except two. They were blow out a combined 92-24 when he wasnt on the field. The Skins game they did win without him because of who they were playing and lets face it that wasnt the prettiest of games. The Vikings have been able to run the football very well even when Ap is out or like last week being held to 7 yards.Obviously he will be nominated for rookie of the year because of his stats but as far as value this year im sticking by Lynch

I get that Lynch has played well this year, but look at Adrian Peterson's stats. He has better stats and he was injuried for 2 games, and he barely played last game and he still has those stats. In 12 games this year, he has way better stats than Lynch.

Peterson even has 1 more reception but 110 more receiving yards and he even has a TD. Peterson has a worse QB by a lot. Tavaris Jackson is not very good compared to Trent Edwards. Lynch should have more receiving yards but he doesn't. Adrian Peterson is better receiving wise also.

Adrian Peterson is one of the best players on offense and maybe, just maybe, the 3rd of 4th top player in the NFL.

Again I agree with you and everyone on his stats. But have the Vikings won without him?Yes,have they rushed the ball well without him?Yes so can you really say he has had a bigger impact for his team than Lynch?Peterson has better stats in every category. But without Lynch the Bills could very well be no better than the Jets this year. Also why should Lynch have more recieving yards?

So what if he had a bigger impact with his team? Adrian Peterson has better stats and when AD has played, he has been big. What about that game against the Chargers? Those are the kind of games that deside who is the top offensive rookie.

Adrian Peterson has really been a huge factor in the games that he has played. He is the reason that the Vikings won games early in the season when they couldn't pass to save their lives, Adrian Peterson was a huge factor in those games.

Those are all my reasons why I choose him.

Lynch is more valuable to his team, but Peterson is the better player.
This is a tough choice which I think will come down to the last week of the season. If Lynch can at least break the 1000 yard marker and the Bills make the playoffs, he will remain in the conversation. If Peterson leads the Vikings to the playoffs it would be a no brainer to choose AP.

I like AP but how is he leading his team to the playoffs... 3 yards on 14 carries against the 29th ranked run defense in the league... his team is 4-0 since he got hurt against GB true he has came back since then but they were doing fine without him Taylor is a very good RB the vikings would still be in playoff contention even if AP wasn't on the team.

Can't put Lynch above AP. I mean, you can, free country, but it isn't right.

December 15, 2007  01:14 PM ET

Whoa. No AD.

December 15, 2007  03:06 PM ET

yeah i agree with eabitchz80....

its rookie of the year...so its basically just stats that matter ya know? Lynch is a very valuable player to the bills....maybe the MVP of that team next to edwards....but not ROY material..

December 15, 2007  05:33 PM ET

I agree AP is the rookie of the year because it goes by stats but in my first arguement I said biggest impact for his team. And The Vikes can win without AP the Bills cant.

December 15, 2007  05:37 PM ET

Good TD...
really good arguments
vote to rainman though... he qualified the TD as biggest impact and Im with him. The vikes won without AP, the bills couldnt without Lynch.
This isnt about rookie of the year, we all know that will be AP.

December 15, 2007  05:51 PM ET

Dyhard do you realize the vikings did not win games early in the year period? And again this article is not about stats what do ever if it were I would have been naming every stat in the book and would of taken AP right away. The Vikings have not won 4 in a row and guess what AP was out for three of those and had 7 yards in the other.

December 15, 2007  06:06 PM ET

Good throwdown with you man.

December 15, 2007  06:14 PM ET

If you are going to argue against AD you have to do it Joe Thomas. He is having an amazing season at OT.

December 15, 2007  06:16 PM ET

dwayne bowe is also a canidate

December 15, 2007  06:20 PM ET

You too Dyhard im sure you will win but unfortunitly for me alot of people are blinded by the stats.lol

December 15, 2007  06:40 PM ET

rainman, AD was out in 2 games, not 3. He had 3 yards in 1, and 116 yards with 2 TD's against Detroit.

December 15, 2007  06:43 PM ET

I like Adrian Peterson instead of Marshawn Lynch. Vote goes to #55 dyhardbasbalfan*BS ST.

What does the * mean and the BS and the ST?

December 16, 2007  12:09 AM ET

Vote to rainman because diehard copied the Willis pick. You have got to make these things interesting. There are other defensive rookies that are impressive with more turnovers.
