Best U.S. Sports Team

Outside of the 4 majors (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB)

I will pick the Houston Dynamo. I'll elaborate in the other arguments.

Can I argue the Harlem Globetrotters? No? I'll take the New England Revolution. Yes, they haven't won the big game (with the exception of this year's US Cup), but they have been consistent, winning three consecutive Eastern Championships. Houston may have two consecutive MLS Championships, but the Revs do have some hardware... and Taylor Twellman

Well, seeing as how the Dynamo beat the Revs in this year's MLS Cup, they are better in that regard. The Dynamo made it to the semifinals of this year's CONCACAF Cup, one tourney that the Revs did not qualify for. The Revs are MLS' Buffalo Bills, they have been to 4 MLS Cups and never won. Meanwhile, the Dynamo in their (technically) 2nd year of existence, have won 2 Cups.

In International competition, they made it to the semis of the CONACAF, as I said before, and the finals of this year's SuperLiga. The Dynamo have also won the last three preseason Carolina Challenge Cups.

The Revolution have won 0 MLS Cups, and have only won one 1 US Open Cup. They have never made it out of the first round of CONACAF, and never qualified for a SuperLiga.

That one US Open Cup is one more than the Earthquakes/Dynamo have (in fact, the Dynamo were knocked out in the first round this year by the Charlestown Battery, a USL-1 team.)

There's only been one SuperLiga, and Houston was invited rather than having qualified (though Houston and New England are in this version, which they did qualify for, along with Chivas and DC). As for CONACAF, Houston did make the semis, though it's an 8 team tournament so they did so through one win. New England "made" the quarterfinals the year before (though both they and the Galaxy lost their first game)

Just based on regular consistency though, the Revolution have put together an incredible streak of winning their conference or at least make the conference final (each of the last 6 seasons). They looked incredibly good in the first half of this year's final, and that sort of consistency is why I see them at the top. They have some hardware, having gone through the teams at all major levels of American competition to get it.

OK, let's look at the Dynamo's history. Since the Earthquakes became the Earthquakes, they won their Conference twice, the MLS Cup twice, once had the Supporters Shield, and qualified for the playoffs 5 out of 6 years.

The Revs have again, never won an MLS Cup, and only have one trophy all together. Never won the Supporters Shield, never made it out of the 1st round of the CONACACAF.

So the Dynamo/Earthquakes have 4 MLS Cups, 3 Carolina Challenge Cups, won the Supporters Shield once and made it to at least the second round of the CONACACAF 4 times.

Looking at the #s stacked up together, I've got to give it to you on that.

Team USA, Basketball Team...

Lol, I wanted to accept and use them, couldn't you tell?

(Sorry, I always don't think, before I type)

I tried to grab this and was already typing my argument.\

How about the Harlem Globetrotters?
Since their loss in 1962 to the Washington Generals the next 38 years they lost twice. That would be a record of 12,596 and 2 pretty damn impressive. Now if you say that they are not a real team that is bogus and if you say they are not real athletes well simply look on Toronto???s roster and you will see one of their very own playing in the NBA.

I've been sucking at TDs lately. I need to take some time off

I'm losing one right now because I used the wrong word to group the power conferences together in college basketball.

I have been killing at TD's lately, I went on a slump and was winning by like 1 vote, against guys that were like 1-25 overall...

Why the forfeit?

Report Offensive Comment

because I took a look at the #s and became convinced that San Jose/Houston's got the historical #s. So that's why I forfeited.
